Chapter 60 060. The Clown Was Me All Along
The next afternoon, the moment the teacher announced the end of class, An Han dashed out of the classroom with great excitement.
Although his plan to find a girlfriend for Su Peng might keep him safe, he couldn’t just abandon his prank with the fake cockroaches!
After all, what if Su Peng turned out to be a scumbag who couldn’t stay faithful? Just because he had a girlfriend didn’t mean An Han was completely out of danger.
Men—An Han knew exactly what they were like.
Since he’d left class early enough, there were hardly any students at the parcel pickup point yet. An Han quickly collected his package and immediately sprinted toward the dormitory building.
He absolutely had to plant those fake cockroaches before Su Peng got back!
Every time he did something mischievous like this, An Han couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement.
He ran all the way to Su Peng’s dorm room door and tried the handle—but since none of the roommates had returned yet, the door was firmly locked.
But that wasn’t a real problem.
After all, wasn’t there already a traitor within their ranks?
An Han flashed a confident grin. He’d already thought of everything. Pulling the spare key Kung Dongming had given him from his pocket, he calmly unlocked the door and stepped inside.
“It’s freezing in here,” he muttered under his breath as chilly air blasted his face. The room was pitch-dark. “You guys go to class and don’t even bother turning off the AC.”
He walked in, grabbed a small knife from Kung Dongming’s desk, sliced open the parcel, and hurried to Su Peng’s wardrobe.
The fake cockroaches felt unmistakably plastic in his hands, though their appearance was passably realistic—about 50–60% accurate. Anyone with only a mild dislike of cockroaches probably wouldn’t be scared, but for Su Peng? It’d be more than enough.
Just the sight of something even remotely resembling a cockroach would probably make him scream like a startled girl!
Chuckling mischievously, An Han opened the wardrobe and dumped half of the fifty fake bugs inside. Then he scurried over to Su Peng’s bed, crouched underneath, and started flinging handfuls upward.
“So… what exactly are you doing?”
“AHHH!” An Han instinctively shrieked, startled half to death.
The lump of blankets on the bed suddenly stirred, then Su Peng sat up, holding one of the fake cockroaches and looking utterly bewildered.
An Han froze in place, stunned speechless, eyes wide as he stared at Su Peng’s face.
“Your voice is way too shrill,” Su Peng said, rubbing his ear. “What’s this thing?”
“Uh… how come you’re in the dorm right now?”
An Han had sprinted here as fast as humanly possible after grabbing the package—logically, even if he’d been too late, he should’ve just barely missed Su Peng.
And didn’t your dorm plan to eat lunch at the cafeteria today?!
“I took the morning off—sick,” Su Peng replied, sniffing and his voice slightly hoarse.
An Han bit his lip and took a guilty step back. “Oh… I see.”
He hadn’t seen Su Peng in class that morning, but he’d assumed the guy had just stepped out briefly during the break.
Why didn’t Kung Dongming tell him this crucial intel?!
Was he deliberately setting him up to look like a fool?!
“It’s a toy?” Su Peng squinted in the dim light filtering through the curtains, examining the fake cockroach in his hand. “A cockroach?”
Because of its unmistakable plastic feel, even after seeing it clearly, Su Peng remained utterly unfazed—no trace of fear whatsoever.
“It’s… just a joke…” An Han mumbled sheepishly, turning his head away to avoid Su Peng’s gaze.
“What am I supposed to say to you?” Su Peng shook his head, half-laughing, half-exasperated. “Go turn on the light.”
“Okay…”
An Han obediently flipped the switch, then stood meekly by the door, head bowed and eyes fixed on his shoes—the picture of remorseful guilt.
Su Peng idly fiddled with the fake cockroach. “You really are capable of anything, huh?”
“Heh… hehe…” An Han gave an awkward chuckle.
“You think that’s a compliment?”
“No! Of course not!” An Han instantly wiped the smile off his face.
“So you wanted to see me freak out over cockroaches? Make a fool of myself?” Su Peng gathered the scattered fakes from his bed and placed them on his nightstand. “You’re something else.”
An Han’s face flushed crimson as he avoided eye contact. “Uh… I’ll just… go now. Rest well.”
“What’s the rush? Take your stuff with you—it’s disgusting.”
“Right!”
Even though he’d been caught red-handed, Su Peng didn’t seem angry at all.
—This was such a waste!
His favorability rating hadn’t dropped even a single point!
Had people really become this tolerant?!
An Han hurried under Su Peng’s bed and tiptoed to retrieve the remaining cockroaches, stuffing them back into the parcel box.
“And don’t forget the ones in the wardrobe.”
“Got it!”
Su Peng watched him clean up and sighed. “Yesterday you promised you’d find me a girlfriend, and today you’re pranking me. Don’t you have issues?”
“I dunno… it just seemed fun?” An Han could only offer that feeble excuse.
“Was it fun?”
“…”
“Once you’re done cleaning up, boil me some hot water and grab me some food from the cafeteria—I need to eat before taking my medicine.” Su Peng spoke with the confidence of someone used to giving orders. “Oh, and get me an ice-cold Coke while you’re at it. Also…”
“How many things do you even need?!” An Han snapped, glaring up in exasperation.
Su Peng had already climbed down from his bed. “You prank me when I’m sick? Running an errand for me is the least you can do.”
“I didn’t even know you were sick!” An Han groaned, running his hands through his hair in frustration.
It’s fine—even though this is super awkward right now, my goal is still to lower Su Peng’s好感 toward me!
No apologies! Absolutely no helping him! I should even double down—mock and tease him for being scared of cockroaches!
【Option 1: Apologize with your body. Reward: A jade stone worth one million
Option 2: Refuse to apologize. Reward: Dreamwalking skill
Option 3: Quietly run errands and apologize sincerely. Reward: Random stat point】
“Ugh…” An Han froze for a second, eyes darting over the prompt. “Fine! I’ll go!”
Why did this system always have to “pile on” exactly when things got complicated?!
And that skill it offered… seriously didn’t sound like a good thing at all!
“Hurry back.”
An Han gathered his fake cockroaches and trudged out of Su Peng’s dorm with the expression of a man walking to his doom. As soon as he stepped into the corridor, Kung Dongming appeared, beaming as he greeted him.
“Oh! I forgot to mention—Su Peng’s sick, so he didn’t go to class today. You probably noticed his absence during lecture, right?”
To An Han, those words felt like a critical hit.
He stared at Kung Dongming with mournful, betrayed eyes—like a wronged little wife.
“Wait… don’t tell me you got caught red-handed?” Kung Dongming’s eyes widened in shock. “No way! You didn’t even notice him lying in bed when you went in? Our AC was blasting the whole time!”
“You son of a—!” An Han snarled, kicking out in rage.
He missed, but immediately lunged forward. Kung Dongming took off running, shouting over his shoulder, “What?! How was I supposed to know you’re this dumb?!”
“You’re the dumb one! Your whole family’s dumb!” An Han yelled, chasing him while panting furiously.
Back before National Day, Kung Dongming had faked renting a girlfriend to scam his parents for extra living expenses—and ended up getting savagely beaten, nearly killed.
“That was your terrible idea! Of course I’m getting back at you!”
“You were the one who decided to scam your parents in the first place! If you hadn’t tried that stupid scheme, you wouldn’t have gotten beaten!”
After just a few steps, An Han was already breathless and stopped dead in his tracks. “Stand still!”
“Ha! Not a chance!”
Fuming, An Han hurled the parcel box to the ground. “Just you wait!”
