Chapter 191: A Radiance That Rivals the Stars

At the very moment Kevin's words fell, he swung down the blade over a meter long in his hand. The erupting flames were like a storm bursting forth from a star, instantly sweeping across Phantylia's body and shooting straight into the sky—

—BOOM!!!

Even though this attack was completely confined to Phantylia's direction, the others behind Kevin didn't fare much better—because the crimson light, like that of the sun, first flooded their vision. Before they could even react from being blinded, an ear-splitting roar abruptly pierced their eardrums the very next second.

This certainly didn't cause any real harm; Kevin's control over his power was extremely precise. However... the psychological trauma left behind probably wouldn't be so easy to heal.

After easily piercing through Phantylia's body, this scorching power showed not the slightest sign of weakening. Instead, it plowed a trench tens of thousands of meters long across the sea surface above the Scalegorge Waterscape before finally dissipating into the sky at the last moment.

As is well known, the lowest temperature in the universe is -273.15°C. At such a temperature, the heat stored within objects is completely stripped away, and even molecular motion comes to a complete halt—to some extent, it's entirely fitting to call it a temperature that can even freeze time.

Theoretically speaking, however, the highest temperature in the universe can be extended infinitely. From zero to one thousand, from one thousand to tens of thousands, from tens of thousands to hundreds of millions... all the way approaching the heat generated by the explosion of that 'singularity' during the universe's birth.

Although the theory of a cosmic explosion is merely wishful thinking by some humans, no one can deny that while cold has its limits, heat can theoretically be infinitely superimposed on a certain foundation—until it reaches a level where all energy in the universe is concentrated.

This is the theoretical limit of this universe.

In its initial conception, the ultimate form of the Judgment of Shamash, the Calamity Form, was supposed to have explosive power equal to the radiance of a star at its demise.

But Kevin knew very well that the current Judgment of Shamash had long since broken free from its original framework. Kevin couldn't determine exactly how much power he was unleashing... but it had definitely surpassed his former self.

"How terrifying... this power actually makes even the divine power of the Ambrosial Arbor resist."

Even though her entire body seemed split in two, Phantylia still maintained her original form. However, on that vertical wound from top to bottom, a bright red mark like molten lava flickered intermittently, as if locked in a prolonged tug-of-war.

"However, 'Salvation'... that's quite a boastful title. I'm beginning to understand why even Amber Lord, who remains as unmoved as a stone towards all things, would take an interest in you..."

Although from a certain perspective, the title 'Salvation' is far less encompassing than 'Preservation'—at least interpreted literally, it sounds even more grand and lofty than so-called 'Preservation'.

So for someone who treats 'Salvation' as their life and ideal, why they would so detest 'Destruction' naturally needs no further explanation, right?

"Even while wielding this power brimming with destruction, you stubbornly believe you're still that heroic savior, don't you?"

The more she spoke, the more subtle Phantylia's expression became: "Body in darkness yet heart yearning for light—what a touching and inspiring story! Unfortunately, compared to that, I'm more interested in... how to drag you, this 'Karmic Demon,' completely into the abyss of destruction..."

Theoretically speaking, every Emanator of an Aeon can at least reach stellar-level power—meaning they can effortlessly destroy a star in its prime.

After all, not every Aeon generously bestows their own power upon their Emanators. But there are always some figures at the 'Emanator' level who receive divine favor and gain the authority to wield divine power—even destroying an entire galaxy cluster isn't particularly difficult for them.

And clearly, that Aeon representing 'Destruction' is not at all stingy in granting power to its apostles.

Having said that, Phantylia paid no further mind to that hideous and terrifying wound on her body. This physical form was merely a temporary vessel crafted from the Ambrosial Arbor's power for her. As long as it served its purpose, even complete destruction wouldn't cause her much impact.

As Phantylia raised her massive right hand and slowly clenched it towards Kevin hovering mid-air, a dark cage formed purely from condensed energy materialized without warning around Kevin, continuously compressing inward to restrict his movement space.

As the area shrank, the energy enveloping Kevin gradually intensified until it condensed into substance... From beginning to end, pure energy shouldn't possess any weight. Or rather, their weight should be negligible enough to ignore.

But Kevin could clearly sense that this energy solidified around him might have reached an unimaginable level of actual mass.

Moreover, it not only formed a gravitational field similar to Star of Eden's to restrain Kevin's limbs but also carried some kind of negative energy constantly eroding Kevin's mind... Even for Kevin in his current state, this couldn't be considered completely without effect.

However, if Phantylia truly thought this alone could end the battle, she was completely mistaken.

"I have absolutely no interest in the abyss you speak of."

Kevin raised the Judgment of Shamash in his hand, gathering power slightly before swinging it horizontally. Fierce flames instantly burst forth with the blade's radiance, charging towards the cage ahead—

BOOM—!

That seemingly substantial cage held firm against the terrifying inferno for several seconds before finally shattering completely, exploding into scattered energy that destroyed large swathes of Ambrosial Arbor roots around.

And Kevin's attack naturally followed its original trajectory, flashing before Phantylia once more and piercing through her body again.

This massive form might seem terrifying, but when combatants reach similar power levels, an overly large body becomes a shackle instead, leaving no room for evasion.

But to completely shatter this form condensed from the Ambrosial Arbor... indeed requires administering a potent dose.

Realizing simple basic attacks were useless, Kevin unhesitatingly raised the greatsword in his hands high above his head, allowing energy from within his body to surge madly into it.

"Even if there truly are so-called deities, they should understand—"

"Even the most ordinary life can burst forth with a radiance that rivals the stars."
