Chapter 42 Chapter 42: From Now On, You're My Boss!
Chapter 42: From Now On, You're My Boss!
"I thought you were enjoying yourself."
Under the dancer's slightly horrified gaze, a man in a trench coat emerged from behind a tree.
Her perception hadn't given her even a hint of warning.
"Hahaha, Kevin, stop joking around."
W never realized before that Kevin had this talent for telling cold jokes.
An unprecedented sense of crisis rose in the dancer's heart. The shadows around her surged like a tide, and the fierce aura surrounding her was no longer hidden at all.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Shadow-forged monsters charged at Kevin from all directions, their withered bodies and black-red claws reflecting dazzling cold light under the moonlight.
Crack————
In an instant, the shadow monsters seemed frozen in time, their movements solidified, some even maintaining their leaping postures. 6⑨4⑨3⑥1③5
The scattered chill made many Sarkaz shiver. Death-like black ice crystals reflected their terrified faces.
Ssss!
No blood flowed out because it had already been frozen by the extreme cold before it could spray.
Sharp black ice crystals replaced the trees and soil in the forest, turning the entire area into a cold, lifeless domain devoid of life.
Under the life-and-death crisis, the dancer finally lost the luxury of maintaining her frail posture.
Her beautiful, cold face suddenly split into three petals. The crimson, torn flesh and blue blood vessels still pulsating even when exposed to air looked horrifying and terrifying.
But this was indeed the truest form of a pure-blood Vampire. As one of the Ten Royal Courts and one of the most notorious races on this land, their terrifying reputation spread far and wide not just because of stories passed down by word of mouth.
Many seemingly fabricated tales were actually based largely on real events—meaning the authors had personally experienced them...
"Little thing has quite a unique look, huh? The contrast is kinda cute?"
Even W frowned. It wasn't that it was particularly scary, but this thing was just too disgusting.
The cold dancer and the bloody monster—the transition was so abrupt that it was sometimes hard to accept. But Kevin wasn't included in that.
"Die!"
Monsters composed of viscous blood opened their dark maws. Extending tentacles wrapped around the ice blocks freezing the Sarkaz, then suddenly exerted force.
Surprisingly, those pitch-black ice blocks didn't budge an inch, showing no signs of cracking. This dashed the blood demon creations' hopes of devouring the corpses and blood.
"No need to waste your effort. Surrender or destruction, choose."
Under W's puzzled gaze, two firearms appeared in Kevin's hands. Blazing orange-red liquid flowed slowly within the barrels as if alive. The black-and-white gun bodies fit Kevin's palm size perfectly.
However, the caliber looked even smaller than the Guardian Gun she had stolen. With such a small gun, even if it was some kind of black tech, it couldn't possibly have much power, right?
"Kevin, if you really want to use a Guardian Gun, why not use...?"
W spoke jokingly. Although hers wasn't as powerful as the one in the car, its firepower was at least passable.
The Vampire on the other side didn't think so. When that blazing firearm was aimed at her, a pressure more terrifying than when she faced the Lord of the Royal Court suddenly descended.
Surrender?! Impossible!
The Vampire still remembered why she fled the Royal Court!
No one could make her submit again! No one!
The blood creation roared, slowly moving its massive body. Thick bloodiness and stench flooded her nostrils. She made her final struggle!
Blood rain dripped down, forming small pools of blood in the depressions on the ground. A demon-god-like figure pressed down!
Without needing to aim at all, Kevin pulled the trigger.
The gloved fingertip seemed to ring the death knell of destined demise. The scorching heavenly fire sought to drag everything it burned into hell!
Scorching! Blazing!
The oncoming heat wave lifted the bangs on W's forehead. The swirling flames reddened her face.
At the same time, it swept away all thoughts in her mind.
A star's extinction! All bloodiness and filth, all unclean and ominous things were "cleansed" spotlessly before that heavenly fire resembling a blazing sun. ⑥⑨④⑨③⑥①④⑤
Like the purifying heavenly fire descended by a deity, in Kevin's hands, it lived up to the name "Judgement of Shamash."
A pitch-black path extended all the way to the horizon. A few remaining embers flickered with weak red light in the crater, as if warning every traveler who witnessed this scene.
Do not attempt to 【Transgress】!
"Gulp————"
What on earth was I just saying?
W fell into awkward contemplation. The Guardian Gun in her hand couldn't be withdrawn or handed over.
Maybe there was some way to remedy this?
"What did you just say?"
Kevin asked somewhat puzzledly as the Judgement of Shamash slowly dissipated in his hand.
"Uh... Ke... cough, I mean, Boss! How about I call you Boss Kevin from now on?"
W coughed dryly twice, hid her Guardian Gun behind her back, and laughed with a negotiating tone.
Wasn't this much better than Heder and Ines? Those two combined might not even be able to scratch that pure-blood Vampire.
Let alone casually sending that monster off like Kevin did with a sky lantern. So calling him "Boss" wasn't a loss at all!
After weighing it, W found this deal wasn't a loss for her at all.
"As you wish."
Hearing "Boss Kevin," he was slightly taken aback, then nodded.
"However, I'm afraid we can't stay here overnight."
An entire direction of forest had vanished completely. The commotion was too big; it would be hard not to attract others' attention.
To avoid future trouble, relocating was necessary.
"Ah, no big deal. But what about this money?"
W kicked the boxes behind her with her foot and made a gesture seeking advice. Fortunately, they hadn't been affected by that shot.
"I don't need it. If you like it, take it with you."
"Heheh, I was just waiting for you to say that, Boss Kevin."
W stacked up the heavy boxes and chuckled as she hoisted them onto her shoulder.
Following Kevin meant getting meat to eat. At this moment, W finally understood the feeling of clinging to a powerful ally—it was simply too indulgent!
Where else could you find a boss who did the heavy lifting but didn't want the spoils?
Neither of them cared anymore about whether that pure-blood Vampire lived or died. Rather, if she could survive that shot, she'd deserve to sit in the Vampire Lord's seat.
The two left. However, with W carrying the spoils on her back and wearing a lecherous grin, they looked exactly like a gang of bandits who had succeeded.
......
When the two returned to the car, W eagerly opened her spoils. She was about to rummage through these boxes filled to the brim with silver coins when her hand suddenly touched something hard and solid as she reached down.
The smile on W's face froze.
"Sarkaz profanity Only one layer?!"
Disbelievingly, she opened several boxes in succession. The final result confirmed it: these silver coins were only a shallow layer on the surface; all other weight was provided by stones.
The soreness in her shoulders and back seemed to mock her for doing useless work.
"Damn it, I'm going back to whip their corpses. Boss Kevin, don't stop me."
"...What? No corpses? Then I'll go scatter their ashes!"
