Chapter 60 Chapter 60: Xiao Cheng Embarrasses Himself Online (3)
He Xiaohan let out a mocking laugh. “Why don’t you give me a measuring tape while you’re at it?”
The man beside him looked a little confused. “A measuring tape?”
“So I can go around measuring everyone for you, chest by chest,” He Xiaohan added when he saw the man still didn’t get it.
“Ah, no need to be that serious,” the man waved it off. “Just find someone. Once it’s done, I’ll pay.” As he spoke, he released the arm that had been draped over He Xiaohan’s shoulder. “Mainly, there aren’t many high-quality girls at our school. Looking at them is just boring.” He sighed helplessly after saying that.
He Xiaohan gave him a slightly disdainful look. “Then go look off campus.”
The man’s expression immediately turned a bit disgusted.
“The ones outside are too flashy. They don’t have that pure, innocent vibe.”
Hearing that, He Xiaohan laughed again.
……
Xu Yecheng finally got a chance to sit down and rest properly.
She wiped the sweat from her face, then walked over and sat at the front desk. The receptionist handed her a cup of water. Xu Yecheng took it and silently reminded herself to move elegantly.
Watching Xu Yecheng sip the water in small mouthfuls until she finished it, the receptionist suddenly felt a little unaccustomed.
“Wanning, Wanning,” the receptionist called her name.
Xu Yecheng held a mouthful of water, then slowly swallowed it, her round eyes fixed on her.
“What is it?” Xu Yecheng asked softly.
“Are you and He Xiaohan together now?” another receptionist with a slightly deeper voice asked.
“Huh?” Xu Yecheng froze, wearing a puzzled expression.
“What’s going on? What are you talking about?” Doudou’s voice suddenly came from behind. Xu Yecheng turned her head and saw Doudou walking over, shaking the water off her hands.
The two receptionists grinned.
“We’re eating gossip.”
Doudou’s face immediately lit up.
“What gossip? I want to eat it too,” Doudou said, instantly intrigued.
Xu Yecheng was a little speechless.
“We saw a post on the school forum of Wanning sitting on the back seat of He Xiaohan’s bike, so we were asking if there’s something going on between them,” the first receptionist said cheerfully.
“Oh, they’re just friends for now,” Doudou replied. “But Ningning is working hard.”
“Really?” the deeper-voiced receptionist exclaimed. “Then Ningning, good luck—may all lovers finally become a couple.”
“Yes, good luck!” the other receptionist added sincerely.
Xu Yecheng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Inside, she felt utterly disgusted.
A joke? Him—a grown man—being held in He Xiaohan’s arms…
Xu Yecheng’s stomach churned violently.
So disgusting.
Just thinking about it gave her goosebumps all over.
But to avoid giving herself away, Xu Yecheng could only force a slightly stiff smile and politely say, “Thank you for your blessings.”
Seeing that smile, Doudou secretly let out a sigh of relief.
Ningning probably wouldn’t feel too bad anymore… and she didn’t seem to have given up either.
That’s what Doudou thought.
But why hadn’t He Xiaohan shown up this afternoon?
Doudou immediately looked troubled.
“Strange,” the shop owner walked out from inside at that moment. “Have you seen Yunyun?”
Xu Yecheng frowned. “Yunyun?”
Doudou nodded. “It’s playing upstairs.”
“Oh, I see.” The owner’s gaze fell on Xu Yecheng again. “That’s my cat.”
Xu Yecheng was startled.
“Oh right, I haven’t properly gotten my fill of it yet,” she said, draining the rest of the water in her cup in one gulp before darting upstairs.
Watching Xu Yecheng’s figure disappear around the corner, the shop owner smiled.
“Wanning seems to really like cats.”
Doudou nodded. “Yeah, she’s a total cat lover, haha.”
When Xu Yecheng reached the second floor, she saw Yunyun lying on a table by the window, basking in the sunlight.
Cats were always in the best mood while sunbathing—and that also made them easiest to approach.
Xu Yecheng jogged over. Yunyun lazily opened one eye to glance at her, then closed it again, looking completely content.
Xu Yecheng carefully reached out her hand. But the moment she touched Yunyun’s head, the cat immediately shrank its neck back, opened its eyes, and stared at her warily.
Xu Yecheng blinked in confusion.
What did that mean—she couldn’t pet it?
Her expression turned awkward. She tentatively reached out again to try and pat its head, but Yunyun climbed off the table and darted under it.
Xu Yecheng gritted her teeth.
Damn it, just a little cat and you’re this tsundere—spoiled much!
Thinking that, she decided she should first let it get used to her scent…
When He Xiaohan came up the stairs, he saw a small figure crouched at his favorite seat, with a little cat curled up in the corner under the table.
He frowned slightly, then a hint of amusement appeared on his face as he slowly walked toward her.
“Yunyun…”
He heard her call softly.
Sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. He Xiaohan looked at her back—the light was partially blocked by the table’s shadow, scattering across the strands of hair hanging down her back and refracting into a dazzling glow.
He Xiaohan stopped walking, his mind naturally sketching out her appearance.
Hearing movement, she turned her head to look at him. His gaze fell on her lips, then met her eyes—clear and deep, like unrisen morning dew, carrying a faint translucence.
He saw her stiffen, then stand up in a panic. The next second, there was a dull “thump” as Xu Wanning’s head hit the corner of the table hard.
“Fuck!” Xu Yecheng yelped, clutching her head with both hands, her face contorting in pain.
Seeing her face scrunched up like a crumpled draft paper, He Xiaohan’s lips curved upward, a smile appearing between his brows.
She rubbed the top of her head, her smooth long hair now sticking out messily.
Xu Yecheng sucked in a sharp breath of pain. Hearing He Xiaohan chuckle softly, she looked up—only to see him wearing a look of concern.
“Are you okay?” He Xiaohan asked gently. “Miss Wanning?”
At that moment, Xu Yecheng felt ten thousand alpacas gallop through her heart.
Holy crap—what is this, some idol drama scene?
Another wave of pain shot through her head. With a stiff expression, Xu Yecheng replied, “I’m fine.”
Damn it—he saw that stupid moment again.
Thinking that, her face uncontrollably flushed.
He Xiaohan’s gaze lingered on her rosy cheeks, and a strange thought crossed his mind.
It seemed like he hadn’t been this happy in a long time…
