Chapter 103: The End of the Earth

"Today's expenses are on Young Master Kevin! Let's hear some screams!"

Closure brought out one of Rhodes Island's most (treasured) (unsellable) audio systems.

"Ohhhhhh!"

It was another crazy night. FrostNova, being a "country bumpkin," couldn't escape either. She was pulled onto the dance floor by W and joined the Operators' revelry.

——————

Lungmen Commercial District,

"W, your foot... is it okay?"

Looking at W hobbling along, FrostNova couldn't help but feel a bit worried. It was all her fault for not refusing more firmly last night.

There was no helping it. She had grown up in that mine since childhood. Even after being rescued, she spent a long time wandering the snowy plains with the guerrilla force. When would she have had time to learn such social etiquette?

What was even more frustrating was that W herself was also a half-baked teacher, at best managing not to step on others' feet.

Originally, with FrostNova's control over her body, mastering a dance in a short time wouldn't have been a problem at all. But the trouble was, W herself didn't know how to dance and couldn't bring herself to admit it.

One bravely tried to teach, the other actually dared to follow and learn!

By the later stages, even W's own teaching became incoherent. FrostNova, this honest child, was still diligently learning, occasionally asking questions that W would gloss over with a bunch of nonsense.

By the end of it, her feet were stepped on until they swelled up. She stubbornly didn't utter a sound, crawled to the medical room by herself, got some bruise liniment from Warfarin, and still wasn't fully recovered today.

FrostNova thought it was because of her innate talent that she was simply unsuited for learning dance, so naturally, she felt apologetic and guilty towards W.

But in reality, by the later stages, W could no longer bring herself to say the words "I don't know how to dance at all." Regarding the series of actions and words she used to fool FrostNova, she felt an inexplicable sense of guilt.

As a result, both harbored their own various thoughts, ultimately reaching a strange balance where neither noticed anything unusual about the other.

"I'm really sorry."

"Hey, it's fine. Next time! Next time I'll definitely teach you to finish that song."

W vigorously patted her chest, but the faint pain coming from her feet seemed to remind her of everything that happened last night.

"Maybe it's better not to."

FrostNova quickly waved her hands; she really wasn't suited for such elegant activities.

"These two kids are really interesting."

But onlookers see clearly. The mutual emotional tug-of-war between the two made Fiammetta, standing to the side, chuckle softly.

She saw through it very clearly. However, it was quite surprising that the two could get along so harmoniously.

"What's up?"

Kevin glanced sideways. Although Pozëmka was usually cheerful too, it wasn't common for her to laugh so happily.

"Hmm~ Just remembered something happy."

"You still don't know how to lie."

He didn't possess particularly strong curiosity and had no intention of getting to the bottom of things.

"Kevin, aren't you even a little bit curious about what I'm thinking?"

"Not curious?"

"Really—not even a tiny bit~?"

She drew out her tone, smiling radiantly.

"Sigh... (Never mind) I'm curious."

Even though Kevin exuded an air of "forced participation," Pozëmka didn't mind at all.

"Well then, I'll reluctantly share it with you~"

She held Kevin's hand, walking with light steps. Her relaxed and cheerful aura seemed to affect Kevin too. At least during those ten years in Gou Wu, she had always done this.

Listening silently to her talk, occasionally punctuated by silvery bell-like laughter, Kevin's face would occasionally show an almost imperceptible curve.

Someone wanting to change you—this feeling isn't bad, is it?

"Huh? Why does it smell a bit sour?"

"W, over here, over here! Sour plum soup!"

The two "country kids" gathered in front of a small stall, their eyes shining.

"Boss Kevin, I want to eat this!"

"Teacher, I want some too."

——————

After wandering around inside the Dagu Mall,

W was already carrying large and small bags because she knew her boss wasn't short on money at all. Even if he bought the entire mall—no, the entire square—it wouldn't matter.

She still hadn't used up that box of gold bars Boss Kevin left back then.

Yelena was more reserved, only picking out some small gifts for her father and teammates.

Out in the wilderness and snowy plains, there weren't so many delicious things.

"Thank you for your patronage. Please come again."

The server was all smiles, not caring about W's Sarkaz identity or whether she was Infected or not. In Lungmen, if you have money, you're the boss!

"What a shame."

"What's a shame?"

FrostNova was wearing new clothes; the fabric was very comfortable. Although new clothes generally should be washed first, no matter what, they were at least much cleaner than the clothes she rolled around in the wilderness snow.

A black shirt, white jacket, short skirt, long socks, and quite lively sports boots gave her a rather youthful feel. This was personally coordinated for her by Fiammetta.

After all, she wasn't like W; she didn't need to hide her Originium crystals, so of course she could dress as beautifully as she wanted.

FrostNova looked at W strangely.

"Oh, I saw those books in Sister Fiammetta's room. The plots always have those snobbish people looking down on others, then I take out money and slap their faces. What's this? So it's all made up."

W pouted somewhat dissatisfiedly. She had been looking forward to it for so long, but none of the prepared lines she had ready were used.

The service attitude was so good; if she made a scene now, she'd just be picking a fight.

"Your collection..."

Facing Kevin's puzzled gaze, Pozëmka quickly waved her hands to explain:

"Actually, it was just because I was troubled about sales before, so I wanted to learn from the strengths of these best-selling books."

Who knew why W dug them out?

She remembered putting them at the very bottom.

The four of them wandered until Sunset Boulevard. Mainly the two "kids" running ahead were full of energy. As for the two behind?

Although Gou Wu's prosperity couldn't compare to Lungmen's, its development wasn't bad either. Having been companions for ten years, they had visited these malls many times and naturally weren't extremely enthusiastic about them anymore.

"Let's take a break first."

Pozëmka suggested with a smile. If possible, she hoped to prolong their sense of novelty as much as possible.

"Okay, then where? Around here—"

She didn't see any drink shops either?

W used her hands like binoculars, looking around. The area actually had more shops and collection points selling various clothes and forwarding services.

"There."

FrostNova had good eyesight. Not far straight ahead, there happened to be a bar.

"Then let's go there."

Would something happen in a bar? Come on, their group weren't exactly model citizens.

Well, Fiammetta might count as one, but that didn't affect things.

Everyone walked another stretch of road when they saw the bar with its uniquely decorated signboard clearly displaying five characters:

—"The End of the Earth."
