Chapter 18 18. "The kid's just being childish—it's all in good fun 🥺🥺"

Dec 07, 2025 1,337 words

Invincible Cat Punch:
“You foot-fetishist freak like you should be on your knees licking my feet and calling me ‘Master’! Get lost! 😡”

Hua Xin furiously tapped her phone, her beautiful eyes filled with utter disdain—the kind reserved for literal trash.

People like him only dared to expose their depraved kinks and perverted urges online. In real life, he was definitely some short, bespectacled, pot-bellied loser under 170 cm who screamed at video games and needed to “re-roll” his entire existence.

Just thinking about having to play lovey-dovey with this guy—all for a few lousy coins—sent shivers of disgust down her spine.

Even though she hadn’t seen his photo, his image was already vividly etched in her mind.

“Whoosh.”

Another message popped up.

#1 Online Good Son:
“Master~ Master~ 🥵 Say something mean again!”

Hua Xin: “………”

She silently deleted the entire chat window.

Absolutely speechless. Was this guy even human? Did he have any boundaries?! 🥺!!!

Though her body had transformed into that of a soft, adorable girl, her soul remained fiercely masculine—proud, strong-willed, and absolutely not for sale, no matter how many coins were offered.

If it were her 2D waifus asking, she’d be crying tears of joy—but alas, this “husband” was just a gross, shrimp-headed, neckbeard manlet 🦐.

Xia Yan noticed she’d gone silent. His expression didn’t change—still calm, still gentle. He quickly typed in the dorm group chat: “Don’t wait for me after class.”

Then, from his desk, he pulled out a stack of brand-new textbooks—Hua Xin’s set.

He glanced at his own slightly worn, page-curling books and smiled softly.

Official school textbooks cost a solid ¥300—most freshmen just paid without question.
But he knew you could buy secondhand copies from seniors for under ¥100… sometimes even under ¥50 for the whole set.

Many students found buying used books embarrassing—too “cheap” for their pride.
But Xia Yan didn’t care. Saving money mattered. So he and Mu Feng, Xiang Guan had all gone the secondhand route.

The pristine books in his desk drawer? He’d paid for them himself.

He’d also noticed Hua Xin’s worn clothes, scuffed shoes… and that cracked phone screen.
He saw it all.

“Here,” he said softly, leaning slightly toward her. “These are your textbooks. I’ll send you the class schedule later.”

He reached to take her backpack so he could put the books inside.

But Hua Xin—still lost in her own thoughts—hadn’t processed his words. When she saw his hand reaching behind her, her brain short-circuited.

Oh no—he’s finally had enough!
He’s going to beat me up right here, cornered against the wall!

Flashbacks of being pinned down, head slammed into desks, filled her mind.

(It’s okay… class is still going… the teacher’s right there…)
(He’ll protect me, right…?)
(Please don’t kick my kidneys again 😭😭)
(I’ll scream! I really will!)
I have to… fight back… (sniffle)
Where’s my hammer? WHERE’S MY HAMMER?!! 🔨

Suddenly, she snapped to attention—her hammer, hidden in her bag, was her guardian angel!

But—oh no—her backpack was already in Xia Yan’s hands!

Instinctively, her hands, hidden in her sleeves, shot out and clamped tightly onto his arm, trying to stop him from opening the bag.
This was the first time in years she’d touched another person.

(Crap crap crap crap—)
(Don’t smash my head with the hammer… I’ll die 😵…)

Panic froze her in place, her hands still gripping his arm like a lifeline.

Xia Yan paused—then saw it: the glint of a small hammer shining inside her bag… and Hua Xin, head down, trembling, clinging to him like her life depended on it.

He nearly burst out laughing.
Who brings a HAMMER to school?!

But the smile faded quickly. He looked at her—really looked—and his voice softened.

“Don’t worry. No one’s going to hurt you.”
“I promise. You can come to class without fear.”
“These… are just your textbooks.”
He pointed to the fresh stack on his desk.

What on earth has this kid been through?

Mr. Wang’s voice boomed on, but Xia Yan was so close now that Hua Xin could hear every gentle word clearly.

…?

She yanked her hands back as if electrocuted.

Now that she thought about it—on the way to school, during online leave requests, even now—Xia Yan had always been kind, patient, nothing like the bully she’d imagined.

He’d even seated her in the very back row, away from prying eyes.

…Had she completely misunderstood him?

This wasn’t some violent thug.

This was… a righteous, heaven-sent magistrate! 😭!!!!

As he placed the books gently into her bag and handed it back, Hua Xin’s eyes welled up with tears. She clutched the bag to her chest, leaning against the wall, overwhelmed.

Wait—what was happening?

She barely knew this sunshine-y “normie” named Xia… Xia-something!
Why was he going out of his way for her? Why so kind? (She was practically crying now.)

Do good people like this really exist…?
If I could make a million, I’d marry five of him! 😋

“Th-thank… you…” she whispered, her voice still slightly androgynous—more boyish than girlish.

Xia Yan blinked, then smiled warmly. “You’re welcome.”

“So… we’re friends now, right?”

He neatly closed his own textbook and set it aside.
He talked to me… That’s a great start. ☺️

Then, with a mysterious air, he picked up her bag again and leaned in.

“Now, as friends, there’s one thing we must do first…”

(First thing…?)
(Wait a second…)

Suddenly, a viral video she’d once seen popped into her head:

“Xiao Ming invites you to a foot massage after school. What do you do?”
A. Stay away from Xiao Ming.
B. Counsel and guide Xiao Ming.
C. Go with Xiao Ming and enjoy.
D. Go for the full “one-stop” package.

Sure, free stuff was tempting…
But in her current body? With someone she just met?
Wasn’t a foot massage way too intimate for day one?

And why am I even considering option D?! 😨
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!

She clutched her phone in despair.

“We’ll leave early,” Xia Yan said softly. “That way, there won’t be many people around.”

Before she could react, he’d already taken her bag, gently tugged her sleeve, and slipped out the back door with her.

It wasn’t until the motorcycle roared to life—“vroom vroom!”—that she finally processed what was happening.

(This guy… is literally a saint reincarnated…)
(People like him should have FIVE kids in one birth! 😇)

For the first time in ages, Hua Xin looked up at the sunlight-dappled trees and flowers—and felt a flicker of peace.

Maybe… the outside world isn’t so scary after all?

But then—suddenly—a guy in SpongeBob pajama pants, an Ah Q–style red checkered shirt, and flip-flops turned and stared at her with a weird, lingering gaze.

She instantly ducked behind Xia Yan.

…Never mind.

Child speaks without thinking—please forgive me!
That look really did scare the heck out of me 😭😭.
