Chapter 110: Retribution Will Come

Outer Ring of Lungmen,

The night breeze was gentle. W had one hand on the steering wheel, sitting in front as the driver.

"Boss, Sister Fiammetta, are you really not planning to stay a couple more days?"

Stepping on the accelerator somewhat absentmindedly, she asked rather wistfully. Despite her young age, the American cockroach already had her own troubles.

"No, we have to leave eventually."

"If W is reluctant to part, you can come back to Gouwu with us. Our courtyard there is quite spacious, and we have room for you."

Fiammetta leaned her little head on Kevin's shoulder and chuckled as she made the suggestion to W.

If she weren't living with Kevin, such a large courtyard would indeed feel empty and lonely. But with him there, it didn't matter.

"I... still have things I need to do, truths I haven't uncovered yet. If everything goes smoothly, I will definitely come find you!"

W patted the steering wheel, a clear flicker of temptation appearing on her face. But after thinking about certain matters, a look of determination crossed her features.

"When that time comes, Sister Fiammetta and Boss, you must take me in."

W pretended to look pitiful.

"No problem. Go do what you need to do, W. I'll wait for you. But as for Kevin..."

"Hehe, Boss?"

"If she says it's okay, then it's okay."

Kevin had no objections. He didn't mind his residence being livelier, as long as she liked it.

"Alright, then I have a retirement plan settled."

W hummed a little tune. For a mercenary, retiring alive was truly a luxurious wish. But at least there was something to hope for, right?

Feeling the push from the seatback behind her, Fiammetta couldn't help but remind W:

"Even though this is the city outskirts, driving this fast isn't really good, is it?"

Hearing this, W waved her hand dismissively with the air of an old hand, telling Fiammetta not to worry.

"Pfft, it's the middle of the night in the city outskirts. There aren't any pedestrians anyway. Lungmen's personnel are pretty busy lately. With the L.G.D.'s manpower, they can barely manage things within the city itself. How could it be so coincidental that we'd run into..."

Beep— Beep—

Just as W was saying this, a sharp honking sound suddenly came from behind the car.

Along with a voice amplified through a loudspeaker, somewhat distorted:

"Vehicle ahead! You are speeding! Violating Article 39 of the 'Lungmen Traffic Regulations Ordinance'! Please pull over immediately! Please pull over immediately!"

Ch'en was in a very bad mood. Not only had she failed to bring Talulah back from Rhodes Island, but she also ran into this mess on the way back?!

What about the city outskirts? The roads in the city outskirts have speed limits too!

No lawbreaker can be tolerated!

"Oh ho? Not only not stopping, but actually accelerating?!"

Seeing the other vehicle's taillights getting farther and farther away from her own car, her eyes narrowed into a dangerous arc.

This was no ordinary lawbreaker anymore. A heavy fist must be used!

And so, a performance of speed and passion unfolded on this city outskirts road.

Lungmen Guard Department (L.G.D.),

"Here, have some water."

"Thank you." x2

On the waiting chairs outside, Kevin and Fiammetta sat side by side, very quiet, almost too well-behaved.

A very tall woman with a single horn on her head brought them two cups of water, a bright smile on her face:

"Ah, no need to be so polite. Don't worry too much either. Old Ch'en, she just looks fierce on the surface. Your companion looks unfamiliar; it's probably her first time."

"At most, it'll just be a verbal warning. She'll say a few words and then be out. I heard you were the ones who voluntarily pulled over? Good legal awareness. Keep it up. Don't let your companion make mistakes again."

Hoshiguma comforted them, trying to ease the pressure on these two people. Generally speaking, civilians visiting the L.G.D. for the first time always feel uncomfortable inside.

As long as they haven't made mistakes, she didn't want their first memory of the L.G.D. to be so unfriendly.

"Huff."

Ch'en Huichieh pushed the door open and walked out, taking off her hat and fanning herself with it, hoping this method could dissipate some of the fire in her heart.

"How did it go, Old Ch'en?"

"It's done. Fortunately, it was in the city outskirts and didn't cause any injuries. A 500 LMD fine. Don't let it happen again."

Ch'en Huichieh said grumpily. However, she didn't vent her earlier bad mood on this matter and gave a standard, appropriate punishment—one that could even be considered quite light.

She was just straightforward by nature, not the kind of fool who couldn't separate public and private matters.

Speaking of which, if that incredibly cool big car hadn't pulled over to the side of the road after running for a while, her own little beat-up car she drove to Rhodes Island might not have been able to catch up.

"Alrighty then, Officer Ch'en. There won't be a next time, Officer Ch'en."

W walked out of the interrogation room with a smile on her face. Clearly, Ch'en's earnest lecture had little effect on someone with skin as thick as hers.

It was undoubtedly like a spring breeze brushing her face—lacking a bit of punch.

"As for the money, here you go."

Fiammetta took out some LMD from the small bag in her hand and handed it to Hoshiguma.

"Alright, I'll go get the receipt."

Hoshiguma took the money and went to cancel the fine ticket.

"Huff... You..."

Ch'en ignored W and shifted her gaze to Kevin, her mouth twitching slightly.

To think she didn't run into him at the Administrative Building banquet but ended up meeting him at the L.G.D. today instead. What was this called?

Unintentional actions yielding unexpected results?

"I heard you participated in the operation to stop Chernobog? On behalf of the L.G.D., thank you."

One thing at a time. What he did regarding this matter was commendable! She, Ch'en Huichieh, respected that.

Also... what Talulah said about that white-haired man who fished her out... Could it be him?

"No need for that. Our original goal wasn't for Chernobog's sake."

"Judge by actions, not intentions. When you first entered Lungmen, my attitude wasn't good. I apologize."

As she said this, Ch'en Huichieh actually gave a slight bow.

What? Connections? What "connections" are you talking about?

If there were such "connections" that saved trouble and effort, she'd wish for more of them.

"No need. It was my duty."

Kevin didn't mind that little bit of offense.

Didn't expect him to be so reasonable. Ch'en was somewhat surprised.

【Event — Rumors from the Doctor's Room】

"Sigh... Day three of missing Kevin."

"Come on, can you miss him more than the Doctor does?"

"Oh? What about the Doctor? Spill the details."

(Looking around)

(Whispering)

"Then you absolutely must not tell anyone else."

"Hurry up! I promise!"

"I passed by the Doctor's room back then, and her door happened to be open too. I still remember what the Doctor looked like at that time."

"What about the Doctor?"

"She had no expression on her face, silent, but kept pacing back and forth in her room, running around, rolling on the floor... mumbling 'it's okay it's okay' over and over again... but big teardrops kept falling down..."

"Whoa... That intense?"

"Hey! Keep your voice down! If the Doctor hears you, you're done for!"

"Oh? What happens if I hear?"

A voice like a ghost's sounded behind the two Operators. The hand placed on their shoulders made their bodies stiffen.

"Ahaha... Doctor... Let us explain..."

"Help—!!!"
