How the hell was she supposed to respond to that?
Seeing her look so embarrassed, He Xiaohan fell silent. Her originally fair cheeks were now tinged with red, looking soft and rosy.
He deliberately paused for a few seconds, watching as her pink lips pressed together slightly, a hint of amusement appearing in his eyes.
“Just keep the money,” He Xiaohan said gently. “What’s your name?”
“Xu Wanning,” Xu Yecheng answered crisply.
She watched him lift his coffee and take a sip.
“If you want to repay me,” he continued, “then help me with something.”
Xu Yecheng instantly felt troubled. Why did everything feel like it was veering off from how she’d imagined?
And honestly, seeing He Xiaohan act like this was kind of disgusting.
“What do you want me to do?” Xu Yecheng asked, her expression still fairly calm.
She almost blurted out something like “Just say it, whatever it is,” which would’ve sounded way too macho.
“Well… could you help me get your friend’s contact info?” He Xiaohan said, pulling out his phone and looking at her kindly.
At that, Xu Yecheng froze.
Wait—so he wasn’t interested in her?
“You mean the girl who was sitting next to me just now?” Xu Yecheng asked blankly.
“Mm, her. Is that okay?”
His gaze rested on her face. Xu Yecheng lowered her head slightly, hesitation creeping into her expression.
“Okay.”
She felt awkward, but still forced herself to agree.
He Xiaohan looked at her cheeks and smiled meaningfully.
“Thanks,” he said politely.
But then it hit her—she couldn’t let this crafty guy get close to Doudou.
Damn it. She’d agreed without thinking, all because of the awkwardness.
But how was she supposed to explain this now?
She’d already told Doudou that she was interested in He Xiaohan. Who would’ve thought that this sly bastard’s real target was Doudou? How was she supposed to tell Doudou to stay away from him now?
“Go call her over for me,” He Xiaohan said softly. “I’d like to get to know her.”
She could only go along with him for now—otherwise it’d be easy to give herself away.
Thinking that, Xu Yecheng turned and walked toward Doudou.
Although she’d imagined scenarios like this before, when things turned out so differently from what she’d expected, she still felt surprised—along with a wave of embarrassment, like her own self-indulgent fantasies had been exposed.
She’d somehow gone and gotten delusional again.
Her face flushed unconsciously at the thought.
Seeing that Xu Yecheng didn’t look happy at all, Doudou’s expression filled with concern.
“Don’t tell me… it failed?” Doudou asked softly.
At this point, Xu Yecheng put away that awkward look and said calmly, “He wants you to go over. He wants to get to know you…”
Doudou was confused. “Huh? Get to know me?”
Xu Yecheng nodded, just about to say something when she heard the front desk call for her.
Doudou had already turned and walked toward He Xiaohan. Xu Yecheng couldn’t help feeling worried, but the manager required the front desk staff to respond immediately, so she couldn’t delay.
She’d have to explain things later.
Doudou was a little nervous too. After all, he was a handsome guy. Even though he wasn’t really her type…
She was also confused—wasn’t this the guy Ningning liked? Why was he suddenly looking for her?

Seeing her approach, He Xiaohan kept smiling.
“Hello, how should I address you?”
Doudou looked at him blankly and replied, “My name is Dou Yuwei.”
“Mm, nice to meet you. I’m He Xiaohan.” His tone was calm as his gaze swept over her face. “May I have your contact information?”
Doudou frowned in confusion. “Why do you want my contact info?”
Aren’t you supposed to be after Ningning?!
She complained silently in her heart.
He Xiaohan chuckled, his tone unusually mature. “You’re Wanning’s friend. You should understand her better than I do.”
Doudou’s face immediately lit up.
She got it!!
Xu Yecheng placed a cup of coffee and a dessert in front of a customer, smiling as she said, “Here’s your coffee. Please enjoy.”
A strong sense of frustration welled up inside her. She’d originally planned to mess with He Xiaohan a bit.
Sure enough, she’d fallen to such a sorry state that not even such a good-looking face could save her anymore.
Xu Yecheng let out a helpless sigh. As she went upstairs, she saw Doudou wearing a bright smile.
She suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
“Ningning~” Doudou said cheerfully.
Another wave of dizziness hit her. Xu Yecheng looked even more drained than before.
She blinked and walked over to Doudou. “What is it?”
“Nothing~” Doudou kept smiling.
Xu Yecheng looked at her suspiciously. Had this girl been put under some kind of spell by He Xiaohan? Why was she so happy?
“What did He Xiaohan say to you?”
Doudou blinked and replied mysteriously, “Nothing at all.”
Xu Yecheng didn’t believe her.
“Really, nothing,” Doudou said softly. “He just called me over and said he’d mistaken me for someone—thought I was his high school classmate.”
Xu Yecheng was stunned.
“Huh? That’s it?”
Could it be that she looked okay from afar, but once Doudou got closer, he thought she was ugly?
The thought popped into Xu Yecheng’s head as she looked at Doudou’s face.
No way—Doudou was clearly very pretty.
“Yeah. We’re good friends—why would I lie to you?”
Xu Yecheng still felt doubtful, but since Doudou had said that much, pushing further might risk capsizing the boat of friendship.
If what Doudou said was true, then He Xiaohan was just plain nuts.
And Doudou probably wouldn’t lie to her.
So the odds were high that He Xiaohan really had something wrong with his head.
“It’s okay, Ningning. Don’t be sad,” Doudou thought for a moment, then comforted her. “As long as you keep persisting, you’ll definitely gain your own love.”
What Doudou didn’t expect was that as soon as she said that, Xu Yecheng’s expression darkened immediately.

She laughed internally. What the hell had she been persisting at these past few days?
Thinking about it now, Xu Yecheng found herself ridiculous.
Another wave of discomfort surged through her body.
“Doudou, listen to me,” she said. “When it comes to any relationship, always keep your guard up.”
In other words—don’t let that bastard He Xiaohan screw you over.
Doudou froze for a moment.
