Chapter 330 327. So Fast!
“Not bad. These days it’s rare to see girls who can cook. Su Peng, you’re pretty lucky.”
“Tastes good too. Nice cooking! Honestly, it’s better than some Michelin places I’ve tried!”
“You must’ve put a lot of effort into this, right?”
“Su Peng, your future life is going to be great~ Where’d you find a girlfriend like this? Pretty and capable.”
Su Yichang sat at the coffee table with a cheerful smile, occasionally looking up to tease the young couple in front of him. His expression was full of satisfaction.
The way he ate matched his praise—big mouthfuls, enjoying everything without being picky.
Su Peng glanced at An Han’s crescent-shaped smiling eyes, then looked at Su Yichang, who was used to delicacies from mountains and seas yet was still praising An Han’s cooking endlessly…
Su Yichang’s exaggerated compliments made Su Peng feel awkward all over. An Han’s cooking was clearly only average at best, yet it was being praised as if it were a state banquet.
Well, technically it wasn’t a lie. Even Michelin restaurants sometimes mess up or serve dishes that just don’t suit someone’s taste.
No wonder his cousin kept changing girlfriends one after another.
After a moment of silence, Su Peng copied his cousin and put on a surprised expression as if he had tasted something amazing.
“To be fair, it’s really good!”
An Han froze for a moment and looked up at Su Peng’s obviously fake expression. She pursed her lips but didn’t say anything.
Coming from Su Peng, such insincere compliments felt strange to her—almost like he was mocking her.
But when Su Yichang said it, it somehow sounded nice.
“Oh right, the cake.”
An Han suddenly stood up and hurried to the fridge to get it.
She had bought the cake from a nearby pastry shop. It wasn’t big, and it cost just a little over a hundred yuan, but considering she only had a bit more than a thousand yuan left in her pocket, it was still expensive for her.
She had even worried the cake might have gone bad, or that Su Peng wouldn’t like such a cheap cake. But when she brought it out, both Su Peng and Su Yichang looked like starving ghosts and quickly divided it into several pieces.
“Wait, what? You haven’t put candles in or made a wish yet!”
Watching them already splitting the cake, she suddenly remembered the procedure from when she had celebrated her own birthday a few days earlier.
Back then it had felt a little awkward being the one to blow out the candles and make a wish—but now it was Su Peng’s turn to suffer.
“It’s fine, no big deal.”
The cake was already being eaten. Of course it was no big deal…
An Han helplessly sat down on the sofa, resting her chin on her hands while watching the two men eat the cake and the dishes she had cooked.
A strong sense of accomplishment filled her chest, and she squinted happily.
Even though she knew they were both pretending…
Especially Su Peng—his acting still needed improvement.
Still, being cared about felt pretty nice.
“You’re not eating cake?” Su Peng asked.
“I just had some a few days ago. It’s too sweet.” An Han shook her head, refusing the piece he offered. “I’m full too.”
The birthday celebration was rather rushed. The three of them chatted while eating, and after half an hour, the dishes An Han had spent two hours cooking were completely cleared.
This made her even more satisfied.
After Su Yichang left, Su Peng took the initiative to start cleaning the coffee table and dishes.
“Go rest. I’ll wash the dishes.”
“Maybe not… These dishes are kind of expensive.”
An Han was too worried to rest, afraid he might break something.
“I’m an adult. Just because I’m not good at it doesn’t mean I can’t do it.”
Su Peng stacked the plates together and carried them into the kitchen under An Han’s anxious gaze.
She followed him and watched his clumsy but earnest dishwashing at the sink. Only then did she relax.
“So from now on, I cook and you wash the dishes?”
“No problem!”
“I’ll wipe the table.”
“I’ll do it!”
Su Peng grabbed the rag and dashed out of the kitchen, rushing past An Han to vigorously wipe the glass table in the living room.
She stared at his unusually attentive behavior and pursed her lips.
“You must be up to something.”
“How could that be?”
“I’m going to take a shower.”
It was already nine at night.
From after class at six until eight, An Han had been busy cooking in the kitchen. Now she felt tired and just wanted to wash off the oily smell and lie comfortably in bed while scrolling on her phone.
The weather had begun to warm up recently, so she had switched from thick fleece pajamas to thinner shirt-and-pants sleepwear. Because of her parents, she had more pajamas than she could even wear.
After showering, she checked the dishes Su Peng had washed and the kitchen and dining table he had cleaned. Once she confirmed everything was fine, she returned to her bedroom.
“Wow… he actually did it pretty well.”
Just a bit slow. If she had been watching beside him, she would probably have gotten impatient.
“But he must be planning something weird again!”
Muttering to herself, she locked the door.
She hadn’t been lying in bed long when she heard the bedroom doorknob turning.
An Han poked her head out from the blanket and stared at the door for a moment before hearing a slightly pleading voice outside.
“An Han, I cut some apples for you.”
“I don’t like apples. Eat them yourself.”
“There are pears, bananas, and strawberries too.”
“We still have class tomorrow. I’m getting sleepy,” An Han replied stubbornly.
She could already imagine Su Peng’s anxious expression outside the door.
Trying not to laugh, she continued, “Go to bed. I’m going to sleep too.”
“Want me to warm your feet?”
“LSP…” she muttered quietly, basically guessing his intentions.
Sure enough—give him an inch and he’ll take a mile.
“No thanks. I’m wearing socks to sleep,” she replied loudly.
Outside the door, Su Peng’s face darkened. His intentions had been completely exposed.
But he was thick-skinned and stubbornly continued persuading her.
“I’m just bringing you fruit. Can’t you at least open the door a crack? Just take it in yourself.”
“Really. When have I ever lied to you?”
An Han’s resolve weakened slightly, but she still blushed and retorted,
“When haven’t you lied to me?!”
“When? Tell me.”
She tried to recall but couldn’t think of a specific example.
It actually seemed pretty rare.
Still, words from a man at times like this couldn’t be trusted—even ghosts wouldn’t believe them.
But what if Su Peng really didn’t have those intentions… and she was just overthinking things herself?
Hesitating, An Han climbed out of bed and slowly shuffled to the door. She cautiously opened it a crack, revealing only her large eyes as she suspiciously looked at Su Peng standing outside with a gentle smile.
Her gaze moved to the bowl in his hands. It really was filled with cut fruit.
“Hmph.”
She opened the door and walked back to sit on the bed.
“Put it on the table and leave.”
“Okay!”
Su Peng placed the fruit on the table—then instantly slipped under the blanket with smooth, lightning-fast movements.
An Han was stunned. She stared blankly at Su Peng, who was already lying down comfortably, blinking her big eyes.
“You really did lie to me!”
Angrily, she grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.
“It’s my birthday today!”
“You’re pushing your luck!”
Seeing that he had no intention of getting up, she snorted and turned off the light before climbing into the blanket herself.
Then, as revenge, she shoved her icy cold feet against Su Peng’s stomach.
“An Han…” Su Peng stared at her in the darkness.
A blush spread across her body again. An Han pursed her lips while Su Peng braced himself.
Wait! Why did An Han suddenly seem much more skilled?
“…”
“Hiss—so fast again!”
“You really do have a problem, don’t you?”
Although An Han sounded surprised, inwardly she was complaining about the system.
The advanced technique skill she had received as a reward last night was indeed this kind of improper technique!
