Chapter 56 Little Elysia: So?

The dozen or so hours quickly passed in a drowsy haze. At that time, March 7th even wanted to stay in bed and not get up. In the end, Stelle dragged her, blanket and all, off the bed, and she barely managed to crawl up from the floor.

"Haa— So sleepy. Why do we have to set off at this hour? Can't we let people rest properly before acting? Wouldn't that be more efficient?"

March 7th's complaint had just left her mouth when Dan Heng mercilessly exposed her: "You've already slept for twelve hours. Stelle woke up even three hours earlier than you... Hurry up and perk up a bit. The next actions aren't child's play anymore."

"Uh... Isn't it normal for a beautiful girl to rest a little longer? Otherwise, how can she maintain her liveliness and cuteness all day!"

This statement seemed to have some twisted logic, so what kind of creature exactly sleeps for over twelve hours a day?

While March 7th was fooling around intermittently, the three of them also followed the main force of Wildfire onto the road heading towards the Furnace Core area. Although it could still be considered completely midnight at this time, the Underworld, after all, has no sun and cannot see the sky. As long as you step outside the city area, it remains that pitch black.

Along the way, the members of Wildfire hardly spoke an extra word, because they knew this might truly be the moment deciding the survival of the Underworld. In such an environment of darkness and silence, March 7th gradually became quiet too.

Finally, after about half an hour, the group arrived at the shaft next to their destination. Naturally, there was only one way for them to go up: taking the cable car that March 7th and the others had used to come down.

This seemingly large team actually only had about a dozen people, including March 7th's group and Seele, who would take the cable car to the Overworld. The remaining hundred or so people were merely the backup force waiting below at any time.

"To be honest, everyone, I actually don't know how likely this operation is to succeed... But one thing is undeniable: this is very likely the Underworld's last chance."

When this dozen-strong vanguard squad was assembled at the front, the one who spoke these words to them wasn't Oleg, who had always been Wildfire's leader, but the doctor standing beside him, Natasha—the one almost everyone had been treated by.

"We aren't fighting for some lofty ideal... The reason everyone joined Wildfire is simply for themselves, for the child next door who lost their mother before being weaned, for the elderly wandering the streets."

"Please, don't try to be heroes. If any unexpected situation arises that you can't handle, notify us immediately. Everyone in Wildfire will provide you with swift support at any time..."

  "Everyone, I'm counting on you."

Most people only knew Oleg as Wildfire's leader. Yet, for some reason, at this very moment, this doctor named Natasha displayed an even more outstanding leadership quality.

Not due to some forceful leadership power, but that determination and gentleness emanating from the heart, which everyone could feel.

"Don't worry, Nat. With me here, nothing will go wrong with this operation. Not only that, I'll bring everyone back safe and sound."

Looking at the person who raised her and also devoted most of her life to the Underworld, Seele promised very seriously: "It's also time to let those guys in the Overworld, who are used to throwing their weight around, see what us Underworld folks are capable of!"

This wasn't even an empty boast. After undergoing Kevin's special training, Seele's strength had definitely surpassed everyone in Belobog. Even facing a fully armed Silvermane Guard squad alone would be absolutely no problem for her.

And if not for this very moment, why would she have fought so desperately before?

"Remember, Seele, our goal is to make life better for the people of the Underworld. You must also never harm innocent people. Finally... you must come back safely."

Facing Natasha's sincere words, Seele pretended not to care and waved her hand: "I said don't worry. Just trust me."

After some simple instructions and tactical arrangements, the dozen or so people of the vanguard squad finally boarded the cable car leading to the Overworld.

It was impossible not to feel nervous. After all, they didn't know what kind of difficulties and enemies they would face after going up, whether they could succeed, or if they could even return.

The only two who weren't nervous and were even somewhat excited were probably Stelle and March 7th, whose thought processes weren't quite normal.

"A night raid on the enemy camp? This is my first time doing something so thrilling... How many enemies do you think we might face later? What if they already know our plan and set up an ambush early?"

"How could that be? There's clearly only this one road to the Overworld, right?"

Stelle shook her head, rejecting the possibility March 7th proposed. After all, she really couldn't think of any reason why the Overworld could get advance information.

"That's true too? Then we'll go straight for the Supreme Guardian's palace when we get there, capturing the ringleader first! That way she'll have no choice but to issue orders to liberate the Underworld and also tell us about the Stellaron's location~"

   Brilliant strategy!

Stelle immediately nodded and gave March 7th a thumbs-up.

   "......"

"Leader Oleg should have already told you guys, right? For this operation, you absolutely must follow my commands to the letter. If any problems arise because of you guys, I definitely won't let you off."

Seele turned her head and glared at these two. How could things possibly be as easy as they thought? Moreover, this matter was of great importance; she absolutely wouldn't go easy on them.

"Got it, got it, our Captain Seele~"

Although the reply wasn't very serious, fortunately March 7th didn't spout any more nonsense for the rest of the journey. The group successfully reached the top by cable car and then carefully pushed open the door with anxious hearts.

   Creak—

The long-unused door inevitably made a groaning sound under strain, but most people's focus wasn't on fearing whether anyone would hear this noise.

"Wow... Is the sky in the Overworld always this bright?"

This was even the first time for the younger generation in the team to see the real sky. Even if it was just the dim and gloomy appearance close to dawn, it was enough to make them exclaim and become entranced.

But this brief moment of beauty didn't last long before an unexpected event occurred...

   Click-clack-clack————!

The originally empty surroundings suddenly rang with sounds of guns being cocked. Immediately after, Bronya also stepped out from the shadows, staring intently at Seele, who was clearly the leader.

"I have been waiting for a long time, rebels of the Underworld."

   ———— ————

"They've all set off for the Overworld. Aren't you worried at all?"

The commotion over at the shaft naturally couldn't escape Kevin's notice in Svarog's mansion not far away. At this moment, little Elysia was lying on a nearby seat (don't ask why she was lying instead of sitting—that question is clearly unimportant!), looking up at Kevin who seemed engrossed in reading.

"I've said it many times; this is an inevitable process in a civilization's development... Excessive intervention regarding this cannot be considered a good thing."

Kevin's philosophy wasn't without reason. Even if modern people traveled back hundreds of years with a bunch of firearms and knowledge trying to change history, it would only make it more erroneous and chaotic.

"But I remember you took on a little apprentice or something? That kid went up too? You really don't plan to show a little concern?"

Little Elysia continued trying to tempt him: "If that really won't do, you can take me up to take a look too. I won't do anything; I just want to witness this civilization's critical moment. That should be okay, right?"

   "......"

If Kevin remained unresponsive, little Elysia might even keep chattering nonstop in his ear; she simply wouldn't stop.

   Snap—

Kevin, who had been silent all along, suddenly closed the book in his hand and turned to walk towards outside the courtyard.

"Hey hey, where are you going?"

   "Taking a walk."

"A walk? Walking is good; older people should exercise more... Hey hey hey, no no no! Wait! At least take me with you! Come back! Come back!!!"

How can you be so selfish!!!

What's rather frustrating is that I actually planned to start writing this book back in May. But at that time I got tripped up by relationship issues (emotional entanglements), so I completely missed catching any hype...

(And in the end the outcome was terrible; my whole head is green with forgiveness QAQ)

Finally managed to make it to being available for purchase/subscription (上架), so of course I'll work hard on adding more chapters!

Although I don't know how tomorrow's performance will turn out; this data really makes me lack confidence... But I just hope everyone can give more initial subscriptions (首订)! Thank you all!

Of course regarding the story aspect too—if everyone has any characters they particularly want to see, you can tell me! I'll try to see if I can incorporate them into the story!

   Thanking everyone again!

   Please subscribe! Please!
