Chapter 52 Chapter 52: Yan?
Chapter 52: Yan?
Another period of time passed, and the Military Commission had not made any major moves for a long time.
Even though they hadn't taken action, after Kevin appeared more frequently, their forces seemed to have become a stagnant pool of water, merely strengthening their defenses while contracting.
Babel was also content with this situation. Both sides tacitly maintained a state of non-interference, quietly recuperating and waiting for an opportunity.
This left some keen observers of the war situation dumbfounded.
"Ah, Boss, you know the current situation in Kazdel. Information from Yan is quite tightly controlled, so for now, I only have some route maps from Kazdel to Yan."
Closure pulled out several route maps from a box. Kazdel happened to share a portion of its border with Yan, so some smugglers still had such route maps.
And most of them were relatively reliable. Their hearts might be a bit black, but the goods were generally genuine.
Otherwise, the mercenaries in Kazdel wouldn't put up with you.
"Oh right, there's also a copy of 'Selected Yan Travel Geography Guide.' Do you want it?"
Closure slapped her forehead; she almost forgot about the travel book. It should be useful as a reference too, right?
"Sure."
Kevin nodded, put down the newspaper, and silently examined those route maps.
Unlike the dilapidated and impoverished Kazdel, prosperous Yan had many Nomadic Cities. Therefore, the so-called "route maps" were drawn differently from traditional ordinary maps. They detailed the docking points and times of some Nomadic Cities whose routes would approach Kazdel.
"Boss Kevin, are you planning to leave Kazdel?"
Closure asked, pretending it was just a casual question.
"Sooner or later, that day will come."
He did not deny it.
"Forget it, forget it, let's not talk about this topic."
Closure vigorously rubbed her face, slapping it to try and wake herself up.
"Hmm, the stuff is good. Next time you have information, you can send someone to find me."
Kevin picked up those books and route maps and nodded calmly at Closure.
"Ah, of course! Who in all of Babel doesn't know that I, Closure, am reliable?"
"Boss, remember to visit again next time."
Closure beamed with a smile, rubbing her hands together.
No choice; these days, even a Vampire needs money to survive. Blood packs, restocking goods, transportation—how could the meager salary from the Logistics Department be enough?
Even the crumbs that fell from Kevin's hands filled her up to the brim. No wonder she had such an attitude.

"W didn't come looking for you today?"
"She probably has a mission. She drove off in your car a few days ago."
Although Kevin hadn't given her the car for other reasons, he allowed her to use it freely. Fiammetta still remembered the excited smile on W's face back then, like a child who had gotten a beloved toy.
She called "Boss" with such fervor. When asked about it, she would say:
"Others want to call him that but don't even have the chance."
"I see."
Kevin put down the books in his arms. Fiammetta glanced at them briefly.
"Kevin, are we going to Yan after this?"
She picked up the 'Selected Yan Travel Geography Guide.' Her well-groomed fluffy tail wagged lightly as she tilted her head and asked.
"If the plan hasn't changed, yes."
Yan, Shenzhou... Just hearing the name, Kevin could roughly guess the customs and culture of this country.
In his memories, Hua was usually quite happy to share the scenery of her hometown.
"If you want to stay a bit longer, we can set off later."
Kevin actually didn't care much about gains or losses in time. He was very willing to give more choices to people he acknowledged.
Because the time he had left was far too much. So much that if he didn't squander some of it, didn't waste some of it, it all seemed so long...
"No need~. Although life here is very stable and everyone's attitude is friendly, your own opinion is what matters most. I'll follow behind you. Of course, you mustn't abandon me! I'll cry for you to see!"
Fiammetta put on a fierce-yet-cute expression, revealing her little Lupo canine teeth slightly.
"Hmm, I won't."
"Oh right, the Doctor had someone deliver this to you."
Fiammetta took out a terminal.

One day later,
"Yo, Hederra, Ines, long time no see?"
An annoying voice. Ines reflexively looked up.
Sure enough, the chattering American cockroach's face that made her blood pressure rise once again appeared before Ines.
"Long time no see. You're having a bit of a rough time, huh? Yo, look at you; you've lost weight."
"Hah, of course it can't compare to Lady W who's attached herself to Babel."
"Can't you two talk properly?"
Hederra held his forehead. Meeting and immediately bickering—these two really didn't hold back at all. Wasn't a reunion of teammates something worth celebrating?
Even if not celebrating, it shouldn't be like meeting an enemy family member.
"That won't do."
W sat on a tree branch; she had also unexpectedly discovered her former teammates.
"Alright, Hederra. I just came over to say hello. But it seems you're not very welcoming."
W glanced at the Sarkaz mercenary group not far away. Hederra was no longer that loner with only two team members.
But that was fine too; at least he wasn't pitifully alone anymore.
"You should know the survival rules for mercenaries..."
"Stop stop stop! I came to find you just to see your faces and check if you two are still alive. Don't lecture me with any big principles."
Before Hederra could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by an impatient W. She couldn't stand Hederra's mother-hen-like admonitions.
"I have things to do; I'll be off now."
After tossing out these few sentences, W left.
"Sigh... Ines, have someone check around the camp perimeter to see if any bombs have been planted."
Precautions couldn't be neglected... W wasn't someone who gave peace of mind.
Ines quite agreed with Hederra's view and immediately arranged for people to go check.
But their thoughts were destined for disappointment because W's reason for coming to find them was precisely to see how miserable her former teammates were living and to show off her own superiority by the way.
Yes, W's purpose was that simple.
If possible, she even wanted to drive that car over and show off for a few laps. But unfortunately, such things could only remain as thoughts.

"W, this bathroom break of yours..."
If possible, Scout also didn't want to get to the bottom of it. But this excuse was just too unrealistic.
This was a battlefield buffer zone; who goes to the bathroom for over half an hour?
"Tch, ran into some acquaintances and said hello."
W closed the car door.
"Alright then."
Scout chose to turn a blind eye. At least someone acknowledged by Kevin was still trustworthy.
