Chapter 136: Orange Juice, Again Orange Juice

"Ding-dong~"

A sound came from the snack supermarket's automatic doors. Two girls in casual clothes stretched in unison and walked out.

"Taozi, you've taken a few more days off. I feel like that busybody Long Mian is already annoyed with you. Be careful she doesn't make things difficult for you."

Su Tao sighed helplessly at her colleague's question. "I can't help it. There were really important matters. I'm even considering quitting this part-time job."

Her colleague Li Ran, blowing in the cold wind, said lightly, "Then just quit. You're only a freshman, and there's no requirement for social practice credits. You don't earn much working part-time in this run-down place, and you're busy to death."

Every time students finished class, especially during the evening shift, the number of people lining up was countless.

Just standing there working the cashier, her limbs would go numb by the end of the night.

If she accidentally undercharged by a few tens of yuan, she'd have to make up the difference with her own money, essentially working for free that day.

Su Tao saved up her own tuition fees. Without this part-time job, finding another one near the school and close to Chi Xiao Cheng's home would be genuinely difficult.

Or rather, all the good ones were already snatched up.

Su Tao sighed. "Never mind, I'll think about it some more."

"If it really doesn't work out, why don't you go to Dongfang Yang's coffee shop? That little Cheng... yes, that little orange, isn't she working there? Your relationship is so good, and Dongfang Yang is interested in you too."

Li Ran raised an eyebrow and nudged Su Tao with her shoulder. "If you ask me, Dongfang Yang is much better than that Ye Liang. He's a stupidly rich young master; you might as well just go for him."

Su Tao rolled her eyes helplessly at Li Ran. "Senior, don't say things like that. Where would I find the time? My advisor recently asked me to write two papers for a journal. I'm only a freshman, why am I already dealing with papers!"

"Your advisor is nurturing your talent. As your senior, let me tell you..."

She was still talking when Su Tao's phone went "ding," interrupting Li Ran.

It was a special alert notification.

Li Ran raised an eyebrow. "Who's giving you special alerts?"

"It's Xiao Cheng."

Fearing that missing Chi Xiao Cheng's messages might lead to another accident for her, Su Tao had set all notifications related to Chi Xiao Cheng as priority alerts.

Li Ran leaned her head over, saw the content on the screen, and drew out the end of her sentence meaningfully, "Ooh~ playing games~"

Su Tao's face instantly flushed. "What are you talking about? She was injured and hospitalized before, so I... I just went to take care of her."

"Oh, so that's it. No wonder you took time off from school and took time off here specifically."

Li Ran understood.

No wonder she wasn't interested in Ye Liang, Dongfang Yang, or even Si Chen.

So there was this kind of relationship with that little orange. It seemed she needed to keep her distance from Su Tao; if that little orange misunderstood, things could get serious.

Li Ran's expression instantly showed she got it, and she immediately stated she had other things to do, parting ways with Su Tao.

Watching her senior's departing back, Su Tao sighed helplessly.

Such misunderstandings seemed to be increasing at school.

But she really couldn't explain too much. The fact that Chi Xiao Cheng was yandere was only known to a few people close to her; she had never spoken about it to outsiders.

But it was precisely these trivial matters entangling her life in various aspects that made her feel annoyed and stressed.

Walking into an empty, deserted area, Su Tao suddenly scratched her head vigorously again. "Why do I have to write papers, ughhh? I have no time or ideas at all! Maybe I'll just write them during these three days at Xiao Cheng's place."

After saying that, she took out her phone again and saw the "expecting cute" emoji that Chi Xiao Cheng had sent. Her burgeoning idea quickly deflated.

"Never mind. Xiao Cheng probably wouldn't be happy that way. We agreed I'd spend time with her, so I should just enjoy it properly."

After all, it was just three days of relaxing at home.

It wouldn't be as extreme as last time.

Su Tao completely relaxed. Compared to all the pressures outside, Chi Xiao Cheng's place had become a space for de-stressing.

Even just lying on that bed, full of little Cheng's scent, she would unconsciously relax.

The door opened.

A warm breeze drifted out.

Sure enough, the small loli with brown hair had already adjusted the living room's air conditioning to a comfortable temperature.

Not only that, Su Tao also noticed that the house's originally tiled floor was now covered with a full layer of soft carpet.

Chi Xiao Cheng was sitting barefoot on the carpet, teasing Da Wang with a cat wand.

Da Wang was quite proud. He wanted to catch the cat wand but couldn't, puffing out his cheeks as if to bare his teeth, his small expression quite adorable.

Such a warm and healing scene made Su Tao involuntarily smile.

Taking off her boots, without even needing to change into slippers, Su Tao stepped onto the soft carpet. "Xiao Cheng, good afternoon."

Chi Xiao Cheng glanced sideways at Su Tao. Her normally round pupils had subtly elongated, showing a hint of unnatural strangeness.

It was a sign of her leaning towards yandere behavior.

Su Tao met those eyes, and her previously relaxed smile abruptly vanished. Her mood inexplicably grew tense.

She hadn't done anything, and no one had provoked Xiao Cheng, had they?

How was she... subtly becoming yandere?

Just then, Chi Xiao Cheng's words reached Su Tao's ears, "Taotao, the door isn't closed, you know."

Su Tao snapped back to attention, realizing that she had been so preoccupied with watching Chi Xiao Cheng and Da Wang that she hadn't closed the door after entering.

She turned to close the door, but a gust of wind, from nowhere, suddenly swept in.

As it ruffled her hair, it also pulled the door shut.

With a heavy thud, the door closed very securely.

The living room lights weren't exactly bright. Chi Xiao Cheng remained seated on the carpet, smiling faintly as she watched her.

It was as if nothing had happened.

Yet it also felt as if something extraordinary had occurred, leaving Su Tao with an inexplicable... sense of unease.

Su Tao composed herself, first pressing the light switch twice to brighten the living room, then smiled at Chi Xiao Cheng. "Xiao Cheng, are you hungry? Should I make dinner?"

"Oh, no rush for cooking," Chi Xiao Cheng said, getting up with Da Wang in her arms and standing before Su Tao, extending a hand.

"What is it?"

Su Tao looked at the small hand, puzzled.

Was she asking to hold hands?

She placed her hand on hers.

However, Chi Xiao Cheng shook her head. "It's your phone. Starting today, Taotao's phone will be managed by me. You'll only be able to use your phone for half an hour each day, at 10 AM and 10 PM."

Su Tao froze for a moment, then instinctively asked, "Why?"

Chi Xiao Cheng pouted. "We agreed you'd only spend these three days with me, so of course, Taotao can't go looking for other people."

Upon hearing this, Su Tao suddenly turned her head to look at the tightly closed door.

So, the moment she stepped inside...

The game.

Had already begun.

Su Tao felt a little nervous, but then she remembered that Chi Xiao Cheng wasn't completely cutting her off from the outside world like last time.

That reassured her quite a bit.

She was just a bit insecure, afraid that if Su Tao chatted too much with others, she would no longer want her.

Handing her phone over to Chi Xiao Cheng, for a modern person, it felt strangely uncomfortable to have that heavy 'brick' missing from her pocket.

However...

Seeing Chi Xiao Cheng's satisfied smile as she put the phone away, Su Tao indulgently said, "Alright, Xiao Cheng, now that your phone is put away, what do we do next?"

Chi Xiao Cheng beamed. "We're not really doing anything specific for now. Taotao, you must be thirsty after just arriving. Would you like a drink?"

"How about some orange juice?"
