Chapter 299 296. The New Semester
Su Peng hadn’t slept well last night and woke up around five in the morning.
He went downstairs to buy breakfast and placed it on the coffee table. After that, he crossed his legs and idly read a novel on his phone while waiting for An Han to wake up.
Today was the first day of the new semester. The class started at eight in the morning, so An Han would probably wake up around seven, get ready, and leave about forty minutes early.
But she always dragged things out whenever she could. Back when she still lived in the dormitory, if Su Peng hadn’t specifically waited for her on his bicycle, she would have been late countless times.
Maybe he should bring the bicycle he kept at school for her to use.
But if An Han had a bicycle, she’d probably just choose to sleep ten minutes longer and still arrive at class right on the dot every day.
Sleeping on the sofa last night hadn’t been comfortable. His whole body felt sore as if it were falling apart. Su Peng walked to the window, looked at the gradually brightening skyline, and stretched lazily.
Golden sunlight streamed through the window, spilling across the tiled floor of the living room and making the apartment brighter and brighter.
The sound of a door opening came from the bedroom.
Su Peng immediately turned his head to look.
An Han walked out sleepily. A few buttons of her thick, conservative cotton pajamas had come undone, and the collar had slipped down slightly, revealing her fair, fragrant shoulder. Her collarbone was delicate and refined, and even further down, a hint of her soft chest could be seen.
Clearly, she must have felt too warm while sleeping last night and subconsciously unbuttoned her clothes.
She yawned repeatedly, slipping one hand inside her clothes to scratch her stomach with her fingernails. In doing so, she lifted the hem of her pajama top, exposing her smooth, flat, tender abdomen to Su Peng’s view as well.
Her completely defenseless appearance made Su Peng feel awkward.
Like a gentleman, he moved his gaze away—but he couldn’t help sneaking a few more glances at her.
The half-hidden view combined with her drowsy expression was especially tempting to a man. Su Peng could only turn his back to her, worried she might notice his embarrassment.
Usually the most they did was exchange small kisses. The most daring thing he’d ever done was touch the back of her waist. This kind of alluring scene was a first.
“Su Peng…” An Han’s voice was soft and slightly nasal. She sniffed and frowned slightly. “What time is it?”
“Six fifty. If you wash up and eat breakfast, it’ll be about time to head out for class.”
“Is that so…”
She muttered something softly, scratched her messy hair, and shuffled slowly toward the bathroom.
The two-bedroom apartment only had one bathroom, located in the corner of the living room. That meant every time An Han needed to use the bathroom at night, she had to walk more than ten meters.
Half-awake, she brushed her teeth at the sink and looked up at herself in the mirror.
Suddenly, her eyes widened.
Her face flushed red. With the toothbrush still in her mouth, she hurriedly pulled her pajama collar back up over her shoulder and fastened the buttons again.
“Su Peng didn’t even remind me!”
She splashed cold water on her burning face, brushed her teeth, washed up, did her skincare, and combed her hair. By the time she finished, twenty minutes had passed, but the faint blush on her face still wouldn’t fade.
When she came out of the bathroom, Su Peng had already heated up the breakfast.
An Han instinctively glanced at his pants and noticed a slight bulge.
“Why did washing up take so long? Come eat, then change clothes—we’ll need to head out.”
“Mm.”
Su Peng had already put on a sweater, turning from his lean, athletic look into a gentle and refined image again. Smiling softly, he opened the plastic bag around the breakfast.
“I already heated it for you.”
“You can actually do this?”
“I can use a microwave, at least.”
Su Peng hadn’t really invested any points in household skills, but he could handle the most basic things.
However, when An Han picked up the reheated meat bun and took a bite, she realized that because the heating time was too short, the inside was still cold.
“The inside’s still cold…”
She shouldn’t have expected anything from Su Peng when it came to this sort of thing.
“Want me to heat it again?” Su Peng glanced at the time. “But you might be late for class.”
An Han rolled her eyes at him but didn’t mind much. In two or three minutes she finished the entire breakfast, cheeks puffed out as she chewed, then ran toward the bedroom.
Soon, An Han changed into everyday clothes and left the apartment with Su Peng.
Since she would be meeting most of her classmates today, her outfit was much simpler than yesterday’s dress. She wore a thick winter jacket on top and loose jeans below—an androgynous look that would look normal on anyone.
But her plain clothes couldn’t hide her pretty face, and her B+ chest size was also hard to conceal. Because of that, she had been frowning ever since they left the apartment.
Walking beside her, Su Peng noticed her worry.
“What’s wrong? Afraid your classmates will say something?”
“I guess…”
Last semester, An Han had already become female, but at the time her chest wasn’t very large and her hair was still styled like a man’s. Even though she was unusually pretty, people still assumed she was a boy.
But now…
Her hair had grown past her ears into a true short female hairstyle, her chest was impossible to hide, and her face seemed to have become even prettier over time.
And more people now knew she was a girl.
“I wonder what they’ll think of me…” An Han murmured anxiously. “Maybe I should just keep pretending to be a cross-dressing guy?”
“When the weather gets warmer, everyone will be able to tell.”
“That’s true…”
“No matter what they think of you, I’ll always be by your side.”
An Han froze for a moment, turning to look at Su Peng’s upright, pine-like figure. At last, a faint smile appeared on her face.
“Mm!”
Between the residential area and the school was a small vegetable market. Even though it was still early, the place was already bustling with noise.
An Han tiptoed around the dirty water on the ground, wrinkling her nose as she passed through the market. After that, the streets became quieter, with only a few off-campus students like her hurrying toward the school gate.
“We need to hurry,” Su Peng said, checking the time. “If we keep walking this slowly, we might be late.”
“Really?!”
An Han jumped in surprise and immediately dashed toward the school.
She hadn’t exercised in a long time, and her stamina had dropped badly. By the time she ran to the school gate she was already out of breath, yet there was still another ten minutes of walking from the gate to the teaching building.
Su Peng, however, was completely at ease. In long-distance running, he was only slightly worse than the school’s athletic specialists.
“Hurry! Hurry! It’s the first class!”
A new semester, new courses, new teachers—she didn’t want to leave too strong of an impression on the instructor.
“I can’t… I can’t run anymore…”
After only a few more steps, An Han clutched her abdomen as her pace slowed more and more.
It wasn’t that her stamina had failed—it was because she had just eaten breakfast and immediately sprinted nearly a kilometer, making her stomach ache badly.
She grabbed Su Peng’s arm.
“If we’re late, we’ll be late together!”
At the very least, she needed someone to share the blame.
“We’re almost there,” Su Peng said, turning back to look at her. “Want me to carry you?”
“No!”
That would be way too embarrassing.
