Chapter 83 Chapter 83: Talulah (Black Snake)
Chapter 83: Talulah (Black Snake)
Hiss—
The sarcophagus opened, white air currents spraying out from the vent holes, bringing a hint of coolness to the surrounding people.
Accompanied by the sound of mechanical gears turning, the coffin door slowly slid open, revealing a white-haired woman dressed in clothing similar to a hospital gown.
Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her flat chest also began to rise and fall.
"Cough... cough..."
"Doctor, you're awake?!"
Just as her pale hand was about to rest on the edge of the coffin wall, it was first grasped by the Amiya girl. The warmth transmitted from her palm made her feel that sensation called "being alive" once again.
"You... who are you?"
"I... who am I?"
Having not spoken for a long time, her voice was somewhat hoarse, but two consecutive questions caused everyone's expressions to change slightly.
"The Doctor... has she lost her memory?"
Such an astonishing speculation arose in their hearts.
"Let's evacuate first."
Ace's personality was steady enough. Amiya nodded, draping the prepared clothes over the Doctor. The dark blue Rhodes Island uniform fit perfectly. The moment the hood was put on,
some veteran operators who had experienced the Babel period couldn't help but feel a bit dazed, as if the Doctor who strategized and commanded was back.
But through that translucent mask, the gaze filled with exhaustion, weakness, and confusion extinguished that flame that had just ignited.

Thud!
"I've said many times, don't do this kind of thing in front of me."
FrostNova kicked away a Reunion Movement member as if he were a bag of garbage, her eyes nearly indifferent.
He tumbled several times on the ground, only stopping when he hit a wall.
The throbbing pain from his back challenged his nerves. He gritted his teeth, resentment in his heart. But with the mask covering his face, no one could see what expression he truly wore.
They're just a few Ursus commoners, right? When they were exterminating us Infected, their methods were far more cruel than what I'm doing now.
But he didn't dare question it because this woman would truly draw her blade and cut him down. With the support of several companions, they hurriedly left this area where the guerrilla force was stationed.
"Get up, you're safe now."
In response to FrostNova's outstretched hand, the Ursus girl fearfully buried her small head in her mother's embrace.
The adult woman's face was full of vigilance, holding the little girl protectively in her arms. She still bore the bruises from being beaten. Even though FrostNova had helped her out of trouble, she didn't feel grateful.
In her view, FrostNova and those thugs were essentially no different. What good could come from Infected?
Would you feel gratitude because one group of thugs who broke into your home saved you from another group of thugs?
"At least you should go to the temporary shelter. It's less chaotic there. You don't want her to encounter danger, do you?"
FrostNova sensed the other party's attitude and sighed imperceptibly. She could only persuade in another way.
At least in places under the Shieldguards' jurisdiction, there was still some semblance of order.
The woman looked at the members of the Snowsquad and glanced at the tall, upright Shieldguards not far away. She could only shrink back slightly, pick up her child, and walk towards the direction of the temporary shelter.
"Our decision to come here was indeed a mistake."
This wasn't the first time FrostNova had questioned Talulah's way of doing things, but she lacked a better method for change. At least before proposing an alternative plan, she should still give the "Amiya" some necessary respect.
An ice blade chopped a piece of gravel into pieces, as if cutting away all her irritation. She wasn't an indecisive person. At worst, when things truly reached an irreparable point, she would personally knock Talulah unconscious and carry her back.
"By the way, where is Talulah?"
"Don't know, Big Sis. Haven't seen the 'Amiya' from the start."
"Where on earth did she go?"
——————
Azesdahle Clinic,
"Everyone, rest for ten more minutes!"
"Alright, Amiya, treatment is complete."
"We'll be safely evacuated soon. Everyone, stay alert."
Amiya forced out a slight smile. If even she, as the captain, didn't stay positive, there would be no way to bring everyone back safely.
The smoke clouds in the sky grew thicker, the sky darkened; it was almost night.
A group of several dozen people quickly passed through street after street, avoiding Reunion Movement's surveillance. They were getting closer and closer to the outskirts of Chernobog.
"?!"
The PRTS in her palm issued an alarm; dangerous, glaring red light flashed.
"Warning! Heat source detected."
"Hurry, run to the square. Now, immediately."
The Doctor raised her head, gaze fixed on a building behind them, and spoke.
"?"
Just as everyone was shocked and puzzled, a point of red light expanded and enlarged from the center point of that building. The air currents began to turn scorching hot!
"Get out of the way!"
A blazing, thick pillar of fire swept past their side! Its remaining force unabatedly ignited an entire building!
Several more pillars of fire followed, as if without any consumption of energy, turning the entire square into a sea of fire.
"You've got to be kidding me. Magic of this level?"
Dobermann's pupils constricted.
Nearl raised her shield to smash an incoming rock fragment while blocking some residual shockwaves.
"Hurry! Retreat quickly!"
A Draco woman dressed in an elegant black and white gown slowly walked out from the ashes of that building. The orange-red flames illuminated her cheeks crimson.
She raised her arm high once more; a scorching fireball gathered again.
Unlike others who were somewhat panicking and disorganized, the Doctor's gaze remained calm all along. Even when a residual shockwave passed by her hood, it didn't cause even the slightest change in her eyes.
Perhaps she didn't remember anymore, but it seemed she had seen more exaggerated scenes than this. After witnessing another world, naturally she wasn't interested in these "minor skirmishes."
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Fire meteors filled the sky indiscriminately covering the entire square; even Talulah's teammates were no exception.
She wasn't willing to waste her Arts on those ordinary members.
"Ahhh! Amiya!"
"Save us!"
"Rhodes Island?"
Her eyes held profound indifference deep within. It didn't matter; their lives' outcome had only one ending now.
That was to turn into ashes, forever remaining in this Chernobog.
A pitch-black barrier propped up a pure land under the meteors, teetering on the verge of collapse. Amiya herself was already covered in cold sweat on her forehead due to excessive exertion.
Finally, in less than two minutes, after enduring the fiercest rain of fire, the Amiya girl exhausted her strength and collapsed into Dobermann's arms.
Bang!
Ace blocked a fireball for the exhausted Amiya. The shield sizzled and was quickly melted halfway by the exaggerated temperature.
"Amiya,
take everyone and retreat!! Take the Doctor and go first. Leave this place to me; I'll figure something out!"
"You won't get away."
Another round of fire rain fell; buildings collapsed, blocking everyone's escape route, leaving only a small gap for them to crouch and pass through.
