Chapter 265 262. There isn't a single good man!
There was a breakfast shop right in the alley where An Han's house was located, only about a hundred meters away.
At a little past five in the morning, the breakfast shop had just opened, and a few customers were scattered inside. She had been eating at this breakfast shop almost since she was a kid. Logically speaking, the owner should recognize her, but she had long since become a woman.
Ordering a sweet soy milk, a piece of triangle cake, and a shrimp ring, she found a corner seat and sat down. While blowing on the hot soy milk, she continued to check the newly popped-up tasks.
The reward for Task One was as generous as ever. Logically, a marital home would at least have a good location and a decent size, and it would most likely be a brand-new house.
But knowing the system's typical behavior, god knows what kind of catch there would be. Or perhaps the house was supposed to be hers anyway, and it was just euphemistically called a "system reward."
"Didn't my dad say he was going to take out a loan to buy a house when he came back this time?" An Han suddenly remembered one of her father's purposes for returning this year.
The reward for Task Two would make Su Peng ecstatic... but for An Han, it was practically non-existent. Anyway, it was impossible for her to have any "in-depth interactions" with Su Peng in the near future, and even if they did, she would most likely not be able to let go of her inhibitions.
Isn't this purely just a reward for Su Peng?
But as long as she didn't use this kind of reward, it was essentially non-existent, much like An Han's vocal skills—when she wasn't singing or faking her voice, it had zero presence.
Her face grew slightly hot, and strange images almost popped into her mind. She immediately shifted her gaze to the third task.
The first two tasks required Su Peng to step up; he was the key. Task Three, however, required An Han to face her parents alone and confess her "crimes" from the past few days.
Just imagining that scene made An Han panic.
Did she really have to spell it out to her parents that she had been confessed to and kissed?
"Should I just choose Task One?" she muttered, taking a bite of the triangle cake.
A gaze fell upon her. Looking up, she realized it was the owner frying food at the front of the shop, turning his head to look at her.
He probably found her facial features familiar, right?
Smiling at the owner, An Han propped her chin on one hand and continued to stare blankly at the task panel.
"God knows what weird random attributes will be forced upon me again," she whispered to herself. "Choosing One is too difficult; I might not be able to complete it. Plus, my dad was planning to buy me a house anyway."
"Choosing Two has medium difficulty. Su Peng will be in charge, so it has nothing to do with me. The reward's application scope is small; if I don't use it, I can just pretend it doesn't exist."
But this highly suggestive reward felt like it would somehow screw her over in the future.
An Han sighed mournfully.
She would wait for Su Peng's reply. If he was willing to come, she'd choose Two. If not, she'd choose Three.
Glancing at her phone again, two pop-up notifications and voice messages hadn't woken Su Peng up. So, she dialed his number directly.
A moment later, Su Peng answered with a hoarse voice, "Hello, who is it..."
"It's me, An Han."
His voice instantly perked up. "Why are you up so early? It's only 5:30. Didn't sleep well?"
"I just went to bed early last night, that's all." Just chatting with Su Peng on the phone inexplicably made An Han's mood much better. She lightly swung her legs, a sweet smile uncontrollably showing on her lips. "Can you come over to my house sometime in the next two days? I think it's better if we get my parents' approval for our situation."
"Well... Auntie doesn't seem to like me very much, does she?" Su Peng woke up even more, sitting up with his phone. "What does Uncle think? I feel like it might be better to keep it a secret for a while and tell them in a few months."
An Han knew, of course, that Su Peng's reasoning was sound. After all, her mother was worried because she had only recently turned into a girl and lacked experience being a woman. She could easily be foolishly deceived by men. That was why her mother didn't have a good impression of Su Peng, a man who seemed to have been lusting after her body from the very beginning.
In a few months, or half a year, her mother's level of acceptance would be much higher when they told her.
An Han didn't know how to explain. After a moment of silence, she mimicked those coquettish girls, gave a soft hmph through her nose, and pinched her voice: "I don't care! My parents have to agree! Fine, I'll go tell them myself."
Since when did I master the skill of acting spoiled?
On the other end, Su Peng's heart instantly melted. He hurriedly said, "Okay, okay, I'll come over."
"What do your parents like? I'll bring some gifts. Is there anything they consider taboo or hate? Tell me in detail so I don't get locked out before I even enter the door."
"They like... face?" An Han muttered uncertainly. "My mom loves beauty, and my dad seems quite vain too..."
Su Peng joked on his end, "Then should I go find a more expensive car in the garage? To keep up appearances?"
"I don't care about that. What time will you be here?"
"What time?"
"Yeah, come today."
Su Peng hadn't expected An Han to be in such a rush. After hesitating for a moment, he replied, "Noon?"
"Alright!"
[Task Two Accepted. Please complete it as soon as possible.]
Now she had dumped the responsibility onto Su Peng's head. When the time came, Su Peng would be the one feeling awkward, and she just needed to watch from the sidelines.
She wondered if her parents would just kick Su Peng right out of the house.
An Han muttered in her heart. After finishing her breakfast, she packed some up to go and slowly walked back home.
Su Peng had a rather gentle personality and was reliable. At the very least, he wouldn't get into a conflict with her parents.
Upon returning home, An Han sat on the sofa, fraught with worry.
Shifting the task onto Su Peng didn't make her feel completely relaxed as she had anticipated. Instead, she was worrying about this and that, afraid something would go wrong.
Footsteps came from the stairs. Her father walked down wearing a cotton pajama set.
He noticed An Han. "Up so early?"
"I bought you breakfast. It's on the table."
Her father casually grabbed a steamed bun and ate it while sitting down at the computer in the living room. He opened Happy Landlord, but suddenly leaned back, making the computer chair creak, and turned his head to ask An Han, "Did you go see... that Su Peng guy a couple days ago?"
He had heard from her mother about the pig who was coveting their family's cabbage.
"Yeah." An Han kept her expression neutral. "It was too boring being at home alone."
Her father didn't seem too angry. It looked like his behavior yesterday was mostly just him putting on an act to agree with her mother.
It seemed he wasn't as bothered as her mother about his daughter finding a boyfriend?
This discovery put An Han a little more at ease, and she even started thinking about "recruiting" her father to whisper some sweet words into her mother's ear.
"Dad~" she pinched her voice and called out softly, then complained as if tattling, "Mom won't even let me contact Su Peng! He's been my classmate for years; don't I know what kind of person he is!"
"Mom's thinking is too old-fashioned and conservative, right! It's as if there isn't a single good man in the whole world!"
Her father nodded in agreement.
An Han became genuinely more excited. Her eyes lit up as she saw hope in lowering the task's difficulty.
The Boss is my mother.
Me, Su Peng, and Dad. Three against one—what is there to be afraid of!
"There isn't a single good man in the whole world!" her father cursed indignantly.
"......"
