Chapter 90 I'Ll Never Love Tao, Do You Believe Me?
Outside of Chi Xiaocheng's apartment complex, Chen Kun, clad in his Meituan delivery gear, felt like he was in for a good day.
He'd made plans with his buddies to hang out with some freshman girls from the dorm, hitting up a karaoke bar that evening. The weather forecast had predicted heavy snow from afternoon to evening.
He figured his get-together with the girls was doomed.
But to his surprise, not only did it not snow, but the sun even made a rare appearance that afternoon. The evening wasn't as cold as usual either.
"Just gotta finish this last delivery, then I can grab the cash and head out on a date with the girls!"
Chen Kun hummed a little tune as he checked his phone. "Unit 4, 502, Miss Chi."
Staring at the name, Chen Kun paused before the elevator, lost in thought.
Chi wasn't a common surname. Among the many famous freshmen at school, there was a Chi.
She used to pile on the makeup, looking like a drag queen, and chased after several young masters at once. Though not exactly famous, she was a laughingstock among the freshmen.
But recently, Chi Xiaocheng's reputation at school had taken a sharp turn.
Students who'd seen her on the street were saying that Chi Xiaocheng without makeup was unbelievably cute!
Petite and adorable, with a shy demeanor, her bare face was nearly on par with the campus beauty, Su Tao.
Rumor had it that the famous young master, Dongfang Yang, used to be disgusted by the made-up Chi Xiaocheng.
But then she took off the makeup!
And he was completely smitten.
A young master like him had seen every kind of woman, so his approval really made the name "Chi Xiaocheng" buzz among the guys.
A lot of them were hanging around Chi Xiaocheng's classes, hoping to catch a glimpse of her true face.
But they didn't realize that Chi Xiaocheng hardly ever went to class. Skipping class was already her norm.
But Chen Kun was different.
He'd been lucky enough to meet Chi Xiaocheng half a month ago, and he'd even played the role of a righteous hero!
Too bad he hadn't gotten a good look at Chi Xiaocheng's face back then, and he hadn't been able to find her afterward.
When Chi Xiaocheng's reputation improved, he bragged about it in the dorm a few times.
Chen Kun took out his phone and checked the order again.
"Miss Chi, it would be awesome if it was really her."
He stepped into the elevator and went up to the fourth floor.
He soon arrived at Chi Xiaocheng's door. He was about to press the doorbell when he suddenly heard a pig-slaughtering scream from inside.
Chen Kun paused, his hand hovering.
"That sound doesn't seem right, does it?"
He looked down and took a sharp breath.
"Whoa, what's all this red stuff on the ground?"
Chen Kun started to feel nervous, but he took a deep breath. "Come on, this is a nice apartment complex. Nothing's gonna happen. The homeowner must be an artist. This red stuff must be paint, right?"
"Ughhhhhhh!"
The sound from inside the apartment got even louder, piercing through the closed door.
"Haha, watching a horror movie at such a loud volume, these young people now a days."
Chen Kun reached out and pressed the doorbell, so nervous that he didn't even realize the door wasn't closed all the way.
As the doorbell rang, he pushed the door open.
"Hello, your delive..."
Chen Kun froze.
The sight before him made his hair stand on end.
He saw two little girls, each around 5 feet tall. One was holding a burlap sack to the side, while the other, with long, tea-colored hair, was bent over, pulling a knife out of a man lying on the ground.
The floor was painted with bright red, and the tea-haired little girl's hands and face were splashed with drops of blood.
The sound of the doorbell seemed to have stopped them in their tracks. They froze, only their heads turning to stare at him.
One of them had strangely terrifying vertical pupils, like blooming red lights.
The other, holding the burlap sack, was expressionless, as if a scene of red on the ground was already a habit.
The whole scene was just wrong!
They were both such adorable little girls, so why were they so creepy?
The three of them stared at each other, and the world seemed to freeze.
Suddenly, the tea-haired little girl straightened up, the knife in her hand dripping red.
She stared at Chen Kun with a ghost-like gaze and asked, word by word, "You...like Taotao too?"
Chen Kun's legs went weak, and he fell to his knees.
He raised his hands in surrender, the delivery falling to the ground. "Sis, let's talk this over. I'm just a delivery guy."
Looking at Chen Kun's face, Chi Xiaocheng suddenly remembered him. When she had first transmigrated, this boy had been the one who had blocked Ye Liang's underlings for her.
So, she reached up and brushed a couple of strands of hair that were stuck to her lips, and the touch left a touch of crimson on the corner of her mouth.
Then, she gave a bewitching smile. "I remember you. You helped me out last time, big brother. You're a senior, right? Senior, come on in and sit for a while."
There was no doubt that this person was Chi Xiaocheng.
Chen Kun was happy to see her.
But this "senior" was just too much!
He had no choice but to grit his teeth and walk inside.
Then Chi Xiaocheng handed him the knife. "Hold this for me."
"Okay, okay."
Chen Kun took the blood-soaked knife and stared blankly at Chi Xiaocheng and Fang Ning as the two little girls struggled to stuff the raincoat guy into the burlap sack.
He couldn't help swallowing hard. "He...he's dead?"
"Of course not." Chi Xiaocheng said calmly, "We don't do illegal things. He's just unconscious."
"???"
This pool of red on the ground was just from knocking him out?
He didn't dare to speak or ask.
Just then, two police officers in uniform burst through the door.
As soon as they entered, they saw Chen Kun standing to the side, pointing the knife at Chi Xiaocheng and Fang Ning.
One of the officers' pupils contracted, and he pulled out his gun, pointing it at Chen Kun. "You, the knife-wielding criminal, don't move! Drop the knife!"
Chen Kun was dumbfounded.
His legs went weak, and he knelt down again.
He raised his hands in surrender. "Officer, it's a misunderstanding!"
Besides the two officers, a doctor followed in as well. They said that Si Chen had sent them.
After some questioning, the case was classified.
The raincoat man was a burglar, and the two little girls were acting in self-defense.
The delivery man, Chen Kun, had bravely subdued the criminal and also slaughtered a chicken to add to the fun.
After everything was settled, the doctor stayed behind.
She looked at Chi Xiaocheng and shook her hand, saying, "Hello, Miss Chi. I'm the psychologist assigned by the young master. Let's go over the details of your treatment in three days."
Chi Xiaocheng gave the psychologist a long look, not forgetting Si Chen's words that he still liked Su Tao.
In front of the psychologist, she called Si Chen.
"Is everything settled?"
Si Chen's calm voice came from the other end of the line.
Chi Xiaocheng smiled, her tone sweet as she said, "Si Chen, why did you just send a doctor over? I want to see you. Why don't you come over?"
It was the first time Si Chen had heard such a cute, soft voice.
Late at night, a little girl taking the initiative to invite a grown man home...what would happen?
Si Chen lit a cigarette, saying with a sigh, "Would you believe me if I said I will never love Tao?"
