Chapter 134: Master Gongshu Charges Forward!

Tingyun's sudden words immediately drew everyone's attention—after all, with her exaggerated tone just now, it was hard not to pay attention!

"Um... Miss Tingyun, are you actually quite knowledgeable about these things?" March 7th asked cautiously, her voice tinged with a hint of apprehension.

"Ahem, my apologies, esteemed benefactors. I accidentally got a bit too excited upon seeing such a rarely encountered life form," Tingyun quickly realized her own odd behavior. After clearing her throat a few times, she explained, "As a member of the Luofu's Sky-Faring Commission, I naturally have to lead merchant fleets through the cosmos from time to time, so I've come to know a bit more about various things."

"Everyone may not know this, but energy-based life forms are extremely rare in the universe. Their birth and demise are often processes unknown to others. But if you think about it this way, you'll understand—"

"The war between the Xianzhou and the Sui Yang occurred thousands of years ago. Over such a long period, even the Xianzhou people have gone through generations, yet this Sui Yang... isn't it still sealed inside the furnace?"

It's as if these thousands of years mean absolutely nothing to these energy life forms?

But then again, the birth, aging, sickness, and death of carbon-based life forms are mostly due to defects or limitations at the genetic level, causing their bodily functions to decline after reaching a certain peak until they completely age and wither.

However, these life forms composed entirely of energy naturally lack so-called cells and genes. Theoretically, they wouldn't be troubled by organ failure... Could it be that as long as no external forces interfere, they simply won't die?

This is indeed something quite intriguing, isn't it?

"Pondering such relatively meaningless questions holds little value—you envy them for having lives unbound by flesh, but perhaps they might even envy humans more for having bodies capable of perceiving a wider range of things?" Welt had no desire to discuss such pointless questions. Instead, he adjusted his glasses and spoke thus.

If you put it that way, theoretically, a Herrscher's body doesn't age at all. The Herrscher of Reason could even use their abilities at any time to construct a body that remains perpetually at its peak.

But what's the point of that? Simply pursuing the extension of life is a completely meaningless proposition... It's best if it's merely a method and process, not the goal itself.

You could do it to seek longer companionship or to sustain the continuation of a lonely civilization... But if one day you abandon your original will and make longevity itself the goal of your pursuit, then destruction is imminent.

Those civilizations enlightened by The Abundance were initially able to maintain their pursuit of civilization. But usually, in the end, they would degenerate into abominations solely chasing 'eternal life.'

Don't even mention that it's a false proposition that doesn't exist at all. Even if one could truly reach the realm of eternal life—what meaning would eternal life hold after having already abandoned everything?

"Well said! These creatures might sound impressive, but in the end, weren't they still sealed in a furnace by the Xianzhou?"

That Master Gongshu chuckled and said, "But having said that, they really are experts at burning things. Now this place is full of roots everywhere. If that thing really escapes, it would be a huge disaster... I really don't want to see the Artisanship Commission I've toiled in for most of my life burned to ashes."

"As the 'Number One Master Craftsman of Melding Gold and Smelting Iron,' protecting the Artisanship Commission is something I—cannot shirk!"

With his exaggerated theatrical tone, Master Gongshu called out to his two wondrous automatons and charged straight up the steps ahead, leaving the remaining few behind looking at each other in bewilderment.

"Master Gongshu charged up there all by himself! Let's hurry and catch up!"

Following March 7th's shout, the rest of the group hurriedly followed up the towering steps before them layer by layer.

After roughly several minutes of running at full speed, the group finally managed to ascend onto the high platform before them. Poor little Elysia though—her pitifully short legs had to take at least three steps to match one step of others. This was practically bullying!

But once they completely reached the top, the few who were inevitably somewhat out of breath had absolutely no chance to rest because their gazes were completely captivated by the awe-inspiring scene before them—

"Oh my goodness, from afar earlier it wasn't apparent... but this 'Ambrosial Arbor' is actually this huge?!"

The tree trunk displayed before everyone now was at least several meters thick in diameter. It even stretched upwards into the sky for nearly a hundred meters. Only at a height almost impossible to see clearly did it finally branch out and spread its leaves in all directions.

And right in the center of this massive trunk was wedged the large furnace Master Gongshu mentioned—it was at least over ten meters in size. Yet now it was bizarrely propped up by this section of trunk, appearing quite bloated upon closer inspection.

"That is the Artisanship Commission's treasure, the 'Creation Furnace.' Little ones, come quickly and help this old man! Let's join forces and chop it down. We absolutely cannot let it truly penetrate the furnace!"

Master Gongshu hurriedly took the lead, directing his automatons closer to the Ambrosial Arbor's massive trunk. Compared to it, his automatons—though each about half a person's size—seemed utterly laughable and insignificant. No one would possibly believe they could easily chop down such a colossal plant.

However, the actual area of this plaza was quite vast. Their current position was still at least a hundred meters away from this Ambrosial Arbor. Before they could get close, golden light suddenly began swirling along the patterns on various parts of the massive trunk, seemingly converging unanimously on a huge bud right in front of the group.

With a soft pop, that enormous bud suddenly burst into bloom. For a moment, floral mist scattered everywhere, almost completely obscuring their surroundings.

Tap—tap—

As the mist gradually dispersed, the sound of footsteps also grew clearer—but what finally appeared before their eyes wasn't some flower fairy. Instead, it was something over five meters tall, holding its head high, gazing coldly at everyone with indifferent eyes... an Xuanlu?

Its body was almost entirely covered in dark, seemingly extremely hard vines and branches. Only its neck and small parts of its torso revealed patches of deep indigo skin in varying shades.

As for the antlers on its forehead, they were even stranger—they were completely like some peculiar branches growing on top. The fan-like spread of its antlers was nearly half the size of its body.

Yet this product combining plant and animal still managed to exude a certain... majesty?

"What... what kind of monster is this?!"

Master Gongshu's face paled with fright!
