Chapter 8 00008
8 Chapter - What Can I Say?
Ye Yao walked out of the bathroom feeling refreshed.
She was steaming hot and looked content, as if she had thoroughly relaxed.
She picked up the pajamas Xiao Jing had prepared and looked at them.
"Cat ear pajamas? A bit childish."
However, Ye Yao didn't want to think about it for now.
She could only obediently put them on.
The material was quite comfortable.
It didn't feel uncomfortable rubbing against her skin; the comfort level was simply maxed out.
"Sleeping in this will definitely be very comfortable."
In less than a second, Ye Yao was completely won over.
Practicality was key.
Ye Yao walked to the living room but didn't find Xiao Jing or Lou Wei.
She didn't mind and turned back to her room.
Her hair was already half-dry in the bathroom.
Having a Fission body was convenient.
Now she just needed to wait for her hair to completely dry before she could rest.
"Wait, can't I go out for a stroll before bed?"
In her previous life, she was a night owl, a complete nocturnal animal.
There was no reason for her to change her routine just because she became a loli.
Of course.
On the surface, she still had to be well-behaved.
If Xiao Jing found out her routine was messed up, she would probably be in for a lecture.
Ye Yao could tell.
Xiao Jing was genuinely trying to raise her like a daughter.
Unlike that old geezer Lou Wei.
"Staying up late with a phone probably won't work; someone might tattle."
Ye Yao walked to the balcony and looked at the night view outside.
Going out was a possibility to consider.
The problem was she might be kindly persuaded to give up.
Even if she snuck out, someone might secretly follow her.
"Then I'll just use a Fission body to go out and clear my head."
Ye Yao quickly made a decision.
A Fission body, if it hasn't undergone data Fission, is equivalent to an ordinary person.
Generating it a little further away would definitely go unnoticed.
Then her main body could be sound asleep in the room, and no one would discover anything unusual.
"I'm such a genius ~"
First, she needed to change clothes before Fission.
The Fissioned body would carry the same attire.
She couldn't go out in pajamas.
What's the difference between a white-haired loli going out in cat ear pajamas and having a note stuck on her saying, "Please pick me up ~"?
Ye Yao trusted the local security situation, but trusting it completely was a bit unlikely.
Even if she wouldn't be harassed, drawing attention was quite undesirable.
Very quickly.
Ye Yao found suitable clothes for going out in the closet.
There were all kinds of styles.
"Hmm, a dark coat, preferably with an attached hood, no skirt..."
Ye Yao spun around in front of the mirror, very satisfied with her outfit.
It almost completely concealed her physical advantages.
Putting on the hood hid her snow-white long hair, so no one would be able to tell she was a girl.
She was ready.
After the Fission body went out, her main body would change back into pajamas... On a small path several hundred meters from the residential area.
A faint light flashed.
A petite figure appeared out of thin air.
"I'm out!"
Ye Yao turned to look at the tall building where her main body was, put her hands on her hips with a proud smile, feeling {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} very pleased with herself.
"Hmph hmph ~ Want to monitor me? That's impossible!"
However, after Ye Yao's recent 'stroke of luck,' she wasn't so arrogant anymore.
Sneaking out wasn't because she was so capable.
Rather, it was because the state organization's oversight was slightly lax.
Otherwise, Ye Yao's every move would probably not escape their eyes.
"The regrettable thing is that I can't bring my phone out."
And she absolutely couldn't bring it out.
Otherwise, the residential area would definitely explode in no time.
The relevant person in charge would have a heart attack if they saw her phone's location appear outside.
"I only have an hour, I'll just wander around."
Ye Yao strolled leisurely along the road.
She walked to a nearby park.
Since it was night, there was no one here, only a few streetlights standing alone, silently working.
Ye Yao always remembered that in her previous life, the park near her residential area always had older men and women regulars.
Erhu, square dancing, chess, tai chi, all sorts of chaotic activities.
Even late at night, it wasn't quiet.
The fact that it was so quiet here probably had something to do with the special nature of the nearby residential area.
It was a little eerie.
Ye Yao couldn't help but get goosebumps.
She somewhat missed the chaotic activities in the park from her previous life.
At least there were many people, lively, and living beings.
"Let's leave quickly."
But sometimes reality doesn't play by the rules.
A figure emerged from the darkness, blocking Ye Yao's path forward.
"Ah!"
Ye Yao had been startled twice today!
Twice!
Both times, they appeared suddenly, without a sound!
If it were Lou Wei again, that old geezer, then fine.
But this time it wasn't him, but a stranger.
The figure who appeared from the darkness was also wearing a coat, identical in style to Ye Yao's outfit.
He wore a black hood.
His head was lowered, so his face couldn't be seen.
All she knew was that he was a burly man.
His aura gave off an unsettling feeling.
This attire clearly indicated something sinister!
Similar to herself.
He was trouble!
Ye Yao was certain she was being observed by him, so she decided to turn back.
"Stop."
A cold voice came from the mysterious person.
Ye Yao stiffly turned around, showing an innocent expression.
"Uncle, why are you calling me? I'm going home to sleep."
This aura didn't belong to a righteous person; ninety-nine percent he wasn't an official!
From Ye Yao's intuition as a new Esper, this person was also an Esper!
The man pointed to a building not far away.
"Did you come out of that building?"
"No," Ye Yao denied without changing her expression.
The building he pointed to was precisely the one she lived in.
"Such a calm answer, mental fortitude far exceeding her peers, she is indeed someone from the Countermeasure Bureau."
Hearing the man's soliloquy, Ye Yao immediately broke into a cold sweat.
Could it be like this?
"I ask, you answer." The mysterious man had already assumed Ye Yao was from the Countermeasure Bureau.
"Did the Countermeasure Bureau's large-scale mobilization this time discover a new Sequence Esper?"
Ye Yao blinked, not answering.
"Someone told me it's a high-ranking sequence, requiring extensive mobilization to ensure adequate supervision."
The mysterious person seemed to be talking to himself.
"Is the new Sequence Esper in that building? I can feel danger and a fatal aura, which means the new Sequence Esper's dangerous level requires powerful combat strength as insurance."
Ye Yao's expression was strange.
No, she hadn't answered at all, so why was he just talking to himself?
What can I say?
"You've been talking for a while, who exactly are you?"
Ye Yao couldn't help but interrupt him.
"Me? Heh heh, I am a Sequence Esper certified by the Countermeasure Bureau, assigned the number 012. There should be a wanted poster of me in the Countermeasure Bureau."
The mysterious person sneered, his tone full of disdain.
Ye Yao looked bewildered.
"Is that impressive?"
"..."
The mysterious person began to doubt if he had really found the wrong person.
Anyway, Ye Yao was starting to get interested.
It didn't matter if the Fission body died; she could do whatever she wanted to court death.
This was another Sequence Esper besides herself!
And one of the rare individuals officially recognized by the government.
Although he couldn't compare to her Sequence 001, being so close to the top ten must be very remarkable.
Perhaps she could obtain some information she wouldn't normally have access to.
"Who is more powerful, you or Lou Wei?" Ye Yao's eyes showed intense interest.
A bloodthirsty emotion began to permeate the air.
"..."
Such a sharp question.
The mysterious person already wanted to leave.
