Chapter 26 Do You Like My Body?

“Do you like it...?”

Su Tao put down her phone and leaned against the pillow, strands of her beautiful hair falling to her shoulders. She gazed melancholically at the ceiling, gradually losing herself in thought.

Couldn't bear to see her hurt.

She was a very important person.

Wanted her to stay by her side.

...

Many memories flashed through Su Tao’s mind, eventually settling on the scene from elementary school: that innocent, adorable little girl blinking her reddened eyes, timidly calling her "Older Sister."

She let out a breath, then typed, “I don’t think there’s any romantic love between us. I see her more as a younger sister, I suppose.”

Chi Xiao-cheng read the message and thought to herself, *Just as I expected*.

Given the current situation, in terms of romantic affection, Ye Liang, Dongfang Yang, and others probably had higher scores than she did.

However, in terms of overall significance, they weren't as important as she was.

Chi Xiao-cheng tried a different angle: “Miss Peach, then do you think that Little Orange is pretty? If she were a potential partner, would you reject her?”

Peach: "Huh?"

Peach: "Little Orange is certainly very pretty. 'Cute' might be a better description for her. In terms of looks, she’s not bad at all. But as for your later question, I don't know."

Without truly experiencing it, how could one directly say whether they could accept the other person?

Even when making assumptions, Su Tao was incredibly hesitant.

Humans are strange creatures.

When faced with two or more choices, they fall into hesitation, feeling indecisive.

The truth is, when you hesitate about whether to do something, you've actually already made a choice internally; you just haven't found sufficient reasons to convince yourself.

A simple example: you stay up late every night reading novels or watching videos, and occasionally you might think you shouldn't be so degenerate, considering whether to get up early tomorrow and change yourself.

But often, you hesitate whether to stay up one more night.

When hesitation arises, it proves you already want to continue staying up.

Then you hide under the covers, lying on your side with your hand under your head, the light from your phone screen not too bright, illuminating that silly smiling handsome face.

Seeing Su Tao hesitate, Chi Xiao-cheng understood perfectly: the other party wasn’t completely devoid of feelings.

With such a spark, it could ignite into a raging wildfire.

The plan was feasible.

She typed, guiding: “Miss Peach, I generally understand your situation. Pretending to like her is actually feasible. According to what you’ve said, one aspect is that she likes you, and the other is her reliance on you, wanting you to see her as your sole priority.”

“You just need to start from the latter. Coax her more with words and actions. You don't need to genuinely like her; just make her feel that you care about her a lot.”

“Then, when her emotions are stable, you can make adjustments.”

Peach: "Okay, thank you, Doctor. What about medication?"

Doctor Cheng: "I don't know her physical condition, so I wouldn't dare prescribe medicine recklessly. If needed, the most I can give you are some common medications with minimal side effects that can stabilize her mood. If possible, it's best you find a psychologist for her."

Peach: "I understand."

Doctor Cheng: "Mm, if you have any questions, you can continue to come to me. It is our responsibility as doctors to do our best to treat every patient. Although I cannot prescribe medication based on her physical condition, I will teach you how to resolve some mental issues."

Peach: "Thank you very much!"

The chat ended, and Chi Xiao-cheng put down her phone.

She knew that with Su Tao’s personality, if she, as Doctor Cheng, continued to chat with her a few more times and gained her trust, Su Tao would listen to many of the things she said, wouldn't she?

It didn't matter if she didn't like her now.

There was still a long future ahead.

Meanwhile, on the other side, after collecting her thoughts, Su Tao got out of bed and stretched.

Her constitution was already good; she usually came in first in the women's long-distance running competitions in school. After a night's rest, her fever had significantly subsided.

She arrived in front of Chi Xiao-cheng’s hospital room, hesitating whether to go in.

What Doctor Cheng had told her had a huge impact.

Little Orange's self-destructive obsession was of the type that posed no harm to others, but she would hurt herself. Su Tao couldn't just let it go.

She also had to make Little Orange believe she liked her.

“I’m sorry, Little Orange, I’m not intentionally playing with your feelings.”

Su Tao closed her eyes, and after preparing herself mentally,

slowly opened the door.

“Little Orange, good morning. How are you feeling?”

As soon as she entered, Su Tao began to ask about Chi Xiao-cheng’s health. This part wasn't feigned; she wanted Chi Xiao-cheng to recover as much as anyone else.

Chi Xiao-cheng sat obediently on the bed, her small hands clasped over her abdomen. The blue and white hospital gown hid her petite figure. She smiled faintly at Su Tao, “My fever hasn't gone down yet, but I feel much better. Taotao, have you had breakfast?”

She reached out, intending to press the call button for the nurse to send over a breakfast.

But her outstretched left hand was covered in dense, crisscrossing scars. The moment she raised it, it startled Su Tao, who thought Chi Xiao-cheng was about to offer her own blood for breakfast.

She rushed over to Chi Xiao-cheng's side in a few quick steps and grabbed her small hand. “I’ve already eaten. The hospital provides breakfast. As for you, if you haven’t rested enough, you can sleep a bit longer.”

“I can’t sleep,” Chi Xiao-cheng said, feeling the warmth on the back of her hand, then suddenly added, “Want to chat?”

“Sure,” Su Tao pulled over a small stool and sat in front of Chi Xiao-cheng. When she looked up at her, she noticed something else.

She moved to sit by her bedside.

“What’s wrong?” Chi Xiao-cheng looked back, but Su Tao held her head still.

She took out a comb. “Don’t move. You didn’t even fix yourself up after getting out of bed, your hair’s all sticking up.”

With that, she gently stroked her hair.

Chi Xiao-cheng simply leaned back, enjoying it while chatting, “Taotao, you smell so good.”

“Huh?” Su Tao paused her movements.

Are we talking about this?

She reached out and twirled a strand of Chi Xiao-cheng’s hair, unsure how to respond for a moment. “This... it might be the hospital’s shower gel, perhaps?”

“No,” Chi Xiao-cheng’s lips curved upwards. “I don’t smell as good as Taotao.”

“No... Little Orange, you... you smell pretty good too.”

How awkward!

Su Tao’s toes were curling constantly in her slippers. She had always wanted to open up and have a proper face-to-face talk with Chi Xiao-cheng.

Now she had the chance.

And they were talking about who smelled better!

She desperately wanted to change the subject, but couldn’t figure out how to start.

Fortunately, Chi Xiao-cheng didn’t delve deeper into the “who smells better” topic. Instead, as if remembering something, she paused and looked at her clothes. “Speaking of which, when I woke up last night, I found my hair was dry, my clothes had been changed, and there’s a new phone here. Who bathed me?”

Su Tao quickly replied, “I bathed you last night. Dongfang Yang helped you change your phone.”

“That’s good. I thought someone else had bathed me. If I weren’t clean, Taotao, you would surely dislike me, wouldn’t you?” Chi Xiao-cheng let out a long breath. “It’s a good thing it was Taotao.”

Su Tao scratched her cheek, feeling that what Chi Xiao-cheng said was a bit strange.

But remembering her chat with Doctor Cheng, she still replied, “Little Orange, don’t think too much. I would never dislike you, no matter what.”

Words of reassurance. This should be able to stabilize Little Orange, right?

But she didn’t expect Chi Xiao-cheng to follow up on her words, asking, “Then do you like it?”

Su Tao was taken aback. “Like what?”

“My body.”
