Chapter 218 215. Tailgating

Jan 30, 2026 1,346 words

“Don’t even think about it. Su Peng already has a girlfriend.”

An Kexin lay listlessly on her desk. Seeing Lin Yi staring at Su Peng with a lovestruck expression, she sighed helplessly. “He was snatched away ages ago.”

“Who is it? That’s so unethical!” Lin Yi asked, shocked and indignant. “Didn’t we agree it was fair competition? How could someone sneak in and steal him!”

“An… An Han…”

“???”

Lin Yi’s mind went blank. She looked dazedly toward Su Peng’s side, at An Han, who was wearing a pretty dress and a knitted hat.

“Isn’t there some kind of misunderstanding here?”

“Su Peng told me himself.”

“Maybe he just doesn’t like you, so he claimed he’s gay?”

An Han felt that sounded pretty heartbreaking too.

She silently pressed a hand to her chest, lowered her head, and sighed in disappointment. “What did I even do?”

She had thought that if she got along well with An Han, she’d gain a wingman. Once she learned how to dress up and make a move on Su Peng, An Han would support her and help her pursue him.

But instead…

What a karmic disaster~

On the other side, An Han originally wanted to focus on the lecture, but after just a few minutes she couldn’t sit still. She leaned toward Su Peng and asked quietly, “Is it settled?”

“Yeah.”

“What did you say?”

“I said I have a girlfriend.” Su Peng slightly turned his head, glanced at the curious An Han beside him, and continued with a smile, “That it’s you.”

An Han froze. A lovely blush immediately spread across her cheeks as she complained coquettishly, “That excuse is way too fake.”

With finals approaching, An Han—who usually slacked off—didn’t dare keep fooling around. After chatting casually for a bit, she went back to listening seriously.

Only, her heart was pounding like a startled deer. Su Peng’s overly direct hints made it impossible for her to concentrate.

This was too hard…

How had she never noticed Su Peng being this flirtatious before?

By the time class finally ended, it was already six o’clock. Outside, the sky had long since gone completely dark.

Like usual, the two walked side by side out of the teaching building, silently arriving at the school gate.

Normally, they would part ways here—Su Peng back to the dorm, An Han to her rented apartment, each going home.

“I’m heading off,” An Han waved at Su Peng and turned toward the gate.

But after just two steps, she turned back and looked at Su Peng following behind her.

“What’s up?”

“Wait until nine tonight to come back for roll call. My apartment hasn’t been cleaned in ages.”

The faint sadness of parting instantly disappeared. An Han trotted over to Su Peng’s side, looked up at him, and asked, “Then let’s eat out together first?”

“Sure.”

“And after we’re done cleaning, you still have to come tutor me.” She pushed her luck.

Su Peng nodded gently. “Anything’s fine.”

“Then if I still fail, it’s all your fault.”

Being with Su Peng was becoming harder and harder to resist…

Even though she knew her feelings for him had been pushed along by the system, by now she couldn’t refuse at all.

An Han felt that although she and Su Peng hadn’t officially confirmed a relationship, the way they interacted was no different from a couple.

Walking beside Su Peng, her steps unconsciously became lighter. Her constantly rosy cheeks were especially cute.

She secretly glanced at Su Peng, only to find that he’d been watching her the whole time. She didn’t avert her gaze, just grinned at him.

Damn it! Pervert! Staring at my chest!

We can’t become a couple! Otherwise this creep will start making unreasonable demands!

This kind of state is actually pretty good. It still keeps Su Peng calmly restrained. If they really got the official label of a couple, he definitely wouldn’t be as well-behaved as he is now.

An Han cursed inwardly.

She didn’t want to promise her mother she wouldn’t date, only to return home for winter break and end up walking into a gynecology clinic.

She’d probably be beaten to death by her mom—or teased to death by her sister.

“How about this little stir-fry place?” Su Peng stopped at the entrance of the urban village and looked at the shop ahead. “I heard it tastes pretty good.”

“Places like this are expensive…” An Han said reluctantly as she followed him inside. “One dish costs at least several dozen yuan.”

She suddenly seemed to sense something and turned around, but all she saw were a few passersby admiring her legs.

She put on a fierce expression and glared viciously at them before quickening her pace to catch up with Su Peng.

Damn it! A bunch of leg-fetish perverts!

Can you not fixate on mine?! I’m a leg person too!

Local stir-fry places usually display all their ingredients for customers to choose from. Su Peng was standing in front of the freezer, with a fish tank beside it.

Hearing An Han’s crisp footsteps, Su Peng turned back and pointed at the ingredients. “What do you feel like eating?”

“Just stir-fry a couple meat dishes. I don’t like vegetables.”

“What about fish or seafood?”

An Han glanced at the fish tank and shook her head. “Forget it. Way too expensive. If I’m eating seafood, I might as well buy it myself—I can cook too.”

That no-skill, plain boiled seafood counts as cooking?

Su Peng complained silently as he raised his hand to call the owner to place the order.

“I keep feeling like someone’s following us.”

An Han looked uneasy, frequently glancing toward the shop entrance, but she couldn’t catch the owner of that lingering gaze.

Because of her sensitive trait, she could keenly feel eyes on her, but identifying who they belonged to was too difficult.

“You’re probably imagining it,” Su Peng also looked outside. “If you’re scared, I can walk you back to your apartment every day.”

“Sure!”

Seeing how readily she agreed, he strongly suspected that this so-called stalking was just an excuse An Han made to spend more time with him.

She could’ve just said it outright.

Maybe girls were just like that—reserved and indirect. Even though An Han had only become a girl halfway through life, she’d still inevitably picked up the habit.

In the shadows across from the stir-fry shop, watching the two chatting and eating inside, An Kexin and Lin Yi sighed in unison.

“So Su Peng really likes men…”

“They’re coming out!” An Kexin perked up again and comforted her. “They just went out to eat. Don’t overthink it.”

“Quick, follow them!”

“Isn’t it kind of bad to tail them? It feels super creepy,” she hesitated.

Lin Yi retorted righteously, “We’re already creepy. What’s a little more?”

And so the two girls followed all the way, finally watching in ashen silence as An Han and Su Peng walked into an apartment building.

“They… two men… are living together?”

“An Han doesn’t really count as a man, right?” Lin Yi forced herself to find an excuse. “He’s so pretty—Su Peng probably treats him like a girl.”

“All the girls in the class can’t compare to one man’s charm…”

Lin Yi’s smile instantly vanished. She felt like her heart had been stabbed hard. With a tearful expression, she wailed, “Stop it, stop it~”
