Chapter 35: Doesn'T Seem Like Acting
Fear, trembling. Her back was drenched in cold sweat, she didn't know when it had happened.
Liu Guijia could actually feel that the Chi Xiaocheng before her had undergone no physical change. With just a little effort, she could subdue this sickly person.
But her body simply wouldn't obey.
She couldn't move at all!
Eerie, scarlet vertical pupils. Bright red orange juice streamed down her face like a trickling brook. A small tongue licked the cold-gleaming blade, as if savoring her own taste.
I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die!
Liu Guijia's hands trembled, but she couldn't muster an ounce of strength. Her gaze darted about, trembling, searching, finally turning to the disheveled follower who was clutching her knees, seeking help.
But the scene before her made her pupils contract once more.
The follower was squatting on the ground, staring fixedly at her. Liu Guijia noticed that beneath her disheveled hair, her face was no longer gloomy.
Instead, she wore a kind of obsessed smile, her eyes shining with a light Liu Guijia had never seen before.
She won't come to help me.
Liu Guijia felt such despair.
True. After all, she was an existence just like Chi Xiaocheng. Why would she step in to help her at this moment?
“You're all the same, all just dogs!” Perhaps anger rushing to her head gave Liu Guijia back a little strength.
Gritting her teeth, she glared ferociously at Chi Xiaocheng, attempting to scare her. “If you have the guts, kill me now! Otherwise, you're dead. Not just you, but Su Tao too, that bi—”
“Ah—!!!”
She hadn't even finished speaking when a searing pain shot through her thigh.
Her threat had turned into an incitement.
Chi Xiaocheng half-squatted, half-knelt before her, a faint smile playing on her lips. “I didn't hear what you said. Could you speak a little louder?”
“The windows, they're all closed, you know~”
[Host, calm down!]
At this moment, the System couldn't help but intervene.
[If anything happens, we, as villains, will have no chance of recovery whatsoever! Not even the protagonist's halo can save us!]
“Don't worry, System.”
Chi Xiaocheng's calm voice resounded in her mind.
The System breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
[It's good that your rationality is still intact, Host. You scared the living daylights out of this System. I thought you'd lost your mind because of the protagonist, Su Tao.]
Chi Xiaocheng smiled, replying in her mind, “Why would I lose my mind? You're being ridiculous.”
“Actually, I'm personally aware that even though I transmigrated here and am bound to you, honestly, I know from the memories that the original owner isn't actually dead. I merely usurped her place.”
“Occasionally, when I act abnormally, I believe it's the lingering thoughts of the original owner influencing me.”
Her analysis was as rational as her words.
“Just like now, you think I'm impulsive because she mentioned Su Tao, but I know that's not it.”
“It's the residual thoughts of the original owner influencing me. She was bullied for three years and utterly despised this Liu Guijia.”
“Even when she was bullied, she never dared to fight back. She didn't have the courage.”
“But I'm different!”
Chi Xiaocheng's eyes gleamed intensely. “I'm not afraid of her, so the original owner's lingering thoughts are influencing me to seek revenge.”
“This is the primary reason I'm like this now. In reality, my rationality hasn't wavered one bit, nor have I been affected by Su Tao.”
While chatting with the System in her mind, her lips unconsciously spoke a sentence aloud. “After all, I told you, I'm not really a Yandere.”
[But Host, you really don't seem to be acting.]
[If the original owner still has thoughts and a soul, why didn't I, as the System, detect it?]
[I'm so scared!]
“If you could detect subconscious things, you wouldn't be so useless.”
Chi Xiaocheng replied to the System, but to Liu Guijia's eyes, she was merely talking to herself.
The fear that had already accumulated completely overflowed.
Her eyes wide, she pointed a finger at Chi Xiaocheng in horror, even ignoring the pain in her leg, whispering, “Crazy... crazy...”
What on earth was she babbling about?
“So she's already gone mad. No wonder... no wonder.......”
“Hahaha, hahahahaha!” Liu Guijia shed tears and burst into laughter. “So she's already gone mad! No wonder she's like this, no wonder... hahahahahaha......”
But in reality, who was truly mad?
Perhaps her wild laughter had carried outside, for urgent footsteps now sounded in the corridor.
Her small ear twitched.
A strange smile curled on her lips.
She yanked the knife from Liu Guijia's thigh. Her hand, stained red, patted Liu Guijia's cheek.
The sticky sensation made the laughter abruptly cease.
Chi Xiaocheng grinned. “Don't be like that. You're the bully, you know~”
The knife was placed into her hand.
Chi Xiaocheng then raised her fist, aiming it at her own face.
“Bang—!”
Her chestnut hair fanned out as she fell into the warm, vivid red.
And Liu Guijia, meanwhile, knelt before her, her hands stiffly clutching the small knife.
Her face was filled with horror.
Even the follower crouching behind her was full of doubt.
Doubting Chi Xiaocheng's actions.
Why would she do that?
The next second, her doubt was answered.
The door, which had been loosely closed, was suddenly flung open.
“Xiaocheng! What happened?!”
Su Tao was slightly breathless. As she exited the elevator, she'd heard strange laughter. At first, she thought someone was having a fit, but listening more closely, she realized it was coming from Chi Xiaocheng's suite.
And the voice, strangely familiar.
She ran without delay, and the sight that greeted her made her pupils contract.
She saw Chi Xiaocheng, her back to her, sprawled in a pool of vivid red. Directly opposite her, Liu Guijia held the small knife, her gaze flickering ominously towards them.
Further behind, there was also a girl whose hair almost covered her face, her eyes seemingly radiating worship.
Anyone who didn't understand the situation would misunderstand upon seeing this scene.
And so did Su Tao.
She clenched her fists and strode forward. “Liu Guijia, what did you do to Xiaocheng!”
Liu Guijia's eyes suddenly widened. With a clang, she threw the knife away, retreating fearfully. “I... I didn't do anything! It was all Chi Xiaocheng, she did it all!”
“Do you think I'll believe you?”
She covered the distance in a few swift strides.
“Bang—!”
With one punch, she knocked Liu Guijia over.
Then, with a pained heart, she stopped, disregarding the mess, and tried to help Chi Xiaocheng up.
But the moment she saw Chi Xiaocheng's cheek, her pupils contracted again.
Su Tao's voice was heavy with suppressed anger. “Liu Guijia, if anything happens to Xiaocheng, you...”
“Ah ah ah ah ah ah!”
Before she finished speaking, Liu Guijia clutched her head and darted towards the door as if fleeing.
“You—” Su Tao made a move to stop her, but her rationality forced her to calm down.
A faint voice drifted from beside her. “Um, shouldn't we call an ambulance first?”
It was the gloomy-faced girl.
After saying this, she followed Liu Guijia's footsteps and quickly exited the room.
Su Tao was silent. She quickly pulled out her phone. “Hello, Dongfang Yang? Can you have your doctor come over?”
“The address is... Xiaocheng's place.”
