Chapter 63 Chapter 63: The Finale of Fate Approaches—
Chapter 63: The Finale of Fate Approaches—
"Unfortunately, this is just a remnant... an energy residue replicated by the Fragmentum."
When everyone gathered around the figure March 7th had pointed out earlier, they realized it was merely an illusion, like something projected by a 3D projector.
Given the Fragmentum's replicating characteristics and unstable spatial properties, such occurrences were indeed quite possible.
"Mother..."
Upon seeing this image and the cold expression on Cocolia's face, Bronya, who had been firm in her beliefs, immediately became downcast. After all, she couldn't understand at all why her mother would make such a choice.
...Was she truly completely controlled by the Stellaron?
"I say, you, seeing a worthless broken illusion makes you hesitate and waver like this. If you actually saw her in person later, wouldn't you just stab us in the back right away?"
Seele wasn't one to indulge such sentimental types at all. She went straight in with a dose of Underworld's finest cultural output, schooling Bronya so thoroughly that she could only stare at her own toes. It took several seconds before Bronya raised her head again.
"Please rest assured, I will absolutely not hold you back!"
"Hmph, if that's really the case, then that's for the best."
For some reason, the two of them just seemed inherently incompatible, able to argue over anything... though usually it was Seele lecturing Bronya.
"Alright, alright, you two sisters should stop quarreling like a little couple for now. Since this shadow appeared here and walked in that direction ahead, it means the path I'm leading is completely correct. If we keep going forward, we'll find the Stellaron."
Little Elysia stopped the argument between Bronya and Seele in a rather novel way, even successfully steering the conversation back on track.
"Who's a couple with this Overworld person?!"
"I... how could I possibly do something like that?!"
Replying in such perfect unison, yet still dare to say you're not a little couple?
Little Elysia rolled her eyes, even throwing a 'see, just as I thought' look at the three people behind her, before turning back to Bronya and Seele with a cute smile.
"Understood, understood~ Then, you two sisters, let's hurry up and go now~"
This team would fall apart sooner or later without me, little Elysia!
After another ten minutes or so, everyone finally reached the true end of this Fragmentum area—a long staircase leading to a distant mountaintop. It felt like in the distant past of Jarilo-VI, before it was affected by the Stellaron, this place might very well have been some scenic spot or famous landmark.
"We're here! Our destination lies ahead! At this very moment, the fate of this entire world and civilization rests in our hands... Charge, everyone! We have to climb these hundred steps in one go!"
Looking at this seemingly endless staircase, then at Elysia's current short legs... Clearly, compared to Cocolia or the Stellaron, this long staircase before them was her greatest and most terrifying challenge on the path to the end.
"So... ahead is the place where everything will be decided?" Seele paused slightly before looking at her companions beside her. "Strange, I thought I'd be scared or nervous, but I'm not feeling any of that. The only thing I feel right now is... a bit unreal?"
"Do Trailblaze journeys always end like this?"
Stelle, who also felt somewhat this way, turned her head to look at Dan Heng beside her. He kindly provided an answer for her: "The train travels from one world to another. We are merely passersby, witnesses to stories. We always try to avoid being swept into tides that decide a world's life or death... but sometimes we have no choice."
Being swept into moments that decide a world's life or death means they must shoulder the corresponding responsibilities and pressures. So generally, they choose to deal with the Stellaron in a relatively low-key manner and then leave.
"In other words—Stelle, your first Trailblaze journey has been incredibly lucky!"
March 7th added with a laugh: "Happy adventures don't have that many rules and restrictions! Helping those in need, making trustworthy friends, and incidentally saving the world a few times along the way—that's the spirit of Trailblazing!"
"Sigh, it sounds so fun..."
Unfortunately, that blockhead Kevin definitely wouldn't agree to them joining such a troublesome organization. No, she had to think of a way herself...
"I was feeling somewhat lost before, but seeing your optimistic attitudes suddenly makes these difficulties seem insignificant... Let's go. Let's face Belobog's future!"
In the end, it was Bronya who first stepped onto the stairs leading to the mountaintop, striding step by step toward the finale belonging solely to her own civilization.
As they progressed deeper, the originally orderly stairs gradually turned into layers of accumulated snow. The surrounding temperature plummeted at a terrifying rate.
"Brrr—so cold. Relying on just a bit of Trailblaze power doesn't seem enough to withstand this temperature anymore."
March 7th kept rubbing her arms with her hands. Bronya's cheeks were even paler from the cold; she could only huddle slightly behind Seele, trying to escape the gusts of icy wind.
After they finally emerged from the narrow valley, not only did various architectural ruins come back into view, but the path to the summit was also lined with strangely shaped ice sculptures.
"Eek... what are all these things? They look really scary."
March 7th tiptoed over to an ice sculpture lying on the ground and gently tapped it with her foot. "When the Antimatter Legion's minions invaded this world, they probably never imagined they'd be swallowed by the cold wave, right? But... is this thing inside the ice still alive...?"
A normal person would have been long dead beyond dead, but these Antimatter Legion guys weren't exactly normal people!
"How about we name it March 3rd?" Stelle suggested thoughtfully, chin in hand.
"Hey! How can you still be in the mood for jokes like that now?!"
Even though she also hatched from ice, she was completely different from these Antimatter Legion guys!
That said, these ice sculptures lining the mountain path indeed each looked incredibly lifelike, making one wonder if these creatures would come back to life once the ice thawed.
The Stellaron's power had indeed sealed away these monsters invading civilization, but it had also sealed away Belobog's possibility of rekindling its civilization...
First of all, thank you everyone for subscribing!!!!!!
Honestly, when it went on sale, I never expected the results to be this good, so I completely didn't dare to set goals (whispers)
Then, encouraged by friends in the group chat, I decided to give it another push!
Roughly: one chapter per 100 monthly votes, one chapter per 10k tips (打赏), one chapter per 100 blades (刀片)!
Silver Treasure Chest: five chapters; Gold Treasure Chest: twenty chapters!
Though I feel like big treasure chests are unlikely ()
