Chapter 343 340. GKD

Apr 04, 2026 1,525 words

An Han found it hard to say she had much feeling for her father. After all, she only saw him during the New Year when she went home, and the two of them had never really communicated much.

Most of the impressions her father left on her were of authority and seriousness. He rarely smiled and always looked stern and proper. Yet he had never beaten or scolded her or her younger sister—at most he would just reprimand them.

But this year her father seemed very different.

He was starting to show signs of becoming a bit of a daughter-con, displaying a strong desire to control An Han. Beneath that stern exterior was also the heart of someone clearly afraid of his wife.

Before her father came back, An Han had even thought the misunderstanding and arguments between her parents would spiral out of control and eventually lead to divorce… but unexpectedly, even though they couldn’t meet for long periods of time, once they did meet they behaved as if they were on a honeymoon. After a few days of noisy quarrels, their relationship returned to harmony again.

Being alone with her father was also far more comfortable than she had imagined—as long as Su Peng wasn’t mentioned…

An Han could clearly feel that the distance between her and her father had grown closer. Or rather, her favorability toward him had risen a tiny bit.

Early the next morning, An Han was woken up by noises in the living room.

She groggily opened her eyes, her vision still slightly blurry as she stared at the ceiling. At the same time she subconsciously reached out to hug the person beside her.

But she hugged nothing.

In the middle of winter, the bed suddenly missing a “heater” made her feel a little unaccustomed.

“Dad, what are you doing? Why are you making so much noise?”

She shouted loudly, turning to glance at the time on her phone.

“It’s only six-thirty!”

“I’m going to the airport.”

“Huh?”

An Han instantly woke up. She rolled off the bed and hurriedly opened the bedroom door barefoot.

Peeking outside, she saw that her father’s two large suitcases had already been moved from the guest bedroom to beside the shoe cabinet, clearly ready to leave at any moment.

Her father had bought breakfast. The sounds that woke her earlier were from him going in and out while opening and closing doors.

“Perfect timing. Let’s have breakfast together.”

He pointed to the milk and pastries on the coffee table and complained,

“This place is so close to our hometown, yet they don’t even have guo bian here.”

An Han couldn’t be bothered to put on shoes. The icy floor made her feet cold, so she quickly hopped onto the sofa, sitting cross-legged while grabbing breakfast from the table.

Her father had slept in Su Peng’s spare bedroom last night. He looked like he hadn’t slept well—his eyes lacked energy.

“Dad, what time’s your flight?”

“Ten.”

“But it’s only six-thirty…” she muttered, taking a bite of bread and holding it in her mouth before drinking some milk.

She let the milk soak into the bread before swallowing it, then continued,

“Do you want Su Peng to drive us?”

“Didn’t he fight with his parents and run out of money?” Her father’s eyes lit up. “No need for him to drive. I can drive myself. Just have him give me the car key.”

“… ”

Only then did her father grow curious and ask,

“So why did he fight with his family?”

“His family wanted him to study abroad…”

“Figures. If he goes abroad, what will you do?” Her father interrupted, shaking his head. “Once he goes overseas, who knows what he’ll turn into when he comes back.”

He had spent many years abroad himself and had seen countless students fall into depravity there.

An Han silently rolled her eyes.

“He’s the one who didn’t want to go, that’s why they fought.”

“Well… at least he has some conscience.”

Her father reluctantly praised Su Peng.

“Right now Su Peng isn’t in contact with his family anymore. He doesn’t get any allowance at all. But he delivers food in the school cafeteria and gets meals included. A few days ago he even received a scholarship, so he won’t starve.”

Her father looked at her suspiciously, sizing her up before speaking.

“He can get a scholarship?”

“He’s top three in his class, okay?”

After a pause, An Han lifted her head. Her delicate little face showed a pitiful expression.

“Dad~”

“…”

“I only have a few hundred yuan left. I might not make it until next month when you send my allowance.”

Her father lowered his head to eat breakfast with a look that said I knew it, ignoring her.

An Han frowned and secretly confirmed with the system that her father’s favorability toward her was still above ninety points. Only then did she feel relieved.

Looks like the effort wasn’t strong enough!

If she acted spoiled—crying, making a fuss, even threatening suicide—she could definitely get extra allowance… but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.

She had never acted spoiled toward any man in her life except Su Peng!

“Alright, I’m leaving.”

Her father stood up, preparing to head to the airport.

“Wait for me.” An Han hurriedly put down her milk and bread, jogging after him in small steps. “I need to change clothes and brush my hair…”

“Go back to sleep. If you go, that brat will follow too, and seeing him will just annoy me.”

“Why would he go?”

“I wouldn’t feel safe with you coming back alone.”

Her father put on his windbreaker from the coat rack, placed a black hat on his head, and opened the door.

Dragging his two suitcases, he was about to leave when he suddenly turned back to remind her,

“If Su Peng bullies you, call me.”

“I don’t even know your overseas phone number…”

“WeChat call works too.”

“Mm.”

Her father stepped across the threshold, then turned back yet again.

“Take care of yourself. Value your body. Girls tend to suffer losses in relationships.”

“I know that…”

She treasured her body very much, okay! She never even let Su Peng touch her!

Her father carried one suitcase outside, then turned back once again.

“Don’t believe those sweet words men say. They sound nice, but you need to look at their long-term behavior.”

“I used to be a man, you know…”

An Han nodded helplessly.

“That’s exactly why you’re too unguarded around men.” Her father glared at her. “It didn’t take long before you got hooked.”

No! That’s the system’s fault!

If she couldn’t smell Su Peng’s hormones, there was no way she’d like a man.

Yuri is way better!

She refuted her father silently in her heart, though even she didn’t quite believe that excuse.

When her father finally stepped out the door, An Han predicted in advance,

“Dad, if you don’t leave now, you’ll keep chatting with me until eight.”

Sure enough, her father turned around again in surprise, looking at her awkwardly before dragging his suitcase downstairs while muttering,

“Forget it. We can talk on WeChat.”

Watching him leave, An Han glanced down at the pajamas she was wearing and scratched her messy hair.

Seeing her father walk out of the building, she suddenly slammed the door shut and excitedly ran into the bedroom.

“Su Peng! Su Peng!”

She immediately sent him a message on her phone.

Su Peng replied as quickly as always.

“What’s up? I just woke up.”

“My dad left!”

“So I can come back now?” Su Peng sent a happy emoji.

While typing, An Han quickly changed out of her pajamas.

“No. Go rent a car. We’re leaving right now.”

“My dad’s about to leave and I haven’t pranked him even once. That’s such a loss!”

She could already imagine the shocked, startled, and touched expression on her father’s face when he saw her at the airport.

Just thinking about it was amusing! Maybe, if she exaggerated it a bit, her father might even cry because he couldn’t bear to part with her?

“He’ll probably take the airport shuttle bus. We can make it in time.”

Su Peng was still a bit confused, but quickly understood her plan.

“He didn’t ask you to send him off?”

“If he didn’t ask, does that mean I can’t go?”

“Hurry up!”
