Chapter 320 317. Bar

Apr 03, 2026 1,480 words

“Su Peng, Su Peng~ Are there lots of people dancing in bars, with the bass going boom boom all the time?”

“That’s a nightclub.”

“Su Peng, Su Peng! Do bars really have those drinks that cost thousands or tens of thousands per bottle?”

“On Taobao they’re one or two thousand.”

“Then outside bars, do people really pick up drunk girls?”

“Anyway, I’ve never seen it.”

Ever since she was little, An Han had been extremely curious about bars. Compared with places like internet cafés, bars had always been demonized by her parents, and many online forums constantly criticized them.

But that only made her more curious.

After eating hotpot and cake in the evening and celebrating her birthday with friends, it was only around eight o’clock at night. Since it was her birthday and she had been accompanied by friends earlier, An Han wasn’t worried about running into danger, so she suddenly wanted to go to a bar to see what it was like.

However, after bringing up the idea, no one responded. In the end, she could only drag Su Peng along, and the two of them headed to a nearby bar.

“I thought you were just curious. I didn’t expect you actually wanted to go,” Su Peng sighed. “You need to distinguish between a bar and a nightclub. And if you’re alone, it’s best not to go to places like that.”

“But it’s my birthday today~”

Walking under the night sky and streetlights, An Han was shorter than Su Peng and her legs were a bit shorter too, so she had to quicken her pace, taking little steps beside him. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

“I definitely wouldn’t dare go alone. I never drink alcohol outside.”

“I’m just curious whether those cocktails taste good. I just want to experience the atmosphere.”

She found excuses and reasons for herself, and reminded Su Peng, “You shouldn’t drink. I’ll just taste a little.”

“I know.”

Su Peng was already used to An Han’s impulsive whims. He subconsciously reached out and rubbed her head, smiling helplessly but gently.

“I thought Brother Long and Junjie would come along too. That would’ve been safer.”

“It’s not that chaotic, especially the place you picked.”

The bar An Han chose wasn’t far from the school, only a few steps away from the apartment she rented.

She had been a little confused by Su Peng’s words, but when she looked up at the small storefront right in front of them, she was stunned.

Rather than a bar, it looked more like a milk tea shop…

Su Peng pushed open the glass door and led An Han—who was peeking around nervously with curiosity written all over her face—into the bar.

“Welcome.”

Behind the long bar counter, a young man—maybe the owner or a waiter—greeted them without even lifting his head.

An Han looked around the interior decoration of the bar, a question mark practically appearing above her head.

The place was tiny. One bar counter and three rectangular four-person tables filled the entire bar. At first glance, the dim lighting did create a bit of the atmosphere she imagined, but the music playing was soft and melodious, making it impossible to get excited.

There were only two customers in the shop, chatting while eating skewers of barbecue.

“It’s more like a small chill bar,” Su Peng explained briefly. Then he led her to the counter. “Let’s order two drinks to taste and head back?”

“Mm…”

She had imagined something like a big dance floor, people partying, beautiful girls dancing—like the scene shown in Dying to Survive.

But this place felt more like a combination of a milk tea shop and a barbecue restaurant. Looking at the menu on the bar counter, besides various cocktails, there were also all kinds of snacks and grilled food.

“I heard the owner is a senior who graduated a few years ago. I came here during the World Cup before—there were so many people you couldn’t even walk,” Su Peng said.

The young man behind the counter added, “During the S-series and TI tournaments there are quite a lot of people watching too. Thirty yuan per person—comes with one drink and a snack platter.”

A huge screen hung from the ceiling of the small bar. An Han could almost imagine the scene of everyone gathering to watch matches, the whole bar cheering when their favorite team won.

She randomly ordered two drinks and then awkwardly climbed onto a tall bar stool.

The stool was too high—her toes couldn’t even touch the ground. Her face tensed as she carefully balanced herself, afraid of falling.

Su Peng sat beside her as well, resting his chin on one hand against the bar counter, his gentle gaze fixed on An Han’s curious expression.

Pretty cute—like a little kitten that had just crawled out of its nest, wobbling forward while lifting its head to observe a brand-new world.

“Want to order some barbecue too?”

“No, I’m full already… the hotpot and cake earlier stuffed me…”

An Han shook her head, but her attention was drawn to the bartender mixing drinks.

Back in middle school, she had seen videos of bartenders online and was amazed. She had thought it was the coolest profession in the world.

At that time she had even considered signing up for bartending training after middle school graduation, getting a certificate, and becoming a bartender herself. But in the end, she obediently went to high school and university.

However, An Han realized the bartender’s mixing technique wasn’t cool at all…

And the so-called cocktail was basically a bottle of some unknown strong liquor mixed with cola, stirred around a bit.

“Here you go.”

She took the glass with slight disappointment, gently took a sip, and her eyes lit up.

She could barely taste the alcohol. The drink even had the soft fizz of cola bubbles—it tasted just like a pretty good soda.

So she gulped it down in a few big swallows.

Su Peng’s eyelid twitched. “Drink slower. Don’t get drunk.”

“Isn’t this just a drink? Besides, my alcohol tolerance is really good.”

An Han let out a small burp, but her face had already begun to flush uncontrollably.

Yet she didn’t notice her condition at all. When the second drink arrived, she took a small sip—and then gulped it down in several big swallows again.

“Uh oh… I need to go to the bathroom…”

“You’re going to get drunk like this.”

“My tolerance is great, okay? The alcohol content is probably not even higher than beer.”

An Han paused, then excitedly started ordering more drinks.

“Didn’t we agree to just two drinks to try?” Su Peng pressed down her overly excited little hand.

“It’s my birthday and I finally came here—can’t you just let me drink happily?”

Su Peng had already roughly predicted the outcome. He originally wanted to stop her, but seeing the happy expression on her face, he smiled helplessly.

“Fine, drink then.”

There was no persuading her anyway. It would be better to wait until she got completely drunk and confused—then tomorrow, when she blacked out and woke up with a splitting headache, she would finally know to be afraid.

Su Peng had already mastered An Han’s psychology perfectly.

“Su Peng~ I’m so dizzy…”

“Mmm… suddenly I just got dizzy… hic!”

The little glutton pressed her face against Su Peng’s chest, her hands clinging to his shoulders as she swayed slightly, making incoherent murmuring sounds.

“So silly. Someone like this could be tricked into bed at least twice.”

“You really have no guard up against me at all.”

Su Peng muttered quietly while supporting her body with one hand and scanning the payment code with the other.

He glanced at the other customers in the shop, then at the bartender, whose expression looked as if he were staring at a scumbag. Su Peng froze.

“She’s my girlfriend,” Su Peng casually explained, in case rumors spread and affected his reputation.

Now he began worrying about how to bring An Han home. Judging from her limp, weak state, she probably couldn’t even stand.

He might have to carry her.

Fortunately, what he was carrying now wasn’t a gas tank—

but a small, adorable girl.

For a moment, he felt unbelievably strong.
