Chapter 57 Chapter 57: Self-Indulgent Delusions (4)

Jan 18, 2026 1,216 words

Xu Yecheng thought about it carefully, then lowered her head to glance at her plain outfit.

Could it be that this guy liked flashy, sexy types?

Her scalp immediately tingled.

Yeah… no thanks. She’d pass on that.

By the time Xu Yecheng returned to the dorm, He Xiaohan was already sitting calmly at his desk, playing games.

Seeing that nothing seemed to have happened to him, Xu Yecheng couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed. This guy hadn’t even gotten held up by the security guards.

She sat down at her own spot. Her body seemed to regain a bit of strength, and her head no longer felt dizzy every now and then, which put her in a much better mood.

Today’s pay was a hundred yuan less than yesterday’s, and Xu Yecheng felt a little dejected.

Sure enough—once he lost interest, he couldn’t even be bothered to tip anymore.

She let out a helpless sigh. He Xiaohan glanced back at her, then turned back to his computer screen.

Not seeing Zheng Wenxuan around made Xu Yecheng a little confused. Normally, Zheng Wenxuan would be holed up in the dorm—why had he been out for so long today?

When Zheng Wenxuan finally came back, Xu Yecheng was completely shocked.

He’d cut his slightly messy hair into a short style, and his whole appearance looked much cleaner.

“Holy crap, Xuan—what is this…?” Xu Yecheng exclaimed, almost failing to recognize him.

Zheng Wenxuan scratched his head and gave a somewhat shy smile.

“So? Looks okay, right?” he asked quietly.

He Xiaohan’s gaze fell on him, and a smile suddenly appeared on his face.

“Xuan’s had a makeover—found someone you like?”

Zheng Wenxuan froze for a moment, then replied softly, “No.” After thinking carefully, he added, “But I did run into something that made me want to change.”

Xu Yecheng frowned. Was it because he’d seen her earlier when she was in her girl form?

“Holy shit—the girl from the forums sat next to me during the lecture today. Holy shit!!”

Liu Xianlin had been focused on gaming, but when he heard Zheng Wenxuan shouting, he immediately took off his headset. When he saw Zheng Wenxuan’s appearance, he was stunned too.

“With that look, are you planning to debut as a male celebrity or something?” Liu Xianlin joked cheerfully.

Zheng Wenxuan’s face darkened. “Go play your game. I’m changing my image to welcome a better version of myself—what’s wrong with that?”

Liu Xianlin laughed. “Nothing. It’s just a particularly sleazy kind of handsome.”

Zheng Wenxuan instantly felt wounded. He looked pitifully at He Xiaohan and Xu Yecheng. “Is it really that ugly?”

“Not at all,” Xu Yecheng comforted him.

“It suits your temperament,” He Xiaohan added.

Xu Yecheng blinked. Why did it feel like this guy was subtly mocking Zheng Wenxuan?

Zheng Wenxuan patted his chest as if reassuring himself. “That’s good, then.”

Xu Yecheng, however, felt a bit curious. Hearing about herself—as a girl—from someone else’s perspective was actually a pretty novel experience.

“Go on, then. You ran into that girl, and then what?” Xu Yecheng urged.

Zheng Wenxuan snorted. “Jealous, huh? I’m the only one with this kind of luck.”

“Yes, yes, yes,” Xu Yecheng replied repeatedly, sounding a bit impatient. “And then? And then?”

Seeing how interested Xu Yecheng looked, He Xiaohan grew slightly puzzled.

His gaze settled on the corner of Xu Yecheng’s eye, and the strange feeling in his heart intensified.

Zheng Wenxuan sat down, took a sip of water, and looked rather smug.

“I know you’re anxious, but calm down.”

Xu Yecheng felt speechless looking at him.

God, if she told Zheng Wenxuan that the girl was actually her, he’d probably look like he’d just eaten something truly horrific.

The thought tempted her. She was genuinely curious about his reaction.

But she wouldn’t do it.

He Xiaohan’s expression became more intrigued.

“So what are you getting at, Xuan? Did she confess to you?”

Xu Yecheng’s expression immediately turned strange.

What the hell? Why did He Xiaohan know nothing, yet just hearing him say that made her feel offended?

So this was how she looked in this guy’s eyes?

Of course, this kind of joke was normal—she used to tease Zheng Wenxuan like that too.

But when it came from He Xiaohan, Xu Yecheng felt especially irritated.

“Dream on. Look at her conditions,” Zheng Wenxuan said, his expression dimming a bit. He sighed helplessly. “Actually, it was nothing much. She just happened to sit next to me during the lecture.”

“Quite a coincidence,” He Xiaohan chuckled.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought too,” Zheng Wenxuan said excitedly. “She’s even prettier in person than in the photos. Such a slim waist—just that her chest is a bit small.”

Xu Yecheng suddenly felt a wave of embarrassment.

What kind of karmic sin had she committed to tease this guy?

“Mainly, I felt she was really gentle. As soon as she sat down, she softly asked, ‘Is this seat taken?’ And of course, I had to reply like a gentleman, ‘Of course not.’”

He Xiaohan frowned slightly, but still listened with interest.

Xu Yecheng suddenly didn’t really want to listen anymore.

Why did Zheng Wenxuan sound so creepy when recounting it?

“She even said my name sounded nice—she asked me first!” Zheng Wenxuan said, clearly showing off.

“Very nice,” He Xiaohan laughed. “Seems like Xuan has quite the luck with women.”

Xu Yecheng frowned. Seeing the smile on his face, a strange feeling flashed through her heart.

With these two going back and forth, she felt more and more awkward listening to them.

“Don’t make fun of me,” Zheng Wenxuan said, half amused and half exasperated.

“I’m telling the truth,” He Xiaohan continued. “Xuan, have you considered taking it further?”

“He Lao! What kind of talk is that?” Zheng Wenxuan protested. “Some girls are meant to be admired from afar but not approached—a white moonlight, you know? If you confess or something, it just makes things awkward.”

“So Xuan plans to be Xu Wanning’s guard dog?”

Zheng Wenxuan froze completely.

“Can you not describe me in such a creepy way?”

“But it’s very accurate,” Liu Xianlin suddenly spoke up from behind Xu Yecheng.

Xu Yecheng couldn’t help laughing, even though she still felt a sense of embarrassment.

“Wait—how do you know her name?” Zheng Wenxuan asked, confused.

“Met her once. Chatted a bit,” He Xiaohan replied calmly.

“Oh, I see,” Zheng Wenxuan said, then continued.

“Then the girl just laid her head on the desk and fell asleep. Before that, she even said to me, ‘If the teacher comes over, wake me up.’”

Xu Yecheng was full of question marks.

Why did this sound stranger the more she listened?
