Chapter 175 173. One of Life’s Three Great Illusions

Jan 16, 2026 1,433 words

It seemed she had gotten away with it?

An Han returned to her seat, propping her chin up with both hands, staring blankly at the computer screen.

At the very least, Long Xing hadn’t continued questioning her.

She had wanted to relax and focus on watching Wang Sheng’s match on the livestream, but another thought immediately surfaced.

The underwear must have been discovered—yet Long Xing hadn’t followed up with more questions?

If he had pressed the issue, she probably could only have explained it by admitting she was a pervert, right?

But Long Xing seemed to deliberately leave her some dignity…

An Han’s attention was completely off the match. She glanced back at Long Xing behind her, a bold guess forming in her mind.

Perhaps Long Xing had already confirmed through various means that she was a woman.

Should she think of a way or an excuse to keep denying it, or simply go along with what Long Xing believed?

But with such a pretty face, no matter how she argued, it wouldn’t be very convincing.

Although her looks still had room for improvement after this round of appearance enhancement, her facial lines and features already showed no trace of her former masculinity.

What’s more, she now had an A-cup chest, manga-like long legs, and a soft, slender body line…

“But it’s fine. Long Bro’s affection for me has already dropped.”

An Han checked Long Xing’s favorability again and finally let out a sigh of relief.

Even if he had once again seen her in women’s clothing and confirmed her gender, his favorability had only increased by two points—nothing like the explosive growth she’d imagined.

Great~

No need to worry about falling into a love-triangle hell.

Dealing with Su Peng—gentle on the outside but domineering inside—was already enough of a headache. Add another one-meter-eighty-plus “gangster enforcer” muscle man, and she’d seriously consider dropping out of school altogether.

“When is Wang Sheng’s final?” An Han asked Long Xing, trying to sound casual.

“This is the final right now. The afternoon and evening are for other games.”

She nodded in slight surprise and turned her gaze back to the screen.

The esports club’s livestream setup was surprisingly professional. The main screen showed in-game footage, while the bottom left had a small window that didn’t obstruct viewing, showing the venue and players.

There was also a commentator talking almost nonstop. Even though An Han couldn’t really understand it, all the elements an esports match should have were basically there.

“Looks like it’s almost finished…”

FPS games were probably the easiest type of competition to watch. Even though An Han had only played a couple of matches on Wang Sheng’s computer and was basically a complete newbie, she could still follow what was going on.

MOBA games, on the other hand, required knowledge of heroes and skills—otherwise it was just a screen full of flashy effects, leaving you dizzy without understanding a thing.

An Han rested her chin in her hands, watching with interest, though she still felt a bit restless. Her eyes kept flicking to the time in the bottom right corner of the screen, then to her Alipay app on her phone.

“Why hasn’t the money arrived yet…”

She muttered under her breath.

What happened to the promised windfall? When it came to modifying her body, the system was unbelievably proactive—but when it came to money, it dragged its feet.

Suddenly her eyelid twitched, and she realized something.

If Wang Sheng won the championship and gave me his prize money… that counts as a windfall too, doesn’t it?

Tsk—no way. Is that where the trick is?

“So awesome! Wang Sheng just pulled off a 1v3!” Long Xing suddenly shouted excitedly. “He’s really going to take the championship!”

What?!

Only then did An Han focus on the score and realize Wang Sheng’s team just needed to win the last round to secure victory.

Now she was almost certain—the system’s “unexpected fortune” reward was Wang Sheng’s prize money.

That was way too unfair! She hadn’t even wanted it in the first place!

Wang Sheng offering her the prize was entirely under Su Peng’s instruction—it was practically the same as her taking money straight out of Su Peng’s pocket.

After all this roundabout nonsense, she might as well have just borrowed money directly from Su Peng!

“Hey, Xiao Han, want to go watch it live together?” Long Xing asked excitedly. Even though it was just Wang Sheng winning a small tournament with only seven or eight teams, he was still extremely hyped.

“Sure, I guess.”

An Han sighed softly and nodded.

Once she got the money and moved out, her relationship and interactions with her roommates would definitely decrease.

They had lived together for two years, after all. No matter how eager she was to leave, now that it had come to this, she still felt a bit reluctant.

“Long Bro, how about giving Wang Sheng a surprise?” she suggested as they walked out into the hallway. “What about a banner?”

“A banner?”

Long Xing turned to look at An Han—only to see a completely unhinged smile on his roommate’s face.

“Let’s go to an off-campus print shop. Red background, white letters! A ten-meter-long banner! Write: ‘Congratulations to Wang Sheng and Wang Yu for leading their team to win the 2021 Campus Esports Cup Championship.’ What do you think?”

Serves you right for being bought off by Su Peng! I’m going to make you socially die at school!

Long Xing froze. After a moment of silence, he grinned, showing a full set of white teeth. “While we’re at it, should we help Wang Sheng recruit a girlfriend?”

Although An Han was surprised that Long Xing would actually join in on this prank, the smile on her face grew even more twisted—and sweet.

She immediately came up with something even more vicious. “Then let’s write: ‘2021 Campus Esports Cup Champion Team Captain Wang Sheng—Now Accepting Marriage Proposals.’ And we’ll borrow a loudspeaker and loop the recording under the banner.”

“Won’t Wang Sheng get mad?” Long Xing was good-natured and usually didn’t like provoking people.

“If he does, just say it was your idea.”

“Wang Sheng isn’t stupid.”

That whole ‘recruiting a bride’ idea clearly came out of your mouth!

After being a nice guy for so long, people rarely associated bad deeds with Long Xing. An Han, on the other hand, had always been the mischievous type. Whenever something went wrong, parents, relatives, teachers, or classmates would immediately suspect her.

She’d spent her whole life taking the blame for her younger sister.

An Han didn’t really mind. She looked up at Long Xing and asked curiously, “Long Bro, why aren’t you stopping me?”

Normally, if Long Xing heard she wanted to pull a prank, he’d at least try to verbally dissuade her. But today, he was practically encouraging it.

Long Xing’s expression turned a little dejected. He avoided her gaze and said, “Aren’t you moving out soon? Let me go crazy with you one last time…”

After all, they’d been roommates for two years—and he’d had his feelings toyed with three times.

If only he’d known earlier that An Han was a girl…

Unconsciously, he tightened his grip on the pink thermos in his hand, regret filling his heart.

The birthday gift An Han had carefully chosen was practically a confession—but he’d been too foolish to make a move, and Su Peng had seized the opportunity…

An Han didn’t understand why his expression kept changing. She glanced at the time on her phone and muttered, “How long does one match usually take?”

“About half an hour. If Wang Sheng loses this one, it’s a do-or-die match. Two rounds would be a bit over an hour.”

“Then there might not be enough time… I’ll go check off campus! If it really doesn’t work, I’ll handwrite it.”

She took off running excitedly, her running posture unusually light and lively.

It’s been a long time since I messed with someone!
