Chapter 172 170. Su Peng’s Embrace
An Han’s body was pressed against the wall. Her head instinctively tilted back and knocked against it, but she couldn’t spare any attention for the pain at the back of her head. She shut her eyes, putting herself fully on guard for Su Peng’s next move.
Su Peng leaned close to her ear. His voice was hoarse and low, and as he spoke, his moist breath brushed against her earlobe, making her already faintly flushed ears look even more vivid and alluring.
“Say it. I’m here.”
The itching warmth at her ear made her uncomfortable. Su Peng’s words, combined with the warmth enveloping her entire body, stirred a deep sense of security in her heart, which had long felt empty. Her heart nearly melted, and she almost instinctively wanted to explain the existence of the system to him.
But she restrained the impulse. Swallowing, she fluttered her trembling lashes and opened her eyes, turning her head slightly to look at Su Peng, whose cheek was almost pressed against hers.
It was her first time observing another man from such close range.
Su Peng’s skin was fairly smooth, with hardly any conspicuous pores. Compared to most men, his jawline was softer, yet not to the point of appearing effeminate. His lips were slightly thin and trembling faintly, as if betraying the unrest in his heart.
She took a deep breath. The air was filled with Su Peng’s scent.
Her body reacted slightly, warming up along with his body temperature.
“I… it tickles. Could you not breathe into my ear…” An Han’s voice was soft and timid. She bit her lower lip tightly, hoping her reason wouldn’t be defeated by her body’s sensations.
Su Peng fell silent. He lifted his head, still holding An Han’s soft body, and looked at her face from close range.
“Illegal… it’s illegal… I’m your master, your master…” Frightened, An Han immediately shut her eyes, mumbling repeatedly.
“Forget it.” Su Peng released her helplessly. “Am I really that unworthy of your trust?”
“I don’t know who it was that forcibly kissed me last time…”
He paused, then explained, “That time, I acted on impulse.”
“You look pretty impulsive this time too,” An Han retorted weakly, leaning in the corner.
She couldn’t endure his intense gaze at such close range. After only a few seconds, she uncontrollably lowered her head.
The two fell into silence together. After a long while, unable to bear the pressure any longer, An Han finally spoke, deciding to throw caution to the wind.
“The truth is, I got possessed by a system! The system forced me to do all kinds of weird things and eventually turned me into a girl! That explanation should work, right?!”
Su Peng’s expression turned stunned. He stood there blankly for a moment before loosening his arms and walking toward the dining table.
When that warm body moved away, the sense of security in An Han’s heart vanished instantly. She inexplicably felt a bit empty, her gaze lingering longingly on Su Peng’s arms.
Honestly… being held like that felt really nice…
It’s just an illusion from the system! An illusion from the system!
Repeating it twice in her heart, An Han finally tried to move, only to find that under such extreme tension, her legs had gone weak and could barely support her.
“Let’s continue eating.” Su Peng sat back down expressionlessly and looked up at An Han, who was inching toward the private room’s door step by step.
An Han froze, then smiled guiltily at him.
If earlier she’d only been worried about being forcibly kissed or about Su Peng doing something irrational, now she wanted to leave even more—and was even more afraid that she might truly sink into Su Peng’s gentle embrace.
Too terrifying~
Still, Su Peng didn’t bring up the system again, seemingly treating her words as nothing more than a desperate fabrication.
She had explained everything to Wu Dongming from the start, yet he hadn’t believed her. Now she’d told Su Peng too, and he clearly didn’t believe it either.
Should she take out one of the system’s reward items and demonstrate its effects to Su Peng?
But not only was it unnecessary for Su Peng to know the truth, An Han was even more worried that either she or Su Peng might turn into a beast.
Besides, Su Peng couldn’t solve the system problem anyway. Even if he believed her, with their current affection level, he might even be grateful to the system for delivering him a wife, and wouldn’t care whether An Han was male or female at all.
An Han sat back down at the table, pursed her lips, and focused on dealing with the half steak left on her plate.
Now that Su Peng seemed to have calmed down, there really wasn’t much to worry about.
She convinced herself of that, yet as she ate, she still couldn’t help occasionally lifting her head, sneaking glances at Su Peng’s expression from the corner of her eye.
Although his expressionless face looked a bit intimidating, at least the atmosphere was no longer ambiguous.
After quickly finishing the remaining half of the steak, An Han eagerly stood up and headed out of the private room. This time, Su Peng had no reason to stop her, though his expression remained stiff, as if he were thinking about something.
By the time she reached the restaurant entrance, the redness lingering on An Han’s face finally faded a little under the sunlight.
She stretched lazily and sighed. “I really don’t know how to face Su Peng’s feelings…”
The damned system was clearly forcing her to give herself up for free. And the more it pushed, the more she wanted to resist.
“This is ridiculous!”
“Luckily, this task wasn’t too hard. Su Peng was pretty restrained, and it even rewarded me with money… Tonight I’ll go look for a place. I’ll try to move out before Monday.”
Her phone vibrated. An Han glanced at the spam message on the lock screen and casually stuffed the phone back into her pocket.
“Heading back?” At that moment, Su Peng also walked out of the restaurant slowly, hands in his pockets.
“Yeah.”
He examined An Han’s slightly aggrieved brows and eyes, and her earlier explanation surfaced again in his mind.
After a pause, Su Peng asked, “You were a guy before?”
“Otherwise, why would I live in a boys’ dorm, and why would my ID say male?” Hearing him bring it up, An Han replied with a hint of anticipation. “It’s not like it’s decades ago.”
Su Peng nodded, agreeing with her explanation.
Now it made sense.
She must have undergone surgery during the summer break of her sophomore year to become a girl, and possibly taken some medication afterward, which caused her body to develop.
Anyone with eyes could see that her recent behavior showed she liked him. If she dared not accept his confession, could it be because of inner insecurity?
After pondering for a moment, Su Peng comforted her. “It’s fine. I don’t mind.”
An Han froze in surprise, completely unaware of what kind of conclusion he’d drawn in his head.
But sure enough, Su Peng really didn’t care about gender at all… Forget being a girl now—even if she were still a guy, this guy would still be willing to fence swords with her.
Too lazy to dig into it further, she sighed. “Let’s go. Time to head back.”
She had no idea how the unexpected wealth would be delivered to her.
Right now, she only looked forward to the system’s reward.
“I’ll call a car,” Su Peng said. He was mentally and physically exhausted as well, having no intention of driving himself. While ordering a ride on his phone, he brought up another matter. “I remember you’re planning to move out, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Want me to help you look for a place?”
“I’ll handle everything myself.”
An Han looked up at the slightly dazzling sky, her gaze secretly drifting to Su Peng’s chest, still savoring the feeling of being held in his arms earlier.
It felt safe, comfortable, and warm…
