Chapter 190 188. Deliberate Revenge!

Jan 16, 2026 1,422 words

Although An Han’s concern was a bit too much for Su Peng to handle, he had to admit—when An Han did housework, she looked very virtuous.

Having eaten two meals within an hour, Su Peng’s stomach was painfully bloated. Leaning against the headboard, he watched An Han busily moving around the room. A sense of unease and guilt rose in his heart. He tried to get up to help, but was immediately pushed back down onto the bed with a palm pressing on his shoulder.

“You’re sick. Don’t move around.”

An Han wore a mask, holding a broom in her hand. She shot Su Peng an annoyed glare. “What if your condition gets worse?”

After all, according to the system’s task description, taking care of Su Peng for two days didn’t necessarily mean his illness would improve and end in two days… It might also mean he’d be completely dead and no longer need care.

Since this was option two, she had to stay vigilant. Tasks in the middle difficulty range were always unpredictable.

Realizing this, An Han became even more attentive. “Try not to get out of bed, except to use the bathroom.”

Su Peng felt like he’d been declared paralyzed.

“It’s not that serious.”

“You’re coughing like you’re about to cough your lungs out, and you say it’s not serious?”

An Han glared at him again, swept the gathered trash into the dustpan, then turned toward the computer desk.

A basin filled with water was already placed there. She threw the rag into the water and washed it with both hands submerged.

The icy tap water made her shiver. When she pulled her hands out, they were already flushed red from the cold.

She didn’t pay it any mind. As she wiped down the desk and chairs, she occasionally glanced at Su Peng, who lay restlessly on the bed. A sense of satisfaction welled up in her heart.

“I’ll make some more ginger tea later,” An Han said cheerfully.

Su Peng’s expression stiffened. “N-no need, right?”

He hated the smell of ginger. And since he hated it, of course there had to be more of it.

“Look, after you drank the ginger tea I made this morning, you’ve got much less runny nose now,” An Han said seriously, exacting her revenge. “It’s obviously effective.”

“That’s because of the medicine.”

She shook her head vigorously. “Medicine definitely isn’t as reliable as food therapy!”

Normally An Han was pretty sharp—so why did she seem so clueless now? Was this what people meant by ‘concern makes one foolish’?

Su Peng wore a bitter expression. “Just clean up and help me grab takeout.”

“That won’t do. Getting sick is mostly because of weak self-discipline causing a weak body…” An Han paused, suddenly realizing he had the flu and might’ve just been infected by someone else. She then explained forcefully, “Anyway, everything I say makes sense. Just listen.”

“……”

With a helpless sigh, Su Peng tugged the blanket aside, leaving only a small corner covering his stomach.

An Han noticed immediately. She hurriedly put down the rag, stepped forward, bent over, and pulled the blanket back over him from the side, covering him completely again, leaving only his head exposed.

As he stared at her blankly, An Han gently pressed down the gap between the blanket and his neck.

“Sweat it out and the cold will get better.”

“You could smother someone to death…”

“That won’t happen.”

Su Peng’s gaze fell on An Han’s small hands, reddened from the cold water. He was about to say something, but saw that she had already walked away smiling.

If you can’t resist, just enjoy it…

With a look of utter resignation, he lay there obediently, watching An Han tidy up the entire room and then open the window for ventilation.

An Han was a bit clumsy at housework, but her small face was taut with concentration—she was clearly taking it very seriously.

Looking again at her reddened hands, the last of Su Peng’s suspicion faded away.

How could I suspect An Han of deliberately taking revenge? That would be too heartless…

“Are you going to take a nap this afternoon?”

“Yeah, probably. Or maybe play some games?” Su Peng had been idle all morning and felt restless.

“Don’t play games. Just lie down and sleep.”

He might have a bad cold—with fever, weakness, coughing, and a runny nose—but that didn’t mean he was completely incapacitated and forbidden from even basic entertainment!

Su Peng couldn’t help protesting. “Then at least give me my phone, okay?”

“The reason you can’t sleep at night isn’t just because of the coughing. The main reason is that you keep playing on your phone! If you’re sick, rest properly—why play on your phone?”

An Han finished up and plopped down in front of Su Peng’s computer, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the thick, cool-looking laptop.

As someone who used to be male, she was particularly interested in high-spec computers.

She’d long heard that Su Peng’s computer cost over ten thousand!

“You sleep. I’ll play games!”

“You…”

“I’ll play in your room—if anything happens to you, I can rush over right away, right?” An Han had already opened Su Peng’s Steam library and exclaimed, “Holy crap! You have over a thousand games!”

“Most of them you haven’t even played! That’s such a waste!”

“What’s your account password? Let’s share libraries.”

She squealed with excitement, eagerly browsing through the wide array of games Su Peng had bought.

The dazzling list made her dizzy—Su Peng’s game library was like a treasure trove. Many games she’d wanted to play but couldn’t afford or couldn’t run on her old computer were all there.

Su Peng realized that buying her a moisturizing skincare product might have been the wrong move.

If he’d bought her a collector’s edition game instead, she probably would’ve been happier—and wouldn’t have complained about the price.

“What do you want for dinner tonight? I’m considering whether to cook.”

“Pizza.”

“I can’t make that… Let’s just order takeout.”

Su Peng let out a sigh of relief. An Han’s rock sugar stewed pears were barely edible; other dishes probably wouldn’t fare much better.

Mediocre taste would be one thing—but she’d insist on watching him finish everything…

He looked at An Han’s back. The oversized shirt-style pajamas concealed her figure, but the stark contrast between the big shirt and her slender body created an awkwardly cute impression.

Like a little girl secretly wearing her father’s clothes.

The sound of frantic keyboard and mouse clicks filled the room, accompanied by game audio from the speakers. Su Peng quietly sat up and looked toward the computer screen.

“You can actually play Dark Souls?”

“It’s famous, okay? I bought it before, but my computer couldn’t run it,” An Han said, eyes glued to the screen as she carefully maneuvered the character. “I heard Gundyr is super hard!”

The clicking grew even louder, and the game’s background sounds echoed through the room.

It gave Su Peng a headache. “So are you here to take care of me, or to disturb my rest?”

“Both!”

He lay back down weakly. The noisy sounds mixed with An Han’s occasional soft groans of frustration, and his mind gradually grew hazy.

He hadn’t slept well last night—now he was truly drowsy.

“Su Peng, Su Peng, how do you even beat Gundyr!”

“……”

Just as he was about to fall completely asleep, Su Peng was jolted awake. He coughed hard twice and lifted his head, only to see An Han turning back with a pitiful, bullied expression.

That sight made him inexplicably angry. With a fierce tone, he said, “Move aside! Let me do it!”

“Even with a cold and a fever, I can crush him one-handed!”
