Chapter 206: He Already Has a Family

"This point I mentioned also holds true in Aegir."

Kal'tsit's words undoubtedly erased the last trace of hope lingering in Gladiia's heart.

"We should still try."

Gladiia took a deep breath and glanced at the "Sleeping Beauty" on the bed. Fainting suddenly during a meal had given Irene quite a fright.

Their Inquisition certainly hadn't poisoned her. With so many Inquisitors present, there was no need to resort to such underhanded methods.

On the pristine white bedsheet, Laurentina's snow-white hair was spread out, completely devoid of her previous appearance as a mad beauty.

Among the three Abyssal Hunters, not a single one had a normal physical condition.

A soft sound echoed as the door was pushed open.

It was the two who had just finished their discussion at the top of the church. With a problem arising at the Inquisition's central hub, Carmen naturally wouldn't turn a blind eye to such a matter.

"How is it?"

"Following Dr. Kal'tsit's instructions, we have prepared all the required medication for her."

Irene handled everything flawlessly. After all, a single misstep could affect the Inquisition's reputation.

"In half an hour, she will wake up naturally. But which one will awaken..."

Kal'tsit rested her chin on her medical record book. She didn't know either.

"Nun" or "Hunter"? Isn't that something worth anticipating?

"Ms. Kal'tsit, please come out for a moment."

Gladiia mysteriously called Kal'tsit outside.

......

"Your eyes lack the hunter's resolve, Gladiia."

Kal'tsit looked at her calmly.

"It seems this is a private matter..."

"Yes, few things can escape your notice, Ms. Kal'tsit."

Gladiia kept a straight face. She knew that the Feline before her possessed far more information than she could imagine.

"Ask away."

Kal'tsit didn't intend to refuse, especially since their upcoming journey might require the assistance of the Abyssal Hunters.

"Sir Kevin, what kind of gifts does he like?"

Though somewhat hesitant, Gladiia managed to ask this difficult question.

The old lynx was momentarily stunned. Her ears perked up, and her gaze gradually grew meaningful.

"He already has a family."

She even drew out the last few words to emphasize the point for Gladiia.

Based on her understanding of Kevin, he was quite devoted in matters of love and likely wouldn't accept an outsider...

Gladiia was also taken aback by Kal'tsit's words before realizing what she meant.

This usually aloof and elegant Archon tightened her grip on her halberd. Did she really look that desperate for a man?

But years of experience as an Archon forced her to squeeze out a strained smile.

"No, I'm seeking him out to ask for his help in cleansing this."

Once again, Gladiia revealed the scales on her fair, fragrant shoulder. Just a little bit of that light would suffice.

In fact, she had secretly tried using Irene's lantern before. Apart from making herself somewhat uncomfortable, it didn't even alleviate the mutation symptoms, let alone miraculously cleanse them like Kevin did.

"That's also simple. I'll say it again: he already has a family."

Hearing Kal'tsit speak in these cryptic riddles again gave Gladiia a headache.

"Dr. Kal'tsit, I already..."

Just as Gladiia didn't want to get entangled in meaningless riddles, a sudden flash of insight struck her mind.

The wisdom and intellect of an Aegir Archon were still present; at least she wasn't foolish.

"He doesn't need superfluous worldly items. But you can bring him a lady's dress. Remember to use Aegir design style, something special..."

Kal'tsit offered one final piece of advice while scribbling on her medical record book with her pen.

Rip—

The medical record paper was slapped onto the table. Kal'tsit waved her hand and then left.

Gladiia stepped forward and picked up the paper.

"177, 54..."

This string of numbers was clearly clothing measurements and some descriptions of temperament. A rare smile appeared on the Archon's face.

——————

Outside the medical room,

"Make clothes?"

Skadi looked at her Second Captain with suspicion in her eyes.

"That outfit of yours shouldn't need replacing yet, right?"

Tailoring a set of clothes, especially one meeting the Second Captain's requirements, would require considerable effort.

Compared to doing this, Skadi would rather go fight Sea Monsters.

Besides, Specter is still lying there unconscious. Isn't it a bit inappropriate to ask me to make clothes now?

"As for the requirements and measurements, they're already written down. I have a great need for them."

Gladiia handed the note to Skadi and then said with utmost seriousness, despite Skadi's bewildered expression:

"It concerns our fate. Success or failure depends on you."

The Second Captain's solemn manner of speaking left Skadi momentarily at a loss. She could only awkwardly unfold the note.

"Alright then, let me see. Don't I already know your measurements? Why bother giving me a note...?!"

"It's not for me."

Meeting Skadi's gaze, the Second Captain shook her head, denying her assumption.

"Hey, hey, hey, Swordfish! In the entire Abyssal Hunters team, there isn't a female hunter with these measurements, is there?"

Skadi's face darkened.

Temperament: quiet and gentle? Behavior: gentle yet possessing both sensibility and rationality?

Such descriptive terms simply couldn't apply to them Abyssal Hunters! Their styles were completely different.

"It's for a very important person."

"Tsk."

"Any difficulties? I'll find a way to solve them."

Gladiia understood that under the pressure from the sea, the hunters' steps couldn't afford to delay.

"Let's not even talk about fabric for now. Asking me to make clothes without even giving me a needle? Isn't that a bit rude?"

Skadi was so angry she almost laughed. Don't ask her what she lacks; look at what she has first! Could she magically conjure clothes out of thin air?

"Before sunset, I'll gather all the supplies you need."

Gladiia glanced at the sky; there was still enough time. After saying that, she quickly left the area where the medical room was located.

"Hey! Why so rushed? Who exactly are you making clothes for?"

Utterly confused, Skadi genuinely felt the urge to throw in the towel right then and there.

She was doing manual labor, and in the end, even the truth was being kept from her? What was the point of doing this lousy job?

The little orca stood there fuming, wishing she could pick up that greatsword and give Gladiia—who had already run far away—a "suicide by backstab." But after pondering for a while, she dejectedly returned to the medical room.

Not do the job? Of course she had to do it. She had to wait for Gladiia to deliver the materials first! So mysterious.

——————

"Who brought me here?! Don't come closer! You are... Dr. Kal'tsit?"

The newly awakened Specter was clearly feeling sensitive and agitated—a perfectly normal phenomenon.

"It seems we didn't have that kind of luck."

Kal'tsit lowered her eyelids.

Although the probability wasn't strictly fifty-fifty, drawing the "Nun" personality was truly not good news for what lay ahead.
