Chapter Six: You Were a Beauty All Along?

Stepping out of the classroom and breathing in the fresh air outside, her mood relaxed as the open view soothed her mind. Judging from how she’d performed on the exam just now, there was no reason she wouldn’t pass the make-up test, which meant the possibility of retaking the course was completely off the table.

This was very good news for Su Yuan. She stretched lazily, casually stuffed the pen she’d used for the exam into her pocket, and as she passed by the large athletic field in the northern campus area, waves of enthusiastic shouts of “Go!” reached her ears.

“Oh right, there’s also a soccer match today between the sophomores and juniors!” she suddenly remembered. Wang Ping had mentioned it before—this match was a joint event organized by the Sports Department. Besides enriching students’ extracurricular life, it was also a way to select candidates for the school team.

Since she was passing by anyway, she might as well take a look. With that thought, Su Yuan walked toward the stands.

The match had already entered the seventieth minute, yet the score was still zero to zero.

On the field, the team in blue jerseys was the sophomore year, while the team in white jerseys was the juniors. This kind of matchup wasn’t something you saw every day. The stands were filled with enthusiastic cheers, while on the field the players ran desperately under the blazing sun.

“Go, Lu Chuan!!”

A shrill, almost roaring voice rang out. Turning her head, Su Yuan saw it was the cultural and sports committee member from her class. She wasn’t very tall, but her figure was quite full. Wearing a sunhat, her neat ponytail spilled out from beneath the brim. From shouting so excitedly, a bead of sweat hung on the tip of her nose, her whole face flushed red.

“Jiang Yuan, take it easy. It’s so hot—aren’t you tired?” Su Yuan said kindly.

Only then did Jiang Yuan notice Su Yuan sitting beside her. Seeing her just quietly watching, Jiang Yuan said enthusiastically, “Oh, you’re here too! Don’t just sit there watching—get up and shout a bit. Cheer for Lu Chuan from our class!” As she spoke, she forcibly pulled Su Yuan to her feet.

Rubbing her nose, Su Yuan instantly felt like she’d invited trouble upon herself. Fortunately, there were only a little over ten minutes left in the match. Under Jiang Yuan’s watchful gaze, she was “forced” to shout halfhearted cheers a few times. In the end, Lu Chuan scored a goal, and the match ended one to zero.

“Ahh! Lu Chuan scored!!” Jiang Yuan excitedly hugged Su Yuan, then froze and quickly pushed her away. “Uh—sorry. I got too excited!!”

“That’s understandable,” Su Yuan replied stiffly. Lu Chuan was the class heartthrob—sunny and handsome. Jiang Yuan cheering for him wasn’t just because she was the class sports rep; liking him personally was also a big reason.

“What do you mean ‘understandable’? It’s not what you think!” Jiang Yuan’s cheeks flushed slightly as she protested, clearly trying to cover it up.

“I mean, as the class cultural and sports committee member, it’s understandable to be happy about a classmate scoring a goal. Did I say something wrong?”

Looking at the thin, delicate youth, Jiang Yuan stared hard at “him,” trying to find any hint of teasing in her expression. But Su Yuan remained calm, responding with complete sincerity.

“Oh, Lu Chuan’s coming over.” With that, Jiang Yuan grabbed a towel and ran off. Watching her tiptoe to wipe sweat from Lu Chuan’s face, Su Yuan felt a mix of envy and jealousy. She thought: if she had a physique like his, with strong athletic ability, would there also be girls wiping sweat for her?

But then she thought about her own “uncertain” gender issue and let out a faint sigh.

Passing by the basketball courts, she saw Ji Yehao, Gao Jun, Wang Ping, and Yang Xiaowei playing basketball—their graceful shooting forms, the mesmerizing dribbling moves…

At this moment, Su Yuan felt she was being very unhealthy mentally. It was as if no matter how “cool” someone else looked, she would feel a surge of jealousy. “Forget it. There’s no one in the dorm right now—perfect time to go back and check carefully,” she thought. With that, she headed along the familiar path toward the dormitory building.

In the bathroom, staring at the completely naked girl in the mirror, Su Yuan’s gaze grew unfocused. Was this really her? How could she be so different from yesterday’s self?

The face was the same familiar face, but in terms of her body, the contrast with her memories was striking. Down there, beneath that lush forest, the once unrestrained, imposing weapon was gone, replaced by the legendary, unfamiliar “weapon of mass destruction” said to be capable of bringing down an entire dynasty.

Empty—so empty. The sense of incongruity was overwhelming, aggressively asserting its presence!

Su Yuan’s skeletal frame wasn’t robust; on the contrary, it seemed somewhat delicate. Her slender body was just right, as if the Creator had foreseen this moment of change long ago.

On her flat chest, there was a barely visible slight swelling—very subtle, but it still left Su Yuan startled. Pressing her palms against those two points, she could feel waves of swelling pain. Beneath the skin, an unprecedented vitality seemed to be bursting forth.

There wasn’t much excess flesh around her waist—smooth and gentle, like fine warm jade. Below the waist, the not-so-distinct pelvic bones outlined a forbidden zone. The flat calm above and the elegant curve of her hips below were clearly separated.

In the mirror, Su Yuan spread her legs to take a closer look. That bright, tender slit appeared shyly, half-hidden, delicate and cute, looking crystalline and precious. The flesh was so fine that it seemed even a casual touch might injure it.

Just out of curiosity, she lightly parted it with her fingers. Her sensitive nerves instantly magnified the sensation hundreds, thousands of times, sending it straight to her cerebral cortex. A tingling, numbing stimulation surged through her, making her shiver involuntarily.

“Calm down, calm down!! This is your own body—you have to understand it!!”

With that thought, she held her breath and gently fiddled with it, staring intently for several seconds. She let out a muffled groan, thinking: could this be the legendary “hymen”? This unremarkable layer of flesh symbolized the chastity so valued by society. How many girls, fearing its rupture, dared not go any further, forcibly suppressing their desires? And how many men had cried tears of joy on their wedding night because of it?

Shifting her gaze away, the brief probing just now had already stirred strange sensations in her body. Her breathing grew heavy, and it seemed some sticky fluid had dampened her fingers.

Su Yuan froze. Was this body really that sensitive? Realizing she couldn’t continue, she quickly dressed and left the bathroom.

On the desk lay her student ID, already processed for enrollment. She picked it up casually and flipped it open, seeing the stamp in the remarks section: “September 5th, Registered.”

The photo was still of her former self. But when she saw those characters on the stamp—words with no hidden meaning at all—Su Yuan couldn’t help spacing out. With such a drastic change having happened to her body, could her future life path still follow what she’d once envisioned?

“You’ll never believe why I moved to… Sidoarjo
My life in emojis: ✈️, 🏄, 🍣, 🚵‍♂️”

“Ah… what am I supposed to do now!!”

She stared hard at the word “Male” on the student ID. Now she had two hopes: one was that she was just having a nightmare, that the gender change was merely a dream; the other was that the “Male” on the ID would somehow change to “Female.”

Ten minutes passed. Nothing changed. This wasn’t a dream, and the gender on the student ID wasn’t going to change.

Su Yuan collapsed onto the desk and let out a wail.
