To put it simply, Peng Xiaoxiao’s question caught Wei Zhanpeng completely off guard.

It also made everyone else want to laugh.

According to the “normal flow” Wei Zhanpeng had imagined, she should have asked him something related to emotions. At the very least, it would’ve been something like “Do you have a girlfriend?” All the earlier buildup and atmosphere had basically matched what he’d expected—he just couldn’t understand why it suddenly turned out like this.

So he couldn’t quite accept it.

“Hurry up, hurry up, don’t drag it out! I’m asking you a question!” Peng Xiaoxiao urged.

Wei Zhanpeng stared at her blankly for a moment, then asked, “What did you just say?”

“How old were you the last time you wet the bed?” Peng Xiaoxiao repeated. “No lying! I can tell!”

Wei Zhanpeng’s eyelids twitched slightly. “You really… want to ask that?”

“Why not? Hey, this doesn’t count as a super private question, right? It’s just a bit embarrassing,” Peng Xiaoxiao waved her hand dismissively.

Wei Zhanpeng had already begun accepting reality. “Alright… but even if you ask me that, I don’t remember. That was so long ago.”

“You really don’t remember?” Peng Xiaoxiao was clearly skeptical.

“I really don’t. I’ve forgotten almost everything from before I was ten. At most I remember a few particularly impressive things—who would deliberately remember when they last wet the bed?” Wei Zhanpeng was in pain.

Peng Xiaoxiao pouted. “That’s boring.”

“I’ll take dare, okay?” Wei Zhanpeng raised both hands helplessly.

“Alright, dare… let me think…” Peng Xiaoxiao started scheming.

“What’s there to think about? There’s a ready-made one right here,” Old Mei said, directly grabbing the card from before and handing it to Wei Zhanpeng. “Hehehe, come on, let him try ordering a student girl.”

Wei Zhanpeng tossed the card back. “What she wants to punish has nothing to do with you!”

“I’m just offering a suggestion. Got a problem with that?” Old Mei’s smile turned dangerous again.

Wei Zhanpeng glared at him, then turned to Peng Xiaoxiao. “Xiaoxiao, you…”

“Okay!” Peng Xiaoxiao suddenly clapped her hands and laughed. “Wei Zhanpeng, you try it too—order a student girl!”

“I… maybe I shouldn’t. Jiang Zixuan just called and messed with them. If I call again now…” Wei Zhanpeng looked very troubled.

At this moment, Shu Yuxin subconsciously muttered, “You’re not using the same phone number. Who would know it’s us again?”

That left Wei Zhanpeng with nothing to say.

Old Mei chuckled and slapped him on the back. “Hurry up, stop dragging it out. Call, call.”

After hesitating for a moment, Wei Zhanpeng finally took out his phone and dialed the number on the card.

Old Mei stared at his screen the whole time, and the moment the call connected, he helped him press the speaker button.

The voice came through quickly—it was the same man as before. “Hello?”

“H-Hello… hello,” Wei Zhanpeng said nervously upon hearing the unfamiliar voice.

“Who is this? What do you want?”

“I… um, that… do you provide services?” Remembering what Jiang Zixuan had said earlier, Wei Zhanpeng tried copying it on the spot.

The man paused for two seconds, then lowered his voice. “Yes, we provide services. What would you like?”

Old Mei silently mouthed at him, “Student girl.”

Wei Zhanpeng glanced at him and said, “I want… uh, a student girl. Do you have those?”

“A student girl? Yes. Anything in the ads, we have. What kind do you prefer?”

“Do you have eighteen-year-olds?”

“All of ours are eighteen. Real college students—you can rest assured,” the man replied, then asked, “Which payment method would you like? We offer per-session rates, or overnight…”

“How much is one session?”

“For an eighteen-year-old student girl, it’s seven hundred per time. Don’t worry, our girls are very fresh—guaranteed satisfaction.”

Wei Zhanpeng stayed silent for a long while, then squeezed out one sentence: “That’s too expensive… can it be cheaper?”

The other side hung up immediately.

“Tsk, not interesting at all,” Old Mei clicked his tongue.

Wei Zhanpeng put away his phone and shrugged. “I’m done.”

“Forget it, forget it—next round, next round!”

……

The game continued all the way until eleven at night, when people finally started losing to sleep and leaving one by one. With too few people left, the rest also lost interest, and the night’s activities came to an end.

Shu Yuxin and Peng Xiaoxiao returned to their room, yawning nonstop. They lay together on one bed for a while before Peng Xiaoxiao sat up. “So, are you going to shower first, or should I?”

“You go first. I’ll rest for a bit,” Shu Yuxin said softly with half-closed eyes.

Peng Xiaoxiao nodded, packed up her clothes, and went into the bathroom.

Shu Yuxin lay there, eyes still half-closed.

After a whole day of noise, the sudden quiet made it easy to feel sleepy—even after just a few minutes, let alone for Shu Yuxin, who’d already been yawning nonstop.

Peng Xiaoxiao only took half an hour to shower, but when she came out, Shu Yuxin was already asleep in the same position as before.

“Hey, Yuxin? Shu Yuxin?” Peng Xiaoxiao walked over and nudged her twice. “Don’t sleep yet—you haven’t showered.”

Shu Yuxin struggled to open her eyes and stared at the ceiling for a while.

She felt extremely tired.

She wasn’t a sloppy person, but she wasn’t particularly obsessed with cleanliness either. On days like this, when she was especially exhausted, if there wasn’t a strong reason, she usually just went straight to sleep—either showering the next morning or just muddling through a day.

But now… living together with an actual girl, she probably did need to care a bit about appearances…

Shu Yuxin stretched and laboriously climbed out of bed. “Ah… so tired…”

“Tired? I feel fine,” Peng Xiaoxiao said as she sat on the bed and brushed back her hair.

Shu Yuxin went back to her bed and started organizing the clothes she’d change into. “Maybe you just have more energy than me.”

“Huh? You didn’t even play that many rides at the amusement park today. Are you really that tired?”

“…Maybe it’s mental exhaustion.” Shu Yuxin picked up her clothes and headed toward the bathroom.

Mental exhaustion was far worse than physical exhaustion. Just that morning trip through the haunted house had nearly killed her.

That haunted house…

As she closed the bathroom door, images from the haunted house suddenly flashed through Shu Yuxin’s mind.

And once they started, they wouldn’t stop.

She found herself uncontrollably recalling everything from the haunted house. The harder she tried not to think about it, the clearer and more vivid the memories became—somehow even scarier than when she’d experienced them in person. A chill ran down her spine.

She glanced back behind her. Hotel bathrooms were usually decorated very simply—you could see everything clearly from the doorway. But even with the ceiling light flooding the room with brightness, she inexplicably felt like there was something unclean hiding inside.

After hesitating for a moment, Shu Yuxin hugged her clothes and left the bathroom. Peng Xiaoxiao had just climbed into bed; seeing her come out, she asked instinctively, “What’s wrong?”

“I forgot to grab something,” Shu Yuxin said, dragging her backpack over and rummaging through it aimlessly. “Xiaoxiao, are you going to sleep now?”

“Huh? No, I’m not sleepy yet. I’ll play on my phone for a bit.”

“Oh.” After rummaging around, Shu Yuxin took her clothes and headed back to the bathroom. “Then… are you turning off the lights outside?”

Peng Xiaoxiao looked confused. “Why would I turn off the lights? I’ll turn them off when I sleep.”

“Oh.” Shu Yuxin nodded and went into the bathroom.

Maybe this was what being timid was like.

Even though she was in the same suite as Peng Xiaoxiao, with less than ten meters between them, once a wall blocked her line of sight, she became scared out of her mind.

This shower was pure torment.

After finishing, Shu Yuxin practically rushed out of the bathroom, as if some beast were chasing her. She didn’t even put on her T-shirt until she was back outside.

Peng Xiaoxiao was still playing a game. Seeing her come out, she froze. “That was fast.”

“…I was too tired. Didn’t want to shower too long,” Shu Yuxin said, climbing onto her bed with a pale face.

“Are you really that tired?” Peng Xiaoxiao was curious.

She felt like Shu Yuxin looked even more exhausted after showering.

“Mm.” Shu Yuxin quietly burrowed into her blanket.

“Are you going to sleep now?” Peng Xiaoxiao put down her phone and asked.

Shu Yuxin lay on her back and tilted her head to look at her. “Do you want to sleep now?”

“I’m not sleepy yet, but if you want to sleep, just sleep.”

“…Then, turn off the lights.”

Peng Xiaoxiao nodded and reached out to switch them off.

The room instantly fell into darkness.

After turning off the light, Peng Xiaoxiao seemed to lie back down. Shu Yuxin didn’t hear any more sounds from her side. The entire room was terrifyingly quiet—so quiet that Shu Yuxin could hear her own heartbeat.

At this point, she wasn’t sleepy at all.

Her mind was full of monsters and ghosts. It wasn’t just the haunted house scenes anymore—even horror movies and images she’d seen long, long ago surfaced in her head. It was like a horror party going on inside her brain.

In the pitch-black darkness, Shu Yuxin had the feeling that something could be hiding anywhere. Even knowing Peng Xiaoxiao was sleeping in the same room gave her little sense of security.

The only thing that gave her any comfort was the bed at her back—she didn’t even dare turn over.

She really, really wanted to climb onto Peng Xiaoxiao’s bed and sleep together. That would make her feel much safer.

But she was too embarrassed to say it.
