Chapter 232 229. Strange Son
In An Han’s memory, her father had never shown emotions like anger or irritation toward her. As a father, he had never given her a sense of authority or intimidation.
That was probably why her younger sister liked their father so much—after all, she was always causing trouble and constantly getting scolded by their mother.
Her father cared a lot about appearances. Every time he came home, he would dress up, and at gatherings with friends and relatives, he would always compete to spend the most money, deliberately showing off as a wealthy man. This had caused arguments between him and her mother.
The atmosphere at the dining table seemed decent. Her father was recounting his experiences abroad, his face kind and his smile gentle. Her sister listened curiously, asking questions, while her mother ate silently, expressionless.
The two of them had been arguing for half a year. The argument began when her mother overheard a woman’s voice during a phone call with her father.
An Han didn’t comment on their relationship issues. Her mind was full of worries about how to subtly make her father accept her gender.
With a mouthful of food, she glanced at the older man with the corner of her eye.
【Father’s favorability +5】
Her mood was a mix of nervousness and excitement. Nervous because she worried that if his favorability got too high and his thoughts weren’t proper, it could lead to a change in their relationship—turning into a truly problematic situation. Excited because of the laptop her father had bought for her; she wanted to quickly finish eating to check its specs.
“Dad, how much did that laptop cost?”
“1,000 pounds. You always said that laptop lagged when doing homework, right?” Her father smiled, and the corners of his eyes formed noticeable crow’s feet, making him look especially gentle and kind.
In reality, it only lagged while gaming… Previously, she had bought Dark Souls III on sale, but it lagged so much she couldn’t play it and had to refund it. After experiencing the game at Su Peng’s place, she lost interest in buying it again.
“That’s expensive~”
Her father raised his eyebrows slightly at the way An Han’s tone had a subtle, cute lilt. How could his normally straightforward son speak in such a strange, sweet way?
“Brother~” her sister suddenly poked her head over and whispered, “Your voice changed, didn’t it?”
“Don’t talk nonsense.” An Han glared at her.
Her father relaxed his brow and smiled, watching his daughters whispering to each other, but his gaze couldn’t help flicking to An Han.
For some reason, his son seemed a little… off. Not only was his tone unusually playful and cute, but his face also looked a bit refined, his hair slightly longer—making him resemble a girl.
He asked softly, “An Han, isn’t your hair a bit long? Cut it before the New Year?”
“No, I want to grow it out a bit to get it permed.”
Her father nodded in agreement. “Your hair is too soft. A styled perm would look good.”
He didn’t question it further, but suddenly saw An Han put down her chopsticks, pick up a tissue, and elegantly dab at her mouth. His eyelids twitched involuntarily.
“I’m done eating!” An Han couldn’t hold it in any longer, hurriedly stood up, grabbed her laptop, and ran upstairs.
Watching her slender back and the gentle sway of her small hips, her father’s eyelids twitched even more.
“Has An Han become a little girly?” he wondered.
Her mother had also finished eating and replied, “Isn’t that fine?”
“Fine?” Her father looked puzzled. “A boy being too girly—how will he get a girlfriend later?”
Her mother silently rolled her eyes, putting An Han’s dishes into the sink.
“By the way, I’m planning to set An Han up on a blind date.”
“......” Her mother was dumbfounded. “Huh?”
“He’s twenty-two now, turning twenty-three after the New Year. He hasn’t even dated anyone. Don’t you think that’s a bit much?”
Her father shook his head, sighing. “If this continues, he won’t even be holding a girl’s hand by thirty. It’s better to arrange it early. A blind date doesn’t mean marriage—it’s just to meet more girls and learn how to interact with them.”
“This trip back, I also plan to buy him a house. Where do you think would be best?”
Her sister interrupted, “I hold hands with Brother every day~”
Both parents glanced at her but ignored her words.
Back in her room, unaware that she had been arranged for another blind date, An Han locked the door, quickly took off her top, shivered, and removed the chest binder, tossing it aside.
“I was suffocating!”
The system-given binder also made her chest tight and uncomfortable. She rubbed the marks left under her arms and quickly put on a sweater.
“Favorability is already at seventy-one.” An Han sat at her desk holding her laptop bag, muttering to herself. “It’s approaching a dangerous level.”
The binder’s side effects weren’t very effective on her father. For other men, just twenty minutes of interaction could raise favorability by thirty or forty points, but with her father, it only went up fifteen.
“Better not have any accidents.”
She sighed but quickly opened her laptop bag with anticipation.
She didn’t recognize the brand, but after checking the specs and running a benchmark, she was satisfied. A 3070 GPU—domestically it would cost over eight thousand yuan, so spending 1,000 pounds wasn’t bad.
Suddenly, the door made a “bang” sound, startling An Han. She shivered and reached for the binder.
“Brother! Open the door~”
She exhaled in relief, walked to the bedroom door, and complained, “Stop being so noisy all the time.”
“Dad wants to know if you want to go out for a walk!”
“He’s energetic… No, I’ll take a shower and sleep.”
She opened the door, glaring at her sister.
Her sister sheepishly looked up, then froze. “Brother, why do you sometimes look big and sometimes small?”
“Go away!”
“I’m coming back to sleep tonight, don’t lock the door~”
“I know.”
An Han had no intention of sleeping early; this was just a pretext her sister gave their father.
Her mother had been lenient lately, so she wouldn’t sleep until at least midnight, and her biological clock was slightly off.
Speaking of which, her parents were arguing—would they still sleep in the same room tonight? Surely one of them wouldn’t come to her room?
An Han watched her sister run downstairs, close the door, and yawned, sitting at the foot of the bed.
Although the gift of a laptop increased her favorability toward her father, it didn’t lessen her caution.
“Mind-reading requires accumulated male hormones to use. Unless you’ve been living in a male dorm every day, you can only use it once in the short term.”
“It must be used when a guaranteed success is possible.”
She had considered using it at the dining table earlier but worried that using mind-reading without preparation might shock her father’s heart. She decided to wait until favorability was maxed.
