Chapter 143 141. Coming Clean
After the movie ended, Wu Dongming—who had only come to join the fun—was the first to leave.
The roommates each returned to their own computers. Wang Sheng quickly started a new game, while Chen Junjie and Long Xing were still discussing the horror movie they had just watched.
Su Peng and Wu Dongming left the dorm one after the other, but before long, An Han caught up from behind.
“Su Peng, I need to talk to you.”
Wu Dongming, who was about to enter the neighboring dorm, glanced back at An Han and noticed the faint blush floating on her cheeks.
Why does it suddenly feel like An Han likes Su Peng? And the two of them actually look pretty compatible?
My best buddy has quietly become as pretty as the class beauty—what a pity that what he’s packing is bigger than mine…
Muttering to himself, Wu Dongming went into his dorm, while Su Peng stayed on the balcony, smiling faintly at An Han.
“What’s up?”
“Well…”
An Han regretted having left her sanitary pads with Su Peng. While doing so greatly reduced the risk of exposure, every time she had to ask him for one, she had to rack her brain for an excuse—and still couldn’t avoid the awkwardness and shame.
“You need this, right?” Su Peng said casually, pulling two sanitary pads out of his pocket.
An Han’s eyes sharpened. She quickly snatched them, stuffed them into her pocket, then suspiciously looked around.
Luckily, there were no other students in the hallway.
She let out a sigh of relief, then glared at Su Peng. “Aren’t you afraid someone might see that?!”
“Why do you look like you’re doing something illegal?”
Her angry expression froze. She turned her head away, avoiding Su Peng’s frank gaze.
Right… if I keep saying they’re shoe insoles, I should act confident and upright about it.
But… why does it feel like Su Peng knows I’m on my period?!
The excuse of using sanitary pads as shoe insoles was barely believable, yet Su Peng had accepted it without hesitation. That could be explained as him never once suspecting that a male classmate he’d known for two years could actually be female.
His earlier attempts to stop her from drinking cola could also be seen as simple concern for someone he liked—after all, sugary drinks aren’t exactly healthy.
And now, it was as if he knew what she was thinking, handing her the pads before she even said anything…
Once or twice could be chalked up to Su Peng being an idiot, or falling into some kind of mental trap. But after so many times, An Han increasingly felt that this guy knew she was a girl—and that she was on her period.
She just couldn’t figure out how she’d been exposed.
Could it be that this guy was stalking her?
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. She decided she needed to test him.
“Um… help me get two more. I’ll need them tonight.”
Large quantities of pads could only be hidden in the wardrobe, but a few pieces could easily be tucked into a pocket.
And with the weather getting cooler, jacket pockets could hold quite a lot.
“Sure.” Su Peng didn’t ask why. He turned and walked back into the dorm.
A moment later, he came out empty-handed, then pulled two more pads from the inner pocket of his jacket and handed them to An Han.
It felt like some kind of shady underground deal. An Han hurriedly moved closer, blocking any possible lines of sight with her body, and quickly took the pads and hid them.
“All good now? I’m going to take a nap,” Su Peng asked with a smile.
“……”
An Han looked at him in silence, said nothing more, and turned to walk downstairs.
He didn’t ask why I’d need so many pads in one day. That could be blamed on love making someone obedient and thoughtless—but Su Peng clearly wasn’t that kind of person.
This guy wasn’t the type to be a brainless simp in front of someone he liked.
He was the dominant, proactive, flirt-first kind!
An Han let out a soft sigh.
She could basically confirm it now—Su Peng had already discovered that she was female. No wonder he’d been getting more and more proactive with her lately. Even if his affection level had exceeded a hundred, at most he should’ve just stopped caring about her “male” identity. In today’s society, liking a man wasn’t something that required making a big fuss.
She still didn’t understand where she’d slipped up, though.
Could it be that Su Peng also had a system?
Mind reading? But the side effect of mind reading was that it could only be used after gaining mana through interacting with men.
“So why are you still following me?” An Han stopped at the bottom of the dorm building and turned back lifelessly to look at Su Peng, who had been trailing behind her. “Didn’t you say you were going to take a nap?”
Su Peng’s smile was still harmless and gentle. “I’m going to buy some snacks and drinks.”
An Han rolled her eyes at him, made no attempt to hide anything, and walked straight toward the public restroom near the dorm building—turning decisively into the women’s restroom.
If Su Peng showed no confusion about her taking sanitary pads and deliberately going to the public restroom, then her earlier suspicions would be confirmed.
While changing the pad, she realized her period seemed to be ending.
The flow this time was unusually light.
Just to be safe, she decided to keep using pads and see how things were tomorrow.
When she left the restroom, Su Peng was indeed waiting outside.
An Han deliberately lingered by the sink for a while, observing Su Peng’s expression through the mirror’s reflection.
No curiosity. No confusion. No hesitation…
She let out a heavy sigh. “How did you figure it out?”
She really couldn’t understand.
Su Peng froze for a moment, then his smile grew even gentler.
So gentle that An Han couldn’t help lifting her foot.
Ever since she’d figured out this guy’s true nature, every time she saw that harmless smile, she felt like kicking him in the face.
If I hadn’t been fooled by that smile, I’d at least still have my first kiss!
“I don’t know either.” Su Peng spread his hands. “Maybe it’s a kind of telepathy. Something in my head told me you’re a girl.”
And it had been fully confirmed by her use of sanitary pads.
An Han stared at him in confusion. “Huh?”
She’d imagined all sorts of possibilities—careful deduction, accidental discovery—but never this reason.
Could it be a new system setting?
Or some unknown effect that occurred once affection exceeded one hundred?
She tugged at the corner of her mouth, forcing a smile uglier than crying. “Fine… just don’t tell anyone.”
“I’m not stupid.”
Yeah. I am.
With everything finally out in the open, Su Peng asked the question that had been bothering him for a long time. “Why would a girl live in a male dorm?”
“And why did you develop so late? You should go to the hospital for a checkup sometime.”
“Because I only turned into a girl halfway through,” An Han replied expressionlessly.
Su Peng took it as a joke, glanced at the time, and asked, “Go to the hospital for a checkup now?”
An Han was about to refuse, but she also wanted to know what exactly the system had turned her body into.
“Don’t you need an appointment?”
“Appointments aren’t a problem. I’ve got relatives with connections at the hospital.”
“And the money…”
She was short on cash. With a monthly allowance of just two thousand, a thorough gynecological exam would probably cost several hundred.
“I’ll pay!”
