Chapter 167 Chapter 167: The Pincushion A'Yao
Chapter 167: The Pincushion A'Yao
"Nothing much to offer you, just plain water?"
Talulah hugged her precious thermos and poured a cup of water for each of them.
Inside the tent, steam curled upward as they sat facing each other.
"Where's Father?"
FrostNova sat obediently beside Kevin, taking small sips of the plain water.
After observing for a while, she asked with some confusion.
"Mr. Patriot went to 'collect' supplies. After all, we can't just come all this way for nothing."
She was no longer that naive girl. The Reunion Movement was so poor; why not take advantage of whatever they could?
"Don't worry, he should be back in about half a day?"
After saying this, Talulah remained expressionless, quietly waiting for their next words. Surely they didn't come back just to catch up?
She trusted FrostNova, but Kevin's purpose was questionable.
Wasn't this what he taught her? To view things from the perspective of related interests, not just simple good and evil.
If they came, they must have something in mind.
"FrostNova wanted to come back for a visit. I was just passing by, that's all."
Kevin saw through Talulah's thoughts at a glance. He wasn't particularly angry. Perhaps she still had shortcomings, but she had undoubtedly grown into a qualified Amiya.
How am I supposed to believe that?
"Since he's not here... help me give this to him. I still have some matters to attend to, so we'll catch up later."
Kevin took out an envelope-wrapped item, very thin, and handed it to FrostNova beside him.
Already knowing exactly what was inside, she nodded and took it, leaving only Talulah looking bewildered by this series of actions.
What kind of riddle are you two playing here?
"Since FrostNova and...? Huh, where is he?"
She rubbed her temples with a headache. In the blink of an eye, Kevin had vanished from his seat.
Only the cup on the table, still retaining some warmth, served as proof that he had been there.
Reed and Percival were even more shocked, as if they'd seen a ghost. What was with that man?
Not only was his strength ridiculously strong, but he also appeared and disappeared mysteriously. This wasn't Originium Arts invisibility camouflage; it was genuine "disappearance."
"Teacher has other things to do. What, if it's just me alone, am I not welcome?"
FrostNova blinked her eyes. As expected of teacher and student, both were so...
"How would I dare? If I turned you away at the door, wouldn't old Mr. Patriot turn against me? Anyway, welcome back."
Talulah pretended to casually make a hugging gesture, and FrostNova also pretended to dodge it with disdain.
Strictly speaking, FrostNova was still a member of the Reunion Movement. The contract she signed with Rhodes Island back then was only for cooperation.
But seeing that FrostNova had fully adapted to Rhodes Island, Talulah naturally wouldn't spoil the mood by bringing it up.
"By the way, you haven't met yet, right? This is FrostNova, Mr. Patriot's daughter. She joined the Reunion Movement a long time ago; you could say she's your... senior?"
"Reed."
"My name is Percival. Hello, beautiful lady."
Another pink-haired girl? She seems quite enthusiastic. FrostNova met her gaze and confirmed she was the type she couldn't handle.
"He's very strong. What a pity; I wanted to spar with him some more."
Being able to catch my sword with one hand—even Mr. Patriot couldn't do it so effortlessly.
Reed wasn't a battle maniac, but facing such an opponent, he couldn't help but feel a surge of fighting spirit.
"Teacher is naturally very strong. However, with your strength, it's not enough yet."
As the number four Kevin fanatic, FrostNova was exceptionally strict in this regard.
As for why number four? The top three were—
W, the Doctor, and Pozëmka.
These three held positions as solid as a rock, unshakable. Especially W in this regard, who had almost secured the throne and reached near-superstitious levels.
"Hmm, I think so too."
Unexpectedly, he nodded, agreeing with FrostNova's statement.
Oh? This young man is quite sensible. Didn't even argue back?
She glanced at Reed in surprise.
"But Teacher doesn't have time. I can spar with you later."
FrostNova patted the Frost Prison Ice Sky at her waist. The sapphire-like hilt was so exquisite it was hard not to suspect it was merely a decorative art piece.
Of course, such doubts usually only lasted until—before it was drawn.
"Alright."
If I can't beat the teacher, sparring with his student seems acceptable too?
————
Gou Wu,
"You were gone for three days this time. You call that 'might take a little longer'?"
Kevin and W walked quietly into the courtyard, but a pair of faintly glowing eyes swept over them, causing his steps to imperceptibly pause.
"Sigh, forget it. Luckily, this young lady covered for you. Ha~"
Xi stretched her slender waist, creating a stunning curve at her hips. She seemed to have just woken from a dream.
Her rain-painted face still carried a lingering haze.
"Thanks."
Kevin looked at her and thanked her.
When he left, he hadn't specified an exact time because he wasn't sure how long it would take.
In fact, according to his initial plan, simply giving the Fragment Tower and the Sarkaz army one slash each would resolve everything—the whole process wouldn't even take two minutes.
But to completely control Londinium's situation, the Doctor proposed a more stable plan.
"What's with the thanks? Making me a few dishes I like later is more practical than anything."
Xi waved her hand dismissively.
"Dishes you like?"
"You didn't forget?!"
In her dragon eyes, laziness gradually turned into suspicion. Her jade-white dragon tail couldn't help but wrap around her long legs.
"Actually, you eat every dish cleanly. As for favorites..."
A rare hint of helplessness appeared in Kevin's eyes. Clearly, he couldn't tell.
"You you you! I—am I really such a glutton as you say? Hmph! This young lady just ate a few extra bites of each dish. A'Yao, you can testify for me, right?"
Seeing A'Yao lying on the ground sleeping soundly, Xi seemed to have grasped a lifeline.
"Gah?"
The moment she was lifted by the dragon tail, A'Yao let out a confused cry.
W looked at this strange creature with full curiosity—she'd never seen anything like it before.
"See? Even A'Yao says so."
Did she forget that she could understand A'Yao's language?
Kevin looked at the smug Xi Gua. After some thought, he decided not to tear down her last shred of dignity.
Forget it; it's just a small, not-too-excessive request.
"Alright."
Seeing Kevin agree, Xi finally released her tail with satisfaction.
Splat!
A'Yao's soft body was almost flattened by the fall.
"Gah!"
"Alright A'Yao, you can go back to sleep now."
Hurting from the fall yet not daring to bare her teeth at her creator, A'Yao could only pitifully lie back down on the ground.
"And this is?"
Xi finally divided her limited attention toward W.
Brought a guest?
