Chapter 14 Chapter 14: Su Yao and the Rich Heir
While chatting with Red Leaf, another ding ding popped up. Su Yuan checked, it was the same person who had sent a friend request earlier, now messaging again.
“So persistent” Surprised by their determination, she clicked Accept.
A window instantly appeared. “Wife”
“Who is your wife”
Su Yuan frowned. She hated people who joked around like this the moment they became friends. She found the profile in her contact list, hovered the mouse over it, ready to block him if he said anything else inappropriate.
“It is you. I am your husband, Ye Huang”
“Oh” Su Yuan froze. Ye Huang. The Ye Huang from Zhu Xian 2.
She never expected her in game husband to track her down. Their virtual marriage had been a spur of the moment joke between two carefree players, no one took it seriously. But now, the situation felt strange. If she were still male, she could have just told him the truth bluntly. After all, Ye Huang had once said gender did not matter.
But she was not a boy anymore. The word husband now made her uneasy, a flicker of guilt pricked her conscience.
“Why so quiet”
Su Yuan stared at the screen, unsure how to respond. She rubbed her nose, leaned back into the sofa chair, and sank deep into its cushion. Reason told her this fake romance was absurd and needed to end immediately.
“What should I do” Propping her chin on her hand, her mind raced. In game, she had let him spend thousands of yuan on her character. He had done it willingly, but ignoring him now would make her seem exactly as Red Leaf accused, cold and heartless.
Thousands of yuan was not trivial. Su Yuan considered herself responsible, if using a cross gender account to receive expensive gifts counted as having integrity, then she certainly had it.
Returning the money was impossible. Once eaten, food is not spat out. And Ye Huang clearly came from wealth, he would not miss a few thousand. Besides, Su Yuan’s budget was already tight. She had no money to give back.
After a long pause, guilt won out. “Actually, I am a guy”
She waited for his reply. In her mind, he would surely be furious, even if he had claimed not to care, who truly did not mind whether their wife was a cute girl or a scruffy dude. She braced for an angry outburst.
To her surprise, Ye Huang replied calmly. “You are honest. If you do not mind, let us just be friends”
His words instantly elevated him in her eyes. Tears welled up. “You are such a good person”
“Gagging”
“That shift was way too fast” Su Yuan muttered.
“Hey, how did you get my QQ number”
“Asked someone”
Su Yuan’s eyes narrowed. She knew exactly who had betrayed her.
Red Leaf.
She pulled up Red Leaf’s chat window. “You gave my QQ to Ye Huang”
“Yep. You should thank me”
“You traitor. Now he is chasing me”
“That is great. You are a girl, he is tall, rich, and handsome, go for it”
“Too late. I told him I am a guy”

“You could still try dating him”
“No thanks”
“You already scolded Red Leaf” Ye Huang messaged.
Su Yuan replied. “Of course. Giving out my number without permission, I showed remarkable restraint by not yelling at her”
“Quitting Zhu Xian 2”
“Yeah, my schedule is packed this semester”
“Good timing, I am busy too. Since you are quitting, I will quit as well”
“Do not. You spent so much on that account, it would be a waste”
“No friends to play with equals no fun. I will just sell the account”
“Oh” Su Yuan’s eyes lit up. Right, she could sell her own Little Fox account. It was loaded with high tier gear and mounts. With her finances strained, she could not afford to miss any earning opportunity.

“”
“Never mind, you are a rich heir, right”
In game spending was not proof enough, but dropping thousands on a random wife and not caring about their real gender. Only a true rich heir would do that purely for amusement.
As soon as she hit send, she regretted it. Rich heir was not a compliment these days. What if he thought she was mocking him. She blinked rapidly, scrambling for a fix.
A moment later, Ye Huang replied. “I am just a spoiled rich heir waiting to die”
He was not offended at all. Su Yuan laughed softly, she had worried for nothing.
“How come you are quiet”
“I am broke” followed by a crying emoji.
After sending it, she cringed. Why did I just whine about being poor to him.
If she were a girl, Ye Huang might have even sent her money, no strings attached. But now that he knew she was male, that generosity vanished. Men giving money to women was natural, they wanted to court them. But between men, it would just be a loan. A gift would feel suspicious.
She kicked herself. Should have kept pretending to be a girl. But then again, if he had given her money, she would feel like a gold digger.
She exchanged a few more casual messages with Red Leaf and Ye Huang, then told them she had important business to attend to.
Because she really did. She opened job sites, searching for part time work.
Dr. Li had said the medication required consistent use. Overnight, her once comfortable allowance turned tight.
Earn more, spend less, the only solution to financial crisis. For Su Yuan, cutting expenses was hopeless. Living frugally hurt her health, and how much could she really save each month. Earning more was the only way, and unless she wanted to become a gold digger, that meant finding a job.
Online listings were plentiful, but suitable ones were rare. After a long search, she found one nearby that seemed easy, handing out flyers.
She nudged Ji Yehan, who was watching a movie.
“What” He pulled off his headphones. Seeing her browsing job posts, he asked, “Looking for part time work”
“Yeah” She pointed to the listing.
“Flyer distribution. Not bad, pays about seventy or eighty yuan a day”
Su Yuan nodded. “Do you think I would be okay at it. Is it tiring”
Ji Yehan thought for a moment. “Not really. You should try it. With your looks, you will not have trouble” Handing out flyers was partly about appearance. A handsome guy or a cute girl got better results, fewer doors slammed in their faces.
Encouraged by Ji Yehan’s support, Su Yuan felt a warm glow of happiness. She left a message in the employer’s email inbox. Then, after a pause, she opened the game forum and posted.
Selling Premium Zhu Xian 2 Account. High level, top tier gear, rare mounts. Highest bidder wins.
