Chapter 144: The Irreversible Path (Bonus Chapter For Gugu, Who Brings Hope)

Outside Kyushu University's main gate, three burly men in plain clothes stood under a willow tree, enduring the biting wind, poised for action.

The leader, a man with a guileless appearance but sharp eyes, instructed the other two, "Remember, follow the Young Master's orders. If Miss Chi gets into a conflict with anyone later, you must immediately step in to protect her and prevent the situation from escalating. Understand?"

His name was Gao Han, and he was one of Si Chen's most capable subordinates.

The Young Master had given specific instructions for this mission: they were to handle Chi Xiaocheng's matter with utmost care. If anything went wrong and they couldn't resolve it, he'd end up feeding the fish in the river.

The two younger men were clearly not as sharp as Gao Han; though strong, they were a bit slow-witted.

One of them raised a hand and asked, "Boss, with the three of us with Miss Chi, who'd dare lay a hand on her? Aren't you making too big a deal out of this?"

"Who asked you to butt in?" Gao Han glared at his subordinate. "Just listen to me; you can't go wrong. The Young Master's orders were..."

He hadn't finished speaking when the sharp-eyed Gao Han spotted a petite figure walking towards them from across the street.

He immediately shut his mouth and whispered to the two, "Anyway, you know to demonstrate your professional conduct, right? Later, act according to my cues."

As they met up, Gao Han noticed Chi Xiaocheng's expression wasn't good, which made him much more serious.

"Miss Chi, I'm here on the Young Master's behalf to help you with something. You can just call me Xiao Gao."

Chi Xiaocheng nodded slightly. "Did Si Chen tell you what this is about?"

"No, the Young Master only told us it was to resolve a conflict and that we should follow your instructions. If anything happens, we're to handle it for you."

"Alright, follow me."

Chi Xiaocheng realized that she was probably, to some extent, a bit yandere. Perhaps she had acted the part so much that she gradually couldn't shed the mask.

Or perhaps she was inherently more extreme and had simply never noticed.

With her 'darkening' ability continuously active, her yandere tendencies were maintained at a constant state, but that didn't mean Chi Xiaocheng had lost her rationality.

In these peaceful times, even with Si Chen's backing, she couldn't just kill someone on the street.

However, teaching this manager named Long Mian a lesson and getting some revenge for Su Tao, that was certainly feasible.

On a winter weekend, there were very few people out. With temperatures below zero, university students naturally preferred to stay indoors.

The snack supermarket was deserted.

The moment Chi Xiaocheng entered, a young shop assistant at the counter said, "Welcome."

But as Gao Han followed, the assistant's expression slowly turned to one of worry.

A small girl leading three aggressive, burly men, all with grim faces—it certainly didn't look like they were there to buy snacks, did it?

Cautiously, she asked an extra question, "Are you here to buy snacks?"

Chi Xiaocheng offered a smile, signaling the young woman not to be nervous. "Is your manager, Long Mian, here?"

The young woman pointed upstairs. "Manager Long is on the second floor. May I ask why you're looking for her..."

As soon as Chi Xiaocheng heard this, she walked straight up to the second floor without looking back.

Gao Han immediately followed. One of the subordinates offered the young woman a slight smile. "Don't come up, no matter what you hear. It's best if you close the door, understand?"

It was clear they were there to cause trouble.

The group ascended to the second floor, where they saw a middle-aged woman in her forties, leisurely watching a show on a sofa with her legs crossed, enjoying the air conditioning and holding a large bag of beef jerky.

She looked quite content.

Upon seeing Chi Xiaocheng approach, she frowned in displeasure. "Who are you? The snack section is downstairs. Didn't you know the second floor is off-limits?"

"You're Long Mian?"

Long Mian glanced at Gao Han, who had followed up, and her tone became slightly less aggressive. "I am Long Mian. What can I do for you?"

"I'm Su Tao's friend."

As soon as Su Tao's name was spoken, Long Mian's eyes immediately filled with disdain. "What? Su Tao isn't coming back to work, so she sent you to do what?"

Chi Xiaocheng asked, "As the manager here, why were you targeting Su Tao?"

Long Mian scoffed. "Oh, I get it. You're here to stick up for Su Tao. When did I ever target her? She came here for a part-time job, and she wasn't doing well, so what's wrong with me, as her superior, reprimanding her?"

"Besides, what business is it of an outsider like you to interfere with our internal affairs?"

Chi Xiaocheng listened and then smiled.

Truly, she was the most brainless villain designed in the original novel.

Low IQ, utterly illogical, and after being influenced by the will of the world, she stubbornly fixated on targeting the protagonist.

She wouldn't last two chapters after her official appearance, destined to be humiliated by the protagonist.

Chi Xiaocheng glanced at Gao Han. "Teach her a lesson, then remove her from this position and throw her out. Also, contact the owner of this store and have them replace the manager. Can you do that?"

Chi Xiaocheng had originally intended to handle it herself.

Now, however, she couldn't be bothered to deal with this person.

Ever since leaving the community, her Alertness skill had been giving faint warnings.

Chi Xiaocheng knew someone was tracking her, observing from the shadows.

Once this was dealt with, she planned to return, lest delays lead to complications.

But when Long Mian heard Chi Xiaocheng's words, she burst into manic laughter. "Teach *me* a lesson? Fire *me*? Who the hell do you think you are, you don't even qualify!"

"Do you have any idea? The owner of this snack supermarket branch is my uncle! Do you think bringing someone with you can scare me? Believe it or not, I'll call the police!"

"Call the police?" Chi Xiaocheng raised an eyebrow.

Long Mian thought she was scared and sneered, "I see you're just like that bitch Su Tao, looking for a scolding, aren't you? What business is it of yours how I treat her?"

"And with a face like Su Tao's, you've probably seduced quite a few men, haven't you?"

She continued her taunts and then yelled out, and a burly man emerged from a room behind her.

With the burly man backing her, she feared Gao Han even less.

Her mouth was still prattling on incessantly, but she didn't notice Chi Xiaocheng's increasingly dark expression.

A fruit knife had appeared in her hand at some point.

SMACK!

The small hand, not holding the knife, slapped Long Mian across the face.

One of her front teeth was actually knocked out by the immense force, and half her face rapidly swelled up.

In her 'darkened' state, Chi Xiaocheng's strength was even greater than Su Tao's!

And the few words just spoken had caused her 'darkening' intensity to increase sharply.

Long Mian froze for a moment, then furiously extended a hand.

"You little bitch, how dare you hit me!"

She reached out to grab Chi Xiaocheng's hair.

However, a cold gleam flashed by; her outstretched hand hadn't even stopped, when her five fingers instantly separated from her palm.

Crimson droplets spattered everywhere in the living room.

The cuts on the fingers were perfectly clean.

Chi Xiaocheng's movements were not only swift but also precise and graceful.

Her cat-like vertical pupils emitted a red glow, fixed intently on Long Mian. "Who were you just... cursing?"

My Tao Tao is someone *you* can curse?

A 'schick' sound, accompanied by a shriek; Long Mian hadn't even reacted, hadn't even seen Chi Xiaocheng make her move.

Her fat palm was already falling towards the floor.

Such a lightning-fast change caught even Gao Han completely off guard.

He hurriedly said, "Quick, protect the target!"

"Huh?" The subordinate looked at Gao Han, confused. "Boss, Miss Chi doesn't need our protection, does she?"

"Idiot! The Young Master told us to protect the *person* who gets into a conflict with Miss Chi!"

The scene instantly devolved into chaos.

To outsiders, it was just a farce.

But Chi Xiaocheng, after venting, felt incredibly refreshed.

I think I really am a little abnormal, aren't I?

She said this to the system in her mind.

At the same time, a call came through on Su Tao's phone.
