Chapter 180 178. A Stalker, Right?! 【4/17】

Jan 16, 2026 1,438 words

An Han rented a one-bedroom, one-bath unit—just over thirty square meters, a small studio.

This apartment building didn’t only accept long-term tenants like her; it also operated like a hotel, allowing overnight stays. As a result, people came and went frequently, making it a mixed and rather unsafe environment.

The main reason she chose this place was that the ground-floor security door required a keycard to enter. Although foot traffic was heavy, short-term guests stayed on the lower three floors, while monthly renters like her lived on the top two floors.

On top of that, the location was relatively secluded, which helped her avoid Su Peng as much as possible.

But who knew Su Peng would just pick up her suitcase and follow her—and even have ways to contact those sub-landlords…

Carrying An Han’s suitcase, Su Peng had been frowning ever since entering the building, carefully observing the surroundings as he hauled two large bags up to the fifth floor in one go.

If An Han had been on her own, lugging a suitcase and a thick quilt up five floors, it probably would’ve taken her ten minutes.

Rather than an apartment, the place felt more like a hotel. A long, narrow, dim corridor stretched ahead, with tightly shut doors lining both sides. Passing some rooms, they could hear conversations inside or the loudspeaker audio of Douyin videos playing.

Su Peng cast an unsatisfied glance at An Han, only to see her face full of excitement. She showed no resistance at all to this environment she’d be living in long-term—in fact, she even seemed to like it.

“My room’s inside.” An Han led the way, jogging to the end of the corridor. She took out her key and opened the door. “Not bad, right? It’s a bit small, but it’s pretty decent.”

Su Peng leaned over to look inside. A double bed, a small wardrobe, and a cheap, compact computer desk were all the furniture in the room. Following An Han in, he noticed the old air conditioner and, tucked away in the deepest corner, a bathroom so cramped it was hard to even turn around in.

“Did you sign a contract?” he asked after setting down the luggage.

“Yeah. The contract’s on the desk.”

The room had been thoroughly cleaned before being rented out, so An Han didn’t need to do much. She dragged her suitcase to the wardrobe and put all her clothes inside.

She’d be living here for the next two or three months.

She didn’t need things like a living room or a kitchen. Just having a clean, tidy bedroom was more than enough for her.

The bathroom was just too small—if only there were a bathtub…

After tidying up her belongings and spreading the bedding on the bed, An Han finally sat down at the foot of the bed, exhausted.

The phone she’d tossed onto the bed suddenly rang.

She glanced at it, casually answered, and put it on speaker.

“Mr. An Han, you really have won—”

Before the other party could finish, An Han hung up directly. Only then did she realize it was the same number as the scam call from earlier.

“I don’t even have money for you to scam…” she muttered, blocking the number before looking up at Su Peng. “What are you looking at?”

Ever since entering the room, he’d been acting like a nervous wreck, repeatedly checking the power outlets, router, light bulbs, and similar fixtures.

“Checking for hidden cameras.”

Only then did An Han realize that rental units or hotels might have concealed cameras.

She’d never even considered that possibility before.

“Well?” She straightened up, suddenly very concerned.

“So far, everything looks fine.”

After checking the outlet under the computer desk and confirming there was no issue, Su Peng stood up and turned back to her. “Another scam call just now?”

“Yeah. Kept insisting I’d won a prize.”

“Be more careful. There are lots of scam methods these days.” He walked up to her. “Go back to the dorm to keep moving things, or grab breakfast first?”

At her seated height, An Han was facing right at Su Peng’s lower abdomen. She immediately flopped back onto the bed to hide her embarrassment and replied, “Breakfast. You go buy it downstairs?”

“Sure.”

“Sure my ass! Get lost already! I don’t need you to buy me breakfast, and I don’t need you helping me move!” She suddenly grabbed a pillow and threw it at him. “Are you crazy? I’ve already moved out of the dorm and you’re still clinging to me!”

Su Peng caught the pillow in surprise and looked up at the puffed-up An Han.

“Then I’ll go?”

“Get lost!”

He shrugged indifferently, tossed the pillow back onto the bed, and walked straight out of An Han’s room, closing the door behind him.

The footsteps in the corridor gradually faded away. An Han listened to those resolute departing steps, then suddenly sat up, muttering softly, “Did he get mad? He left so decisively?”

“It’d be great if he were mad, but his favorability didn’t drop at all…”

She sighed mournfully, ruffling her hair into a complete mess with both hands. “Ah~ this was supposed to be a happy day~”

If she hadn’t chased Su Peng away, this weekend would definitely have been very comfortable—but no matter how comfortable, she couldn’t indulge in that kind of inappropriate pleasure.

Otherwise, she’d end up liking men…

An Han lay back down on the bed, absentmindedly holding her phone above her and scrolling through Douyin.

Most daily necessities could be brought over from the dorm, but she still needed to buy hangers, a few wall hooks, and things like a broom, mop, and trash can. Adding it all up, even a hundred yuan wouldn’t be enough.

She only had a few hundred yuan on hand, so she could only scrimp and save until her living allowance arrived at the end of the month.

As her thoughts wandered, she came back to the issue of her identity.

Because her ID card listed her as male, her legal gender was still “male.” At the very least, this had to be resolved before graduation—otherwise, her diploma would have nothing to do with her.

“The system should be able to handle it, right?”

Once the system offered a reward related to changing her ID, she’d have to accept that task.

If she tried to change the gender on her ID by herself, the procedures and documents required would be overwhelming—and the key issue was that she might not even be able to obtain them.

Voices from the hallway drifted in—landlady Auntie was talking.

“Young man, take a look—which room do you like? This one’s a 550-yuan studio, a bit bigger…”

Someone else had come to look at a room?

An Han was still puzzled when she heard a deep voice next.

“Is room 502 occupied?”

“No, it’s empty. I’ll open it so you can take a look.”

“!!!”

She sprang up from the bed, rushed to open the door, and poked her head out.

Su Peng stood there with the same gentle smile, as if he’d anticipated her reaction. The moment she leaned out, their gazes collided.

The landlady cheerfully introduced, “The handsome guy in 501—don’t mistake him for a girl.”

She’d seen An Han’s ID card and was certain An Han was male.

“Su Peng!”

“You two know each other?” The auntie sensed the gunpowder in the air around An Han and wisely stepped back.

“You’re a damn stalking pervert, aren’t you?!”

“How could that be?” Su Peng smiled broadly, then suddenly put on a pleasantly surprised expression. “So you live here too? That’s great!”

“I forbid you from living next door to me!”

“Sister, this…” Su Peng looked at the landlady with an awkward expression.

The landlady nodded happily. “It’s fine. This one, then. The little guy doesn’t know any better.”

Calling a landlady in her fifties “sister”!

“You’ve got some nerve…” An Han ground her teeth as she glared at Su Peng.
