Chapter 33: Triggering A Trap

Liu Guijia leaned against the wall, watching Chi Xiaocheng with an amused gaze, playing with her phone. At the same time, she kicked the crouching companion next to her.

The minion, wearing black-rimmed glasses, with loose hair, lowered her head, her expression gloomy. She paused, then quickly put away her phone.

She stood up, head bowed, staring blankly at Chi Xiaocheng.

That sinister gaze made people fear Liu Guijia, the leader, even more.

Chi Xiaocheng composed herself, reaching up to grip the brim of her hood, pulling it low. Half her face was obscured, and her crimson eyes, deep within the hood's shadow, glinted with a faint red glow.

When facing bullies like this, the softer one acted, the more they would press their advantage.

Chi Xiaocheng was well aware of this, and she timidly walked towards Liu Guijia.

Head bowed, allowing a wisp of delicate hair to escape from beneath her hood and hang down, she stretched out a small hand and said nervously, "My money… give me back my money..."

Liu Guijia smiled.

She was about to explode in angry mockery, but was quickly restrained by her minion.

Liu Guijia turned with annoyance. "What?"

The minion, still dishevelled, pointed a finger towards a corner of the hallway, from which a red light emanated.

Liu Guijia's pupils contracted slightly, and her tense shoulders relaxed. She pointed at the door. "Since we're already here, aren't you going to invite us in before we talk? It's freezing outside, and this year the snow's coming late. It'll snow in a few days, so it's too cold, right?"

As she spoke, she and her minion stepped aside from the doorway.

Chi Xiaocheng glanced at a camera in the hallway; it was installed by the residential property management. Every floor had several to prevent accidents.

It would be perfect if they decided to act here.

But it didn't matter;褚 San would come looking for the handkerchief anyway.

Chi Xiaocheng opened the door and walked in. After Liu Guijia and her minion entered, she pulled the door mostly shut, leaving a slight gap.

Once inside, Liu Guijia casually opened the fridge, took out a bottle of cola, and then, as if in her own home, plopped down onto the sofa.

Crossing her legs, she mused to herself, "It's truly incredible. We both came from the bottom, so how is it that you get to have such a nice house in such a good neighborhood?"

Chi Xiaocheng remained silent, simply watching her open the cola and take a sip.

Then, she slowly walked up to her, raising her small head. "Can I have my money back now?"

"Heh." Liu Guijia turned, looking down on Chi Xiaocheng. "Sure, how much do you want me to return?"

Chi Xiaocheng bit her lip, that small expression reflected in Liu Guijia's eyes. "Three... three years, not counting junior high. You... you just owe me seven thousand yuan!"

Liu Guijia sighed in mock surprise. "Seven thousand yuan, huh? I didn't realize I'd taken that much from you."

Even she found it hard to believe.

After all, Chi Xiaocheng was dirt poor, just like her. Her family didn't even have money for her tuition; all she knew was that her brother, who had gotten into street life, had been giving her money.

She looked at Chi Xiaocheng, a hint of mockery in her eyes. "Return your money?"

Chi Xiaocheng seemed stunned, taking a step back in dismay. "You... what do you mean? You're not going to return it? You said you would!"

"Heh!" Liu Guijia spread her thumb and forefinger over her mouth, as if stifling a laugh.

Then she put her hand to her forehead, pushing back her bangs, and burst out laughing. "Hahahaha, you actually said 'return money'?!"

"Hahahahaha, are you trying to make me die of laughter?" She raised her head, lifting her fist high, as if asking but not asking, "When did you get the nerve to resist me? Who gave you this courage?"

"Was it Fish Leong?!"

A shrill cry erupted.

"THWACK—!"

A heavy fist landed squarely on Chi Xiaocheng's face.

The powerful force created a gust of wind that whipped back Chi Xiaocheng's hood. Her body tumbled to the ground, rolling twice before crashing against a chair.

The blow was heavy, and her face hurt.

Even with the pain reduction, Chi Xiaocheng still felt a burning sensation on her face. This pain was no less intense than if she had deliberately slashed her own arm with a knife.

But... it was bearable.

She did not let anger cloud her judgment; pain only sharpened her mind.

All she had to do was wait for褚 San to bring the handkerchief. The more brutally Liu Guijia acted, the more legitimate her justification for "self-harming due to bullying and becoming yandere" would be.

This punch was also part of the plan; there was no need to get angry at all.

Chi Xiaocheng was perfectly clear on the matter. The moment she lifted her head, her calm eyes transformed into an expression of nervousness, fear, and fragility, her lips trembling uncontrollably. "You... how could you do that!"

She clutched her cheek, feeling a metallic taste in her mouth.

The punch had drawn blood.

Ugh, the taste of blood was truly unpleasant. Hopefully it would turn into the same flavor as the blood she used to give Tao Tao. This was also a good chance to experience what Tao Tao felt back then.

A hint of something unnatural flashed in her eyes. Seeing Liu Guijia stand up, Chi Xiaocheng's body began to tremble slightly.

It was as if the fears of old were surging back.

The girl tossed her blonde hair, walking step by step towards Chi Xiaocheng. "Honestly, I never thought you'd dare to ask me for money back. Now's perfect."

She reached Chi Xiaocheng and knelt down.

She grabbed her long, brown hair.

Pulling her head up. "You've been avoiding me for half a month. It's time to remind you who's truly in charge."

"SMACK—!"

Another slap landed on Chi Xiaocheng's face. The soft touch and sharp crack against her palm made Liu Guijia frown.

At this moment, Chi Xiaocheng should be on her knees, snot and tears streaming, begging her to stop hitting her.

What did this flat reaction mean? Was she looking down on her?

And that face...

"Tsk!"

She slapped her again. "Always this face, always this face! How dare you be so pretty, so fragile-looking and so likable, why?"

"SHINK—"

She pulled a small knife from her lower back and held it against Chi Xiaocheng's face, sneering, "Chi Xiaocheng, what do you think would happen if I scarred your face?"

Chi Xiaocheng's pupils contracted. Fear surfaced on her face, and she shook her head, about to struggle.

Seeing this, a look of satisfaction finally appeared on Liu Guijia's face. She said to the minion behind her, "You, go check if the window's closed properly. It wouldn't do if she screamed."

The minion was crouched on the ground, back against the sofa, knees drawn up, arms wrapped around herself, as if experiencing the same abuse as Chi Xiaocheng, trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing no movement behind her, Liu Guijia frowned in displeasure and said savagely, "What, didn't you hear me?"

"Ye... yes!"

The minion nodded and frantically ran towards the wide open balcony window.

Liu Guijia watched this scene with satisfaction, then turned back to Chi Xiaocheng. "See? You should be like her too, instead of daring to glare at me now."

She didn't notice the composure hidden in Chi Xiaocheng's eyes. The cold blunt edge of the knife grazed her cheek as Liu Guijia proclaimed her victory. "I'm also very curious. After training you for three years, how is it you still haven't become a dog? Who gave you hope?"

Her eyes shifted, thinking.

They finally settled on a photo of two people beneath the television.

She sneered, "Was it that bitch Su Tao?"

"THWACK—!"

A small hand tightly clamped onto Liu Guijia's wrist. Her crimson eyes contracted, like a cat protecting its food.

"Try saying that again."
