Chapter 147 145. Chen Junjie [6/12]

Jan 07, 2026 1,486 words

An Han’s school was located in the university district.
Although the university district was quite remote compared to the rest of the city, because it gathered a large number of students, there were plenty of rental rooms available.

After evening classes, she went outside the campus alone, looking for utility poles or walls plastered with rental notices.
The biggest convenience of renting here was that there was no need to worry about being scammed by agents—rental ads were everywhere. But precisely because of that, renting here was not very formal.

Full of anticipation, An Han contacted several landlords and looked at a few rooms, then returned to the dormitory in low spirits.

“Where did you go?”
As soon as she entered, Long Xing asked curiously.

He hesitated a little. Because of the guilt of liking a male, he hadn’t dared to have too much contact with An Han lately, yet he still couldn’t help wanting to know more about her.

“Just went out for a walk,” An Han said, sitting down dejectedly on Wang Sheng’s bed.

Wang Sheng’s eyelid twitched. His mouth opened, then closed again.

“You’ve had quite a lot of secrets lately,” Chen Junjie leaned over. “Don’t tell me you went out in women’s clothes again?”

“What do you mean ‘again’?” An Han, who had been in a bad mood, instantly perked up and retorted righteously. “I’ve never cross-dressed in my entire life!”

“Hey, why are you getting worked up?”

“Worked up my ass! Where am I worked up?!”

She kicked out sharply. Chen Junjie dodged to the side, grinning obnoxiously.

An Han had no idea how someone like this had managed to survive into adulthood.

Seeing him back off, she lay straight down on Wang Sheng’s bed, starting to ponder how she could make money.

Her living allowance was two thousand. As long as she didn’t have a girlfriend or spend money on games, it was more than enough. But if she rented a place outside campus, that amount was nowhere near sufficient.

Even the worst rentals outside campus cost at least five hundred a month. Add in commercial water and electricity, and seven or eight hundred a month was normal. The remaining thousand or so would barely cover food, phone bills, and internet.

“If I spend money like this, I won’t save anything at all. I’ll be living hand to mouth…” she muttered softly.

Not to mention the first month’s deposit—rent plus deposit together was something she simply couldn’t afford.

And those rentals were way too shabby!
So shabby that basic safety couldn’t be guaranteed—the doors were so thin they looked like cardboard, probably kickable open with a single strike.

Although when Ren Chi said he wouldn’t allow her to live outside for safety reasons, she always acted indifferent, in reality, as someone who used to be a man, she knew very well how attractive her appearance was to men, so she was especially cautious about her own safety.

Even if society today could guarantee basic safety… what if?

Borrow money from Su Peng?

Naturally, Su Peng was the first person she thought of.

She immediately sat up, subconsciously about to head to the neighboring dorm to find Su Peng, but after standing up, she hesitated again.

Since when could I borrow money from someone so confidently?

It was the influence of favorability again!

Even when she was extremely short on money, An Han rarely liked borrowing from friends. She disliked the feeling of owing people money so much that she wouldn’t even use Huabei.
Besides, she already owed Su Peng enough. Just the weekend physical checkup alone must have cost him a lot.

If she kept owing more, she might end up paying herself in return.

She sat back down and asked Long Xing, “Brother Long, if I borrowed money from Su Peng, he wouldn’t mind, right?”

“Huh? You’re short on money?”

“I want to rent a place outside…”

Only then did Long Xing remember that An Han had mentioned this before. He scratched his head and asked, “Can’t you just stay in the dorm?”

“Chen Junjie is a bastard who bullies me every day. I can’t take it anymore.”

Chen Junjie immediately jumped up. “What the hell does that have to do with me?! Aren’t you the one bullying me every day? What are you whining about?!”

An Han turned her head away and ignored his defense.

In truth, they bullied each other, though most of the time Chen Junjie was the one picking fights.

“Junjie! Can’t you stop provoking Xiao Han?” Long Xing frowned and interrupted him, his attitude clearly favoring An Han.

“Isn’t she the one provoking me?!”

Long Xing couldn’t be bothered to mediate anymore—or rather, there was no way to mediate between these two at all.

He turned to An Han. “Have you settled things with the counselor?”

“Mostly. Just short on money…”

“I see.” Long Xing’s mood suddenly dropped a little.

Chen Junjie was also dissatisfied. “No, seriously, you’re graduating in another year. Why move out?”

“I’m moving out. What are you gonna do about it?” An Han shot back provocatively.

“Damn you!”

The two started bickering again. The dormitory was filled with ‘sweet talk,’ warm and harmonious.

Long Xing’s head hurt from listening. He rubbed his temples and silently put on his headphones, playing music to block out their arguing.

After several years, he was used to it.

“Um, let’s pause for a moment.” Wang Sheng, who hadn’t spoken until now, finally interrupted the noise. He said to An Han, “The competition starts next week.”

An Han froze, then looked up at Wang Sheng. “Competition? What competition?”

“The esports competition.” Wang Sheng kept his eyes on the screen, unwilling to look at An Han, who was messing up his bed.

“Oh~ I almost forgot about that.”

That was still a task—the reward was a limited-edition PS5…

If she completed the task and sold the PS5, the rent money would be solved.

An Han’s eyes lit up. She immediately found a way that didn’t require borrowing money from Su Peng.

“Is there CS:GO?” she asked excitedly as she stood up.

“It seems the only thing missing is sponsorship money.”

“Then that’s basically saying nothing. Can’t you switch games? Experiencing a tournament doesn’t mean it has to be CS:GO, right? What about Peacekeeper Elite?”

Wang Sheng fell silent at once, an image appearing in his mind of himself rubbing a phone screen on a competition stage.

“Games are games,” An Han said more softly, sighing. “Doesn’t that still mean we need to find sponsorship?”

That Wang Yu really wasn’t cutting it! Clearly the president of the esports club, had organized plenty of competitions, yet couldn’t even secure a sponsor!
I even trusted him enough to leave this to him!

An Han imagined Wang Yu wearing a sour expression while negotiating money with sponsors.

No wonder it wouldn’t succeed—unless the club had someone specifically in charge of sponsorship.

“I’ll go ask Wang Yu about the specifics,” An Han sighed. She really didn’t want to face Wang Yu’s sour face.

Even after using the side effects of the binder to raise Wang Yu’s favorability toward her to a best-friend level, Wang Yu still didn’t give her a pleasant look.

With a headache, she walked out of the dorm. Just as she reached the corridor, she saw Chen Junjie following her out.

An Han immediately became alert, sizing him up from head to toe. “Why are you following me? Looking for trouble?”

Chen Junjie closed the door, lit a cigarette, stood a bit awkwardly, and avoided meeting An Han’s eyes. “No…”

Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for me too?!

Seeing his behavior, alarm bells rang loudly in An Han’s mind. Her heart raced as she hurriedly checked his favorability with the system, but there was nothing abnormal.

Wait—liking someone doesn’t necessarily mean the favorability has to be over eighty, right?

“I was wrong, okay?” Chen Junjie turned his head away, acting all nonchalant. “I won’t mess with you anymore. Why do you have to move out? Just stay.”

As soon as the words fell, An Han rarely noticed the awkwardness and flush on his face.

This guy—he’s actually apologizing to me?!

Have you been possessed by a ghost or something?!
