Chapter 25 25. As the saying goes, the enemy of your enemy is still your enemy 🤔

Jan 08, 2026 1,545 words

“You know bro Выврагのdüşman Nicht unbedingt Tu amigo, so we must be cautious with our words and actions.”
——Excerpt from Hua Xin’s Collected Works

“Remember, you’re going to ask what type of person he likes.” (Click)(Click)

Xia Yan pointed at the person standing to the side, striking poses while waiting for passersby, as a photographer enthusiastically snapped photos of this “fashion trend”… uh, probably a man.

“He likes what type of person, got it?”

“Don’t be afraid, I’m right behind you.”

Xia Yan said this while eating biscuits. In two or three bites, he finished an entire pack, then gently patted the girl on the shoulder.

Hua Xin: 😨🥺

Her legs felt weak as she nodded in a daze.

In reality, she hadn’t heard a single word Xia Yan said. Her mind was completely filled with the terror of having to interview a stranger alone.

(Xia Yan, I’ll kill you 😭.)
(You said you’d back me up… 🦌)
(This guy looks shady as hell, all in black with a hood…)
(Could he be from some gang? 😭)
(No, wait, do gangs even exist anymore? Ahahaha 😭…)

The girl’s eyes seemed to form two spirals as she was pushed by Xia Yan, stumbling toward the man.

(It’s fine…)
(No gangs, calm down 🥺…)

“Hm?”
“Damn, m3, what’s going on, bro?”

The hooded man looked at Hua Xin, who was a head shorter than him, holding a neutral pen, and then at Xia Yan behind her, filming him with a camera and phone. He asked in confusion, though the excitement in his tone was impossible to hide.

He’d been standing here all morning—finally someone with taste came to interview him.

“Uh…”

Hua Xin took two frightened steps back.

(What is he saying? Is he going to kill me? This is scary—why does he talk like he’s from the West Coast? Is he a rapper? So scary…)

She turned around, wanting to run, but saw Xia Yan smiling and pointing at the camera.

“Don’t run, or your classmates and teachers will see you running away.”

That was what Xia Yan seemed to be silently saying.

The girl quietly turned back.

(What kind of friend is this…)
(This is a bad person 🥺.)

With her sleeves half covering her hands, she held the pen like a microphone. Her hand trembled as she stammered:

“Excuse… excuse me…”
“May I ask what you most… most…”

Her mind went blank.

Most what again?

She hadn’t remembered what Xia Yan said!

“Bro m3 damn, what is it? I’m m3 short on time.”

The hooded man pretended to be impatient, though inside the hood his ears were practically standing straight up, waiting for her question.

“Type, type…”

Xia Yan whispered a reminder.

Oh! Right!

Hua Xin suddenly remembered and gained a bit of confidence.

“You—you most hate what type of person!”

“Eh, bro m3, this is a new segment? Pretty meaningful.”

The hooded man waved his hands dramatically, then said seriously:

“I hate girls who wear that m3… Lolita stuff. Don’t you think it’s weird and complicated? All those huge petticoats, like they’re afraid people won’t notice what they’re wearing.”

“It’s annoying, m3.”

Hua Xin: 😲 (Sudden realization, though not understanding why.)
Xia Yan: 😨 (Cold sweat pouring.)

“Thank you for your cooperation. Um… please wait here for a moment. We need to interview some others for our program and will be back soon.”

Xia Yan quickly ended the interview and dragged the girl away at lightning speed.

“I’ll wait for you, bro.”
“m3~”

The hooded man’s voice echoed behind them. Xia Yan stopped at a corner, looking at the recorded video on his phone, his mouth twitching.

Their assignment was about to exceed everyone’s expectations.

Originally, Xia Yan wanted the theme to be “What type of person do you like?” and have people shyly answer.

But now it was about to turn into enemies meeting face to face.

Still… it felt pretty interesting!

As long as they ran before any fighting started 😉.

With a slight smile, Xia Yan turned to look at the culprit.

Hua Xin stood proudly against the wall, arms crossed, very pleased with her performance.

Who said she was socially anxious?
Who said that?
Who?!

“That interview was great.”

“Come on, let’s find the next lucky participant.”

Xia Yan didn’t blame her—instead, he encouraged her.

(I haven’t forgotten you threatening me earlier…)

The girl shot him a dark look.

————————
A few minutes later.

“Excuse me… what type of person do you hate the most?”

Compared to before, she was much smoother this time, though she still kept her head down.

The girl in Lolita fashion glanced a few times at Xia Yan behind Hua Xin, a flash of delight in her eyes.

“Well, I hate those skinny guys—thin arms, thin legs, loud mouths, wandering troublemakers.”

She rolled her eyes 🙄, speaking disdainfully.

“OK, thank you for your answer. Please wait here—we’ll come back later.”

Xia Yan stopped the recording on both the camera and phone, speaking calmly to her.

His smile was too lethal for girls; for Hua Xin’s sake, it was better not to invite trouble.

He then grabbed the girl’s sleeve and ran off.

Hua Xin: (Proud.)

——————
A few minutes later.

“What do you think about this gentleman in the photo?”

Since the assignment required everyone to appear on camera, Xia Yan now held the pen, interviewing a tall, skinny guy in white shorts and a white T-shirt.

He showed the hooded man’s photo on his phone.

The skinny guy frowned slightly.

“Well, this brother looks… trendy, interesting, very…”

Xia Yan: “Tell the truth.”

Skinny guy: “Ugly as hell. Not like Batman—more like Grey Wolf stealing Pleasant Goat’s down jacket.”

“Cut.”

Xia Yan gestured to the girl, then quickly took the devices from her.

(I’m exhausted… 😇)
(I want to go home… 🥺)

Under her clothes and mask, sweat-soaked hair stuck to her forehead and cheeks, her face flushed pink.

Her physical stamina was really poor.

“Come with us for a bit and finish the segment?”

“No problem, bro. I’m a street loafer anyway.”

————————
A few minutes later.

The hooded man, the Lolita girl, and the skinny guy stood together, staring at each other.

Hooded man: “m3, sis, nice fashion sense.”
Lolita girl: “Too kind, too kind. You too—and this guy’s pretty handsome as well.”
Skinny guy: “Thanks, thanks. You two as well.”

An incredibly harmonious scene 🕊️.

Xia Yan opened his phone and played the earlier recordings ▶️.

“I hate girls who wear Lolita…”
“I hate skinny loudmouths…”
“Ugly as hell, not like Batman…”

Xia Yan: “Successful friendship earns a mysterious gift.”

He immediately retreated to Hua Xin’s side.

The hooded man exploded first:

“What the hell? Who’s wearing Pleasant Goat’s jacket? This hood costs more than half your yearly salary, damn!”

Skinny guy sneered coldly: “Looks like gauze.”

Hooded man: 😡

The Lolita girl wasn’t one to be bullied either:

“What’s wrong with Lolita, huh?”
“What’s wrong with it?”
“My skirt costs more than your whole collection of hoods. Wearing that edgy coffin cap—afraid people might see your face?”

“Learn to talk properly with that fake foreign language.”

Skinny guy fired both ways:

“What’s wrong with skinny guys? What’s wrong? 😡”
“I eat your rice or something?”

Lolita girl rolled her eyes: “Oh please, I could knock you out with one punch. Giving you a bag of rice isn’t impossible.”

Skinny guy sneered: “Yeah, with your build you look like an African tank. Even Tyson wouldn’t survive a punch.”

Lolita girl: 😡

“I’ll show you skinny doesn’t mean weak!”

The skinny guy stepped back and did a standing flip.

“My cat can do flips. What’s so special?”

Skinny guy: 😡

Then they all suddenly realized something and fell silent.

Looking at the now-empty spot where two people had been standing, they snorted coldly and went their separate ways.

(One minute earlier.) ↓

“Go, go, go—run!”

Xia Yan shut off the camera and phone and dragged Hua Xin toward the motorcycle.

The laughter in his eyes couldn’t be hidden.

Though he felt a bit guilty—

The girl’s beautiful eyes sparkled like stars, her second genuine smile appearing outside.

Xia Yan was really bad.

But…

Watching the drama 🍉…

It was…

Way too fun, wow!!! 😆
