Chapter 31 Chapter 31: Crisis, Suspected!
Chapter 31: Crisis, Suspected!
Standing under the shade of the trees, Chi Xiaocheng rolled her eyes, debating whether to go closer and eavesdrop on their conversation, or perhaps chime in and increase her presence.
She stood her ground, mentally reviewing information related to the original owner and Si Chen.
Si Chen wore glasses, was tall, and stood at 1.9 meters.
Ye Liang initially held an ordinary position within his family, but at a young age, he leveraged family resources to establish his own business empire, regaining a firm foothold in the family through his influence.
Dongfang Yang, on the other hand, was an only son showered with boundless affection; he lived a carefree life, doing as he pleased and spending as he wished.
Si Chen was different from Ye Liang and Dongfang Yang.
He was the second son of the Si family, and in the plot's setup, he was excluded during the family's power struggles, ending up in Jiuzhou City after leaving the capital. Through his acquaintance with the female lead, Su Tao, he gradually gained resources, eventually returning to his family to assert his dominance. At this stage, his relationship with Su Tao was actually more akin to pure friendship between platonic friends.
It was only later, through interactions with Su Tao, that Si Chen gradually fell in love with this "white moonlight," beginning to compete with many other male leads.
The original owner had very little interaction with him, only confessing once. That time, it seemed the original owner found the gloomy, bespectacled Si Chen too frightening, so after that single confession, she dared not bother him again.
"But this information isn't enough yet." Chi Xiaocheng's eyes flickered. "System, spend 200 Emotion Points to purchase chapters 120 to 160 of the original novel."
Her memory only went up to chapter 120, where the original owner died and a new female antagonist, Chen Qian, came online. Now, because of her, the butterfly effect had already occurred, and the subsequent plot could only serve as a reference.
Memories flooded her mind like the wind, and Chi Xiaocheng frowned. It was indeed as she had guessed. The subsequent plot had completely deviated from the current developments.
Of the next 40 chapters, half were about Su Tao's struggle with Chi Xiaocheng's matter and her overcoming her emotional burden with the help of several male leads. The other half introduced a new male lead, a divine physician. The main storyline revolved around healing the injuries on her body.
Ye Liang was fine; his favorability towards Su Tao was the highest, and he often appeared in conflict with this divine physician male lead. Insignificant figures like Dongfang Yang were, even in the original novel, merely background characters during this period. Si Chen was still on his way to becoming a significant player.
"Although the subsequent plot doesn't mention it yet, his relationship with Su Tao hasn't warmed up. Perhaps I can use that to my advantage now?"
Chi Xiaocheng squinted, watching the two converse, hesitating whether to step forward and make her presence known. Suddenly, Si Chen, who had been talking with Su Tao, sharply turned his head. His profound eyes, as aggressive as a cobra's, fixed upon her, causing Chi Xiaocheng's body to tremble involuntarily. She quickly lowered her head and melted into the crowd, completely extinguishing her earlier idea. Her sixth sense told her this person was very dangerous!
Only after she hastily departed did Su Tao notice Si Chen's unusual behavior. She turned her head and asked, "What's wrong?"
Si Chen extended his slender middle finger and pushed up his glasses from the bridge. A glint flashed in his deep eyes as he smiled faintly. "Nothing, where were we just now?"
Su Tao: "Well, we were discussing, if there were a yandere-like person in reality, how do you think they should be treated?"
Fleeing the school gate, Chi Xiaocheng kept muttering, recalling that gaze. "What was that guy's deal? That was the first time I felt such an intense aura; it was like he wanted to tear me apart." She secretly warned herself not to provoke Si Chen until she could protect herself.
Soon, she arrived outside Moonlight Café. Since she had told Dongfang Yang before leaving, the young master was now bored, standing by the door, playing with his phone.
She took out her phone and checked her outfit: a cute teddy bear hoodie that concealed her petite figure, with brown hair cascading down. On both sides, two small white lotus hair clips pulled back a wisp of hair. Unlike traditional pigtails, these two detached wisps swayed with her movements, spontaneously evoking the innocence of a girl next door.
She walked over, intentionally staying out of Dongfang Yang's line of sight, then popped out. "Boss, are you waiting for me?"
"Your little darling suddenly appeared!" Dongfang Yang jumped in surprise, and those very words immediately popped into his head.
He put a fist to his lips and gave a light cough. "The air conditioning in the café just started up and it's a bit warm inside. They're adjusting the temperature, so I'm just out here catching some cool air."
"Oh, I see..." Chi Xiaocheng sighed, staring intently at him. "If the boss said he was waiting for me, I'd be so happy!"
Meeting her expectant gaze, Dongfang Yang felt an inexplicable flutter in his heart. He immediately scoffed, mocking, "Don't flatter yourself, you idiot. It was just a coincidence that I ran into you." With that, he strode into the café first. Following behind him, Chi Xiaocheng flashed a hint of a playful smile. "Little tsundere, can't a direct approach like this handle you?"
Inside the café, Dongfang Yang began introducing Chi Xiaocheng to her work. "Your job is to just sit here when there's nothing to do. Whether it's taking money or chatting with customers, it's fine. If you don't know how to make coffee, just have Chu San help you."
The honest-looking man waiting at the counter gave Chi Xiaocheng a slight smile. "Hello, Miss. My name is Chu San."
Dongfang Yang waved his hand. "No need to be so polite. She's just a lowly worker too." Then he looked at Chi Xiaocheng again. "Currently, it's just the two of you in the café. If you don't understand anything, ask Chu San. I don't care what you do, but don't let my café go bankrupt, got it?"
Chi Xiaocheng nodded meekly. "Boss, can I play on my phone during work?"
Dongfang Yang's mouth twitched. "You're not allowed to delay work."
"Understood." So that meant she could play. From the looks of it, this was just an excuse for her to repay her debt; he probably didn't expect her to actually run the café. Finding an excuse to repay debt and sheltering her was the main purpose. Even if the starting point was the female lead, Su Tao, Dongfang Yang's perception of her had clearly changed.
Sighing inwardly, Chi Xiaocheng bowed again, saying very earnestly, "Thank you, Young Master Dongfang, I will work hard!" This thank you was from the heart. This person wasn't bad, just held a different stance than her.
"Dongfang Yang, rest assured, I'll take good care of Taotao for you! Later, whether kissing or in bed, I'll silently whisper your name and thank you for your contribution, giving you a sense of participation."
Dongfang Yang's main reason for coming to the café was to familiarize Chi Xiaocheng with the situation there. Now that the introduction was complete, he intended to leave. However, before leaving, he still mentioned the hospital incident to Chi Xiaocheng. "Although I don't know what you and Su Tao are hiding from me, I hope you'll be more rational in whatever you do. Don't hurt Su Tao's feelings, especially regarding the incident before last. Don't be so willful anymore."
Chi Xiaocheng was startled upon hearing this. She quickly nodded like a pecking chick. The incident before last referred to the basement. She was still suspected! Although his impression of her had improved considerably, his doubts clearly hadn't lessened.
"The explanation that I suffered an emotional breakdown and psychological issues due to bullying needs to be substantiated. I need despairing repression, profound enough to be the source of a yandere's nature." In an instant, Dongfang Yang's earlier hint of suspicion, and Si Chen's cobra-like gaze, flashed through her mind.
Chi Xiaocheng plotted in her mind, her thoughts gradually recalling some of the people who had bullied the original female lead. She took out her phone and sent a WeChat message to someone whose ID was saved as "Liu Guijia."
"Liu Guijia, when are you going to pay me back?"
"Now, I need to be bullied once!"
Chi Xiaocheng slowly raised her head, a hint of ruthlessness gleaming in her rational eyes.
