Chapter 20 Chapter 20 – I’Ve Become Like This, And It’S All Because Of You
Chapter 20 – I’Ve Become Like This, And It’S All Because Of You
It should have been a beautiful progression, resolving misunderstandings, opening hearts to each other, and sharing warmth.
But the moment she saw the red liquid in the bottle, it was all shattered into pieces.
In an instant, the scene in the basement flashed through her mind.
Tied to the bed.
Her cheeks forcibly pinched, her mouth pried open with a thumb.
It was the same red liquid.
A similar taste.
It was blood!
“Ugh… cough, cough, cough!”
Su Tao quickly threw the bottle aside and leaned against the wall, dry-heaving.
It was indeed blood; she could smell a faint metallic odor.
Yet the taste in her throat was off. It had an odd sweetness to it, not exactly unpleasant, but human common sense and perception still sparked a physiological revulsion in her.
Amidst her dry heaving and a slight difficulty breathing born of horror, Su Tao’s mind was a jumble.
The icy raindrops hitting her skin stung, preventing her from losing her mind as she had in the basement.
A thread of rationality remained in her mind, pondering why Chi Xiaocheng would do this.
Why would she intentionally make her drink blood?
And where did the blood come from?
What was the motive?
Suddenly, Su Tao remembered something Chi Xiaocheng had said to her in the basement: “Now we’ll truly merge with each other.”
Was force-feeding her blood really for this?
But what did ‘merge’ even mean?
Countless questions flashed through her mind, and then her nostrils caught a faint aroma, distinct from the smell of dirt and blood.
“You don’t like it?”
A soft, gentle question whispered in her ear.
Su Tao stiffly turned her head, strands of wet hair covering half her eyes, concealing the fear in her gaze.
A flash of lightning streaked across the sky, once again illuminating the pitch-black night.
It was only for an instant, but Su Tao still noticed that Chi Xiaocheng’s already crimson eyes seemed to glow with a red light, illuminated by the lightning.
The soft voice paid no heed to her terror, continuing to linger in her ear, “You didn’t like the Tao Tao from the daytime, and you don’t like this either?”
“Oh, I see.”
Chi Xiaocheng wore a look of sudden realization, expertly conjuring that eerie smile, her voice gradually turning morbid, “Tao Tao likes to drink fresh things, doesn’t she?”
Fresh?
What ‘fresh’?
Su Tao’s mind hadn’t even processed it before she heard a “clink” – like a small knife slicing through something.
“Tao Tao, drink.”
A warm breath touched her nose, another flash of lightning streaked by, revealing a pale, slender arm before her, from which fresh blood was steadily flowing.
It hadn’t cut an artery, but the wound was deep, and the blood flowed without ceasing.
She’s harming herself, to make me drink blood?
Watching the slender arm slowly draw closer, a growing fear entered Su Tao’s eyes, replacing the gentleness from moments before.
Only now did she truly believe that Chi Xiaocheng’s behavior in the basement hadn’t been accidental.
She was acting just like before.
This Chi Xiaocheng felt like a stranger to her.
“Tao Tao, why are you looking at me with those eyes? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t dislike me?”
Blood still flowed from her wrist, yet Chi Xiaocheng seemed to feel no pain at all, her gaze fixed intently on Su Tao’s eyes, even in the darkness.
The soft voice grew increasingly resentful, making Su Tao’s heart clench again.
She had a faint feeling that if she couldn’t calm Chi Xiaocheng down now, she might actually jump from the 14th floor!
She swallowed hard, then forcibly bit the tip of her tongue.
She endured the discomfort in her throat, using the pain to keep herself alert.
Su Tao forced a strained smile at Chi Xiaocheng, “Chi Xiaocheng, I… I don’t like drinking this.”
“Is that so…?”
Chi Xiaocheng pulled back her bleeding hand.
She pulled out the small knife again, “Then, can I use the other hand?”
The question left her lips, but the action in her hand was not slow at all.
With a “shhhk” sound, a deep wound appeared on her right wrist.
The fresh smell of blood wafted to her, and even in the complete darkness, Su Tao knew Chi Xiaocheng had made another cut.
Then, the bleeding wrist was again offered before her.
As a flash of lightning illuminated it, this wound was even deeper than the last.
She froze, unable to act.
Then Chi Xiaocheng withdrew her hand again, her voice growing increasingly dark and despairing, “You don’t like this one either, huh… How about a different spot? Can I use my neck?”
!!!
A knife to the neck… that would be fatal, wouldn’t it?
Su Tao grew frantic, completely panicking.
She seized Chi Xiaocheng’s hand, shaking her head frantically, “Chi Xiaocheng, stop hurting yourself! I don’t need this, please don’t do this, okay?”
“Yes, first stop the bleeding, stop the blood first.”
Su Tao quickly pulled out her phone and turned on the flashlight, but when the beam fell on Chi Xiaocheng’s arm, she froze again.
Her pupils contracted sharply, and her hand trembled, dropping the phone to the ground.
The flashlight, pointing upward from the ground, illuminated Chi Xiaocheng’s left arm.
It was covered in dense, crisscrossing scars!
The pale, delicate skin looked as if it had been threaded through with needle and thread, utterly terrifying.
Horror.
Fear.
Rapid breathing.
Su Tao’s mind was once again in disarray.
Just then, her gaze met Chi Xiaocheng’s bewitching eyes once more.
She said nothing, but the small knife was raised again.
“I…”
Even though raindrops were sliding down her cheeks and onto her lips, Su Tao still felt her lips were terribly dry.
She couldn’t guess where Chi Xiaocheng’s next cut would land.
But she knew that if she didn’t stop her, Chi Xiaocheng would just keep hurting herself!
Biting the tip of her tongue hard again, Su Tao quickly clamped down on Chi Xiaocheng’s hand, her voice a little broken, “I’ll drink… I’ll drink! Chi Xiaocheng, please don’t hurt yourself, okay? I beg you.”
Chi Xiaocheng seemed not to have heard her words, showing a silly yet satisfied smile.
She offered her still-bleeding wrist.
Su Tao’s breathing grew increasingly rapid, and the hand gripping Chi Xiaocheng’s trembled slightly.
She looked up, meeting Chi Xiaocheng’s expectant eyes again.
It was as if she were urging her to hurry and drink: *If you don’t drink soon, I’ll have to make another new wound, you know.*
Su Tao gritted her teeth, tightly shut her eyes, and with trembling hands, raised Chi Xiaocheng’s small arm, pressing her thin, pink lips against it.
Gently, she took it into her mouth.
Sucking, imbibing.
The taste was still the same as before, sweet like orange juice.
But her psychological revulsion still affected her physically, making her feel somewhat nauseous.
Chi Xiaocheng watched the scene with satisfaction, a flush of excited color spreading across her face.
After tonight, surely Su Tao wouldn’t ignore her anymore, would she?
She would surely try to understand why she had become like this, and during that time, even in front of those male leads, she would definitely protect her.
That’s right, that’s exactly it!
Chi Xiaocheng no longer showed any trace of her previous sorrow or pitifulness.
She lowered her small head, bringing her nose close to Su Tao’s damp, beautiful hair, savoring its faint, clean fragrance.
Her face flushed, the corners of her lips curved upward, like a hunter watching its prey slowly step into its trap.
Finally, she had persevered and completed this third step.
Both her body and mind had reached their limits.
Perfect, she could just faint in her arms.
Tao Tao, this time, I’ve become like this because of you too.
With a “thump,” she collapsed onto Su Tao.
Pinioned by the small body, Su Tao belatedly raised her head, grasping Chi Xiaocheng’s shoulders in alarm, “Chi Xiaocheng!”
Boom—
The thunder, it boomed again.
