Chapter 178 176. Celebration Banquet
“Not bad at all!”
“Is the girl is pretty or not? Have you seen her photos yet?”
“Show us the chat history! We’ll help you analyze it!”
Several people immediately crowded around Wang Sheng, hooking arms around his neck and shoulders so he couldn’t escape. Every face was filled with surprise and delight.
Wang Sheng was usually timid, introverted, and withdrawn. He only became talkative and confident when gaming. They had thought that with his personality, romance was basically impossible unless he changed—but who would’ve thought he actually had some skill flirting with girls online?
An Han excitedly leaned in to join the fun, her face full of mischievous delight. “Yo~ you’re blushing! What’s there to be shy about?”
“No, we’re really just chatting casually… Junjie! Give my phone back!”
Wang Sheng tried his best to defend himself while reaching out to grab the phone, but Long Xing pinned him in place with his muscular arm, and An Han hugged his arm as well, leaving him no room to resist.
“Let me see!” Chen Junjie snatched the phone and ran off to a distance, swiping rapidly with his fingers. After a while, under everyone’s expectant gazes, he laughed and said, “Just chatting casually? You’ve only been friends for a few hours and the chat history is already so long you can’t scroll to the top!”
“Oh~” Long Xing and An Han grew even more excited.
“She’s got selfies on her Moments—pretty cute!”
“Whoa!”
“She plays CSGO too! You’ve got a great chance! After just two hours of chatting, you’ve already agreed to meet up tomorrow!”
“Nice!”
An Han slapped Wang Sheng on the shoulder. “Don’t chicken out when you meet offline! Want to bring Brother Long along as backup? Run some support?”
“No! We just agreed to go to an internet café to play games together!” Wang Sheng’s face was red as pig liver. “Give my phone back!”
“Wang Sheng, shouldn’t you go buy a couple of outfits later?” Long Xing sized him up from head to toe. “You’ve been wearing those clothes for years, right? And your hair—go wash it and get it styled before tomorrow.”
Chen Junjie grinned and placed the phone back on Wang Sheng’s desk. “I’ll go buy clothes with you later. Your taste sucks.”
“Buy what clothes? We’re really just going to play games.”
“Exactly! Play a couple of rounds first, then leave the internet café and go on a date—no conflict there.”
They continued joking and teasing Wang Sheng, while An Han had already deftly snatched the freshly served grilled lamb chops.
Watching her roommates fool around, she gnawed on a lamb chop and turned her head toward Su Peng on the other side. “Doesn’t it feel like you’re not really part of the group?”
Su Peng smiled gently. “I’m just here to freeload a meal.”
And to make sure you don’t drink alcohol.
An Han shifted her gaze back to her roommates and muttered softly, “This is really nice.”
“Don’t want to leave?”
“A little…”
She tilted her head back and finished her cola in one go, then grabbed another lamb chop and ate as she spoke. “Living in the dorm is still better. Even if we argue a lot and complain about each other.”
When she imagined living alone in the future, going to and from classes by herself, the scene of everyone joking around in front of her made her feel even more sentimental.
“How about I move out with you?” Su Peng asked tentatively.
“Heh, the video you just showed me said to beware of crimes committed by acquaintances.”
Even without that video, An Han was particularly wary of Su Peng.
But now she was also wary of her roommates. One major reason she’d been unwilling to live in the dorm was fear of a social death if her identity were exposed, but now she also worried that her roommates might develop improper intentions.
Even after living together for two years, who knew what they were really thinking… Distrusting her roommates made An Han feel a bit guilty, but after being a man for twenty years, she knew the darkness in men’s hearts.
It was better to live outside and keep some distance.
“An Han! You damn thief—you ate two lamb chops!” Chen Junjie finally realized it, pointing furiously at the bone she’d gnawed clean on her table. “There were only five in total! Do you know how expensive they are?!”
“How is that stealing! I ate them fair and square!” An Han retorted shamelessly. “I was afraid they’d get cold and taste bad!”
“Even if they get cold, you can’t eat extra!”
After teasing Wang Sheng enough, Chen Junjie and Long Xing returned to their seats and quickly reached out to snatch the remaining three lamb chops.
Su Peng didn’t make a move, treating his share as if it had been eaten by his wife.
“Hey, Xiao Han, do you have enough money to move out right now?” Long Xing asked An Han after downing half a bottle of beer. “If not, I can figure out a way to help you borrow some.”
After learning that An Han was female, he had become eager for her to move out of the dorm as well.
It would be better for everyone.
“You bastard—if you move out, your bed is mine!” Chen Junjie cursed. “Damn it, you fought me for the top bunk back then, and now you want to move out? Is something wrong with your head?”
An Han could only sigh helplessly. “I don’t have enough money…”
“Still not enough?” Su Peng froze.
Taking advantage of the moment, An Han tried to reach for some alcohol, but Long Xing reacted instantly and shoved a bottle of cola into her hands.
“Tch!” She drank the cola unhappily, calculating in her head.
After making up for the money spent on underwear, the few hundred yuan she had left still wasn’t enough to rent a place.
She had checked nearby rentals—most were over four hundred yuan a month. With one month’s rent as deposit and one month prepaid, she’d need at least eight hundred yuan upfront.
That didn’t even include daily necessities for the new place, which would cost at least another one or two hundred.
“If I eat a bit less this month, renting should be doable.”
An Han sighed. She really didn’t want to cut down on her food budget.
Is my system really this stingy?
Based on the reward from Task Two before, this cash reward clearly didn’t make much sense.
The reward was too little, and the task seemed too easy.
It was just being hugged by Su Peng—if possible, letting him hug her a few more times would actually be better…
An Han immediately cut off the thought and shook her head.
Craving a man’s embrace—thinking like that was way too gay!
“Go check out apartments after the barbecue?”
“Tomorrow morning. Landlords might not be free at night.” An Han yawned; she was also a bit sleepy.
She glanced over everyone at the table, imprinting each person’s behavior in her mind.
Chen Junjie, who usually clashed with her the most, was the most dissatisfied with her plan to live outside, grumbling curses nonstop. Long Xing and Wang Sheng didn’t seem to care much, and the latter was still chatting on his phone.
“I’m full. Brother Long, give me the keys—I’ll head back first.”
“You’re really not fitting in anymore, are you?” Chen Junjie immediately shot back. “This is Wang Sheng’s celebration banquet, you know? Leaving halfway through?”
Long Xing seemed to understand An Han’s plan to return to the dorm and took out the keys to hand to her.
Obviously, she was going back to deal with the underwear still soaking in the bucket.
“Then I’m heading off!”
An Han took the keys and reminded them with some concern, “Don’t let Brother Long drink too much.”
“Get lost, get lost!” Chen Junjie waved impatiently.
