Chapter 332 329. The Choice
There were still many things An Han wanted to ask about Su Peng going abroad.
Could he stay? How long would he be gone? How many times a year would he come back? How expensive were international phone calls? What major was he planning to study…
But when the words reached her lips, she merely frowned slightly and nodded.
She still wasn’t used to expressing herself.
Quietly finishing every last bite of her lunch, An Han lifted her head and looked at Su Peng’s face—the one that always carried a gentle smile whenever he faced her.
Seeing that smile, the bit of anxiety in her heart suddenly intensified.
Even though, judging from the favorability that was approaching one hundred and ten, An Han was willing to trust Su Peng, her mind still couldn’t stop wandering.
After spending several years abroad, in a new environment, perhaps Su Peng’s values and personality would change, and he might no longer be compatible with her.
Maybe he would find a prettier girlfriend overseas who suited him better.
Or maybe when he returned from studying abroad, he would start looking down on her—a mere ordinary undergraduate.
An Han rubbed her temples with both hands, trying to control those unpleasant thoughts.
“Then… I just won’t go abroad?” Su Peng asked tentatively as he looked at her expression.
Truthfully, he wasn’t very eager to go abroad either. After all, he had finally found a girlfriend he liked—who would want to run off to some unfamiliar place and stay there for several years?
Just as An Han was about to answer, the system suddenly appeared to stir things up.
[Option 1: Accompany Su Peng to study abroad. Reward: Advanced Learning Skill
Option 2: Stop Su Peng’s plan to study abroad. Reward: Parents’ Blessing
Option 3: Let Su Peng go abroad. Reward: Random Attribute Point]
She couldn’t help letting out a soft sigh. Her gaze swept quickly across the three lines of text from the task prompt, and the corner of her mouth twitched.
Even without you interfering, I already know there are only these three choices!
She wasn’t particularly interested in the rewards and carefully read through each task one by one.
Studying abroad together was the hardest task. After all, her visa had been rejected back then, leaving a blemish on her record. It would basically be impossible for her to leave the country again within ten years.
Not to mention her English level… After passing CET-4 she had practically returned most of it to the teacher. Even if she did go abroad, she wouldn’t be able to attend the same university as Su Peng.
Letting him go or stopping him were obviously the simplest options. If Su Peng was willing, it would be easy—and if she acted spoiled, pretended to be cute, or even cried a little, she could probably resolve it.
When did my way of solving problems become things like that…
Glancing at the task countdown, she saw there was a full day left to make a choice, so there was no rush.
Originally she could have avoided the issue, ignored it, forgotten it—but now the system was forcing her to make a decision sooner.
For someone like her, who could spend half an hour deciding what takeout to order, making this kind of choice was extremely difficult.
“Let’s… see later,” An Han replied softly to Su Peng’s question.
She felt that she should respect Su Peng’s own thoughts. After pausing for a moment, she asked curiously, “If you didn’t go…”
“Then my parents would break my legs.”
“No wonder…”
So the real difficulty of Task Two lay with Su Peng’s parents. Whether he went abroad or not wasn’t something Su Peng could decide alone.
She had heard that wealthy families sometimes donated large sums of money to universities just so their children could attend top overseas schools.
“What do you mean ‘no wonder’?” Su Peng asked, confused.
“Nothing…”
They had finished lunch. The two of them stood up side by side and placed their trays at the return station.
It was the weekend. They had originally planned to go shopping together in the afternoon, but now neither of them was in the mood.
With his hands in his pockets, Su Peng followed behind An Han as they walked out of the school gate. When she wasn’t looking back, a trace of worry and frustration finally appeared on his face.
“Su Peng.”
He immediately switched back to a gentle smile. “What’s up?”
“I want to eat McDonald’s.”
“Then I’ll order delivery for you.” Su Peng immediately took out his phone. But after checking the delivery apps, he realized there was no McDonald’s near the school. “Is KFC okay?”
“No. It’s not Thursday.”
“Then I’ll take a taxi to buy it?”
As he spoke, he noticed An Han looking at him with a strange expression.
He had absolutely no idea what he had said wrong…
An Han scratched her hair and sighed. “This is why I’m getting lazier and lazier…”
Or rather, more and more dependent on Su Peng.
Whenever she wanted something, Su Peng would immediately go buy it. Whatever she wanted to eat, he would find a way to get it for her. As for simple things like carrying stuff or bringing water, Su Peng was even more attentive.
Even the most independent person would gradually be softened after being taken care of like this for a while.
“It’s good to be a little lazy,” Su Peng said with a cheerful smile. “If you get lazier and gain some weight, then nobody else will want you except me.”
“Sinister!”
An Han snorted.
“So are you still eating McDonald’s?”
“No!”
She took a few steps back and walked beside him.
In truth, she really hoped Su Peng would stay.
Before and after she became a girl, Su Peng had always taken care of her. She had already grown used to this feeling. She couldn’t even imagine what her life would be like after he left.
But reason told her she couldn’t keep going like this.
Otherwise she would gradually become dependent on Su Peng… and she didn’t want to become what her sister had described—a rich man’s kept flower vase.
Besides, Su Peng was in a difficult position too…
“Alright! I’ve decided! I’ll take leave these next two days and go home to explain everything clearly.”
Su Peng’s sudden words interrupted her tangled thoughts. At last, he made up his mind.
“I’m not going abroad to study anymore!”
“Uh… won’t they be angry?”
“They’ll definitely be angry,” he said with a careless grin. “But I’m their only son. What can they really do to me?”
“What if they get so angry they fall sick?”
“We have a family doctor. I’m not studying medicine—what can I do if someone gets sick?”
Su Peng looked like a carefree rascal. “I’m rebelling! If I want to do something, why should they control me?!”
“… ”
“I never liked foreign countries anyway. What’s better there than here? Even if I take the graduate entrance exams myself, I can still get into a decent school.”
An Han had never seen Su Peng act this rebellious before, with a hint of roguish boldness.
But instead of making him seem unreliable, it made him seem strangely dependable.
“Isn’t that a bad idea?”
Su Peng finally showed that domineering side of himself again, completely crushing An Han’s hesitation.
“My life, my decision! Why are you interfering?”
For someone with severe decision paralysis, An Han immediately knew what her own choice was.
Then I’ve decided too!
[Task 2 accepted. Please complete it as soon as possible.]
Her eyes curved like crescent moons, her long thick eyelashes intertwining.
“It’s okay. If your parents get angry, I’ll stay with you.”
“What do you mean my parents?” Su Peng laughed. “They’re your future parents-in-law.”
“I never said I’d marry you.”
“That’s also my decision. You’re not allowed to object.”
“Tch~” An Han crossed her arms, turned her head away, and complained with a smile. “Marriage is something two people decide together, okay? Who acts as霸道 as you?”
But Su Peng simply wrapped an arm around her shoulders, ignoring her words, his mood suddenly bright again.
“Let’s go. I promised to take you shopping this afternoon.”
