Chapter 65 065. Wang Yu
“PS5… limited edition… this time it shouldn’t be a scam, right?”
“After all, it’s just a gaming console—what tricks could the system possibly pull?”
People who don’t play games might not understand just how coveted the PS5 is among gamers—especially since its release, it’s been perpetually sold out and marked up to high prices.
An Han had once considered saving up to buy one, but snagging a PS5 at retail price required pre-orders and luck with restocks, and for a student, the cost was simply too steep.
He suddenly snapped out of it, slapping his fair, slightly flushed cheeks and shaking his head vigorously. “No, no, no—I’m doing this for Wang Sheng’s dream!”
“It’s absolutely not for my own selfish reasons!”
“Good news—someone messaged me privately after seeing the recruitment post I put up at school!” Chen Junjie suddenly turned around and called out to the group. “Says they want to join our team for a match.”
“What rank are they?” Wang Sheng, the most eager of them all, immediately asked.
“Said something like ‘AK’?”
“That’s not bad—better than most people. Get him over here! If we don’t find anyone better, we’ll go with him!”
Ever since they started helping Wang Sheng find teammates, his personality had instantly shifted. Compared to his usual quiet self, he was now so excited he could talk nonstop all day.
But none of them—An Han included—really knew much about CS:GO.
“The problem is, none of the nearby internet cafes host tournaments,” Long Xing said, rubbing his temples in frustration. “The game’s kind of niche here in China.”
“There’s a college league in October, but it’s in another city. The travel and lodging costs would be too much for us, and registration’s already closed anyway.”
Last night’s drunken bravado had completely evaporated. After a moment of silence, Long Xing suddenly turned to An Han.
“Oh right—Xiao Han, when are you going to talk to the club president?”
An Han’s face instantly fell. Muttering to himself, he stood up. “Guess I’ll go now…”
He didn’t exactly hate Wang Yu—he was just… a little afraid of him.
“He should be in his dorm or at the club right now.”
“Got it.”
With a half-hearted wave, An Han left the dorm, looking thoroughly dejected.
Wang Yu was also a third-year student, but from a different major, so he lived on the fifth floor of the dormitory.
An Han actually thought quite highly of the Fitness Club president—but the guy was always stone-faced and aloof, constantly dragging him to club workouts. That’s why An Han had grown a bit wary of him.
He knew this visit would inevitably end with him getting hauled off to train again.
He sighed mournfully, already thinking about quitting the Fitness Club.
But… yesterday, when they ran into each other, Wang Yu didn’t seem to recognize him at all.
That suddenly lifted An Han’s spirits.
If Wang Yu couldn’t tell who he was now… maybe he could reinvent himself?
How about posing as a girl—Wang Sheng’s classmate and a fellow esports enthusiast?
As he climbed the stairs, An Han began crafting his new persona.
A shy personality would work best—quiet and reserved, fewer chances of slipping up.
The only issue was he’d eventually get exposed… but by then, Wang Sheng’s tournament would probably be long over.
At worst, he’d suffer some social embarrassment—but Wang Yu’s social circle barely overlapped with his own, except for Long Xing. And Long Xing had already fallen for his cross-dressing act before; he’d likely find this whole “pretend to be a girl” stunt totally unsurprising.
Reaching Wang Yu’s dorm room, An Han steeled himself and gently knocked on the door.
“Who is it?”
“Um… I’m Long Xing’s friend. Here to see Wang Yu.” An Han adopted a soft, girlish tone—perfect for his carefully constructed persona.
“A girl?”
The door opened. A chubby guy in a white tank top peeked out. “Looking for Wang Yu? He’s in the shower.”
“Should I wait outside, then?”
Now fully committed to the role, An Han dropped all his usual restraint. His system-granted cute, delicate posture shone through effortlessly. With his naturally androgynous features and graceful demeanor, it was nearly impossible to tell he wasn’t a girl.
“Just come in and sit,” the roommate said warmly, stepping aside.
He even went to the balcony and shouted toward the bathroom: “Wang Yu! Some girl’s here to see you!”
But as he turned back inside, a thought struck him: “Wait… how did a girl get into the boys’ dorm?”
Normally, girls could only visit on weekends or holidays when dorm rules were relaxed. It was lunchtime on a weekday—the dorm supervisor was wide awake and vigilant. There was no way she could’ve snuck in.
He looked at An Han again, a strange suspicion creeping into his mind—could this “girl” actually be a guy?
But everything—from the silhouette to the face—looked convincingly feminine. At most, the short hair gave a slightly tomboyish vibe.
Moments later, Wang Yu emerged from the bathroom, bare-chested. His eyes immediately landed on An Han sitting at his desk, and his brow furrowed slightly.
That girl from the stairs yesterday… the one who looked just like An Han?
An Han quickly stood up, casting an envious glance at Wang Yu’s abs before cutting straight to the point: “Um… Long Ge sent me.”
“Huh?”
“He said you play CS:GO. He wants to form a temporary team for a match.”
“Not interested.”
Wang Yu noticed the girl’s strange gaze and immediately pulled a T-shirt from his closet to cover up.
“Wait, hear me out a bit more before deciding!” An Han hurried over.
“Not interested.” Wang Yu glanced at the girl standing so close, then paused—his eyes scanning her clothing, hairstyle, and uncannily familiar face. He asked cautiously, “An Han?”
“Huh?”
Seeing his reaction, Wang Yu instantly understood. Expressionless, he walked past him. “Be at the club after class tonight.”
“…”
He’d been recognized that fast?!
Heat surged to An Han’s cheeks—a wave of shame crashing over him at being so easily seen through.
He quickly dropped all his feminine mannerisms, putting on a shameless, ingratiating smile as he scurried after Wang Yu in tiny, eager steps. “President~”
“You were the one who asked me to keep you accountable.”
“I’m talking about the match! If you agree to play, I’ll come work out—deal?”
Wang Yu snorted. “If you don’t care about your own responsibilities, why should I?”
Ugh! Why was this guy so stubborn?!
And that ever-frosty expression—how was An Han supposed to read what he was thinking?
This was impossible.
[Wang Yu’s affection toward you: -3]
Seriously…
For the first time, An Han actually wished someone liked him more.
If it were Su Peng, he’d agree to anything An Han asked. But Wang Yu’s affection was already plummeting into single digits!
He needed a new tactic… maybe… act cute?
Thanks to the system’s endless “encouragement,” An Han had long since learned to push past his shame threshold.
“President~” he pleaded in an extra-sweet, cutesy voice, “This really matters! My roommate just wants to play a real match—it’s his dream…”
[Wang Yu’s affection toward you: -2]
Are you kidding me?! It’s already in the single digits!
An Han’s expression darkened. Ever since getting the system, he’d never failed when it came to charming guys—until now.
This guy! He must be thinking I’m too girly—that’s why his affection’s dropping so fast!
“Just leave. I said I’m not interested. Someone else’s dream has nothing to do with me.”
“…”
He was right. After all, Wang Yu didn’t even know Wang Sheng.
Dejected, An Han slunk out of the room—but just as he was about to shut the door, he stuck his head back in one last time. “President, please think it over?”
“…”
Wang Yu didn’t even bother responding.
