Chapter 74 074. Coincidence
“Just you alone?”
“Yeah.”
“If any friends come, have them register with me first.”
“Got it.”
An Han didn’t understand why this hotel owner assumed he’d be bringing friends—but after three encounters, the owner clearly remembered him well.
After all, the first two times, he’d checked in wearing men’s clothes and left in women’s attire…
If An Han were in the owner’s shoes, he doubted he’d be half as calm witnessing such a scene.
The owner looked to be at least in his thirties or forties, ran a hotel, and—compared to a kid like An Han—had obviously seen his fair share of oddities.
Having prepared everything inside the room, An Han now had nothing left to do but wait.
He’d brought his charger—partly to keep himself from getting too bored during the long wait.
“Just waiting for Long Ge’s message now.”
His mind kept circling back to Wang Yu’s perpetually frosty face. Imagining that cold fish becoming utterly warm and eager toward him made An Han忍不住 break into a grin.
He waited patiently in the room… until midnight finally arrived.
His phone buzzed—Long Xing had sent a message:
> “The club president drank too much and is heading back early.”
Perfect!
An Han had been slightly worried Wang Yu might return to campus with the whole group. Now, this was the absolute best-case scenario—exactly as he’d hoped.
Without hesitation, he sprang up from the bed, slipped on the system-provided chest binder, and rushed out the door, excitement bubbling inside him.
Honestly, he still didn’t fully understand how the chest binder—despite flattening his chest and technically *reducing* his feminine appeal—could somehow still exert a “charm” effect on men.
But who was he to question the system?
By now, it was past midnight. The front desk clerk was already asleep on a folding cot behind the counter. An Han peeked over cautiously, confirmed the man was truly out cold (and thus wouldn’t accidentally trigger any unwanted favorability boosts), then hurried toward the school’s back gate.
The iron fence of the campus grew nearer with every step—his heart pounding harder by the second.
Earlier, his plan had seemed foolproof… but now, doubts crept in. What if something went wrong?
This wasn’t like his old pranks—this time, he was putting *himself* on the line.
The streets were nearly empty. Beneath the dim, flickering glow of streetlights, An Han stood alone in the small plaza by the school’s back gate. He waited… but Wang Yu was nowhere to be seen.
“Could he have already gone in?”
Logically, the distance from the nearby street food stalls to the back gate was about the same as from the hotel. And An Han had even jogged part of the way!
“Maybe he hasn’t come back yet?”
“But if he’s drunk, where else would he go besides his dorm?”
“Unless… he’s checking into a hotel too?”
An Han’s face went pale.
He’d completely forgotten—the campus fence had been fully repaired! A drunk person couldn’t possibly scale it alone… just like Long Xing had been forced to do back then.
Crap!
There were dozens of small hotels around campus. Who knew which one Wang Yu might choose?
He scanned the area again—still no sign of Wang Yu. The longer he stayed, the more anxious he became.
If some other drunk student stumbled by and tried to return to campus, it could get messy.
Deflated, An Han admitted defeat. His perfect plan had fallen apart. With a sigh, he turned back toward the hotel.
“Whatever… it wasn’t exactly fair to begin with.”
“Though… it did sound kinda fun…”
He’d already paid for the room, and there was no way back into campus now. Might as well just sleep it off.
“How did I forget something so important…” he muttered, pushing open the hotel door.
And then—frozen in place—he saw Wang Yu standing right at the front desk, yawning sleepily.
“!!!”
An Han’s brain short-circuited. He stood rooted to the spot, staring dumbfounded.
“Hey, boss—wake up. Guest here.” Wang Yu didn’t seem heavily drunk—just tired. He tapped the counter lightly, but the sleeping owner didn’t stir.
Frustrated, Wang Yu scratched his head… then, out of the corner of his eye, spotted An Han standing in the doorway.
He paused. Then said casually, “What a coincidence.”
“Yeah… pretty coincidental…” An Han stammered, flustered, his hands and feet suddenly unsure what to do. “Uh… are you checking in?”
“Yeah. Drank a bit too much. Gonna crash here for the night.”
“My room’s pretty big…”
The words slipped out before he could stop himself. He instantly wanted to slap himself.
*What the hell am I saying?! I’m wearing a chest binder! Spending the night alone with Wang Yu would be handing myself over on a silver platter!*
But Wang Yu,毫不客气, replied without hesitation: “Alright. What’s the room number?”
“201.”
Now that it was out, An Han couldn’t take it back. He resigned himself to letting Wang Yu settle in first—then quickly booking another room for himself.
Anything was better than sharing a room all night.
【Wang Yu’s Favorability Toward You +10】
It’s starting!
An Han’s breath caught—then his heart began hammering wildly in his chest.
His palms grew clammy. He was already regretting his impulsiveness.
He’d imagined meeting on the street—where, even if things went sideways, he’d have room to run.
But now? They were about to be alone… in a hotel room.
“Follow me,” he said, voice tight. His focus had never been sharper. He couldn’t afford to miss a single system alert. Mentally, he tracked Wang Yu’s rising favorability—always in neat integers, easy to calculate.
【Wang Yu’s Favorability Toward You +7】
“…”
“Why are *you* here?” Wang Yu asked as they walked down the hall.
“I was out with friends—it got too late, campus was locked, so I’m staying here for the night.”
An Han led the way, stealing glances back at Wang Yu’s expression.
*If his eyes go hazy like Su Peng’s did that time—wait, he’s drunk! Of course his eyes look unfocused!*
Yet his expression remained utterly unaffected by alcohol—still that same icy, unreadable look that made An Han’s blood boil.
【Wang Yu’s Favorability Toward You +5】
They hadn’t even reached the room yet—and Wang Yu’s favorability had already climbed by 22 points!
Still too early.
An Han swiped his keycard and stepped inside first. His eyes immediately darted to the bathroom right by the door—perfect. Once favorability hit 70, he could duck in there and quickly remove the chest binder.
“Saves me a hundred bucks or so,” Wang Yu yawned, stepping in—then froze. “Wait… this is a single room. Am I sleeping on the floor?”
The carpet was soft; it wouldn’t be too uncomfortable, and in this summer heat, catching a cold wasn’t a concern.
“You take the bed,” An Han said quickly, walking to the headboard and plugging his phone into the charger. “You’ve been drinking—it’s not good to sleep on the floor.”
“Hmm.”
*At least pretend to refuse! Show a little gratitude! Why do you keep that glacier face—it’s so annoying!*
【Wang Yu’s Favorability Toward You +8】
Thirty points already!
The closer he got to the target 70, the more tense An Han became. His earlier relaxed demeanor had completely stiffened.
He opened his mouth to say something—when suddenly, the sound of shoes hitting the floor startled him.
He looked up to see Wang Yu sprawled out on the bed in a perfect starfish pose, his body bouncing slightly on the springy mattress.
Wang Yu’s eyes were shut. His breathing grew heavy—as if he might pass out any second.
Wait! How am I supposed to gain favorability if you fall asleep?!
An Han’s eyes narrowed. Without thinking, he grabbed Wang Yu’s arm and yanked him upright. “Go wash your face! Take a shower!”
“Why so fussy about a hotel stay…”
“Hurry up! *I’m* paying for this room!”
Wang Yu finally opened his eyes, frowning slightly as he looked up at An Han’s face hovering above him.
For some reason, Wang Yu thought An Han looked unusually… beautiful tonight.
That face—usually so boyish and at odds with his taste—now seemed oddly captivating.
He kept unconsciously seeing An Han as a girl. Every movement radiated feminine charm. Even An Han’s neutral voice sounded… strangely alluring.
“Fine… I’ll freshen up…”
