Chapter 290 287. Ren Chi

Mar 31, 2026 1,536 words

After renting the new house and having plenty of fun things to watch at school, An Han had been in a very good mood lately.

After having dinner with her family, her parents took her younger sister out to explore the nearby night market, while she went back alone to the rented apartment with the key.

An Han opened the door and stood at the entrance, looking at the spacious two-bedroom apartment. The excitement she had been suppressing in front of her parents could finally no longer be contained. She shouted happily and rushed inside.

This is amazing!

Living alone in a two-bedroom apartment!

She spun around in circles in the living room, hopping excitedly.

Compared to the four-person dorm with bunk beds, and compared to the tiny apartment last year that only had a bedroom and kitchen, this place could practically be called perfect.

The only problem was that the rental apartment was over sixty square meters, which made cleaning quite troublesome. An Han was even considering whether she should buy a robot vacuum.

Or whenever it was time to clean, she could trick her roommates into coming over under the excuse of having a meal together. After they made the place a complete mess, Wang Sheng’s germophobic personality would kick in and he’d clean everything for her for free.

The sofa in the apartment was even wider than the one at home, probably around 1.7 or 1.8 meters long. When An Han lay down comfortably on it, even with her legs fully stretched, there was still some space left.

With her height, she could completely use the sofa as a slightly narrow single bed. But if it were Su Peng’s height, he would probably still need to bend his legs to lie down fully.

Knock, knock, knock…

Someone gently knocked on the door.

Lying on the sofa, An Han immediately raised her head like a startled cat. She held her breath and stared straight at the door.

So far, the only people who knew she lived here were her family—and they had all gone out to the night market.

“An Han!”

Judging from the voice… it sounded like Ren Chi?

An Han froze for a moment, then tiptoed to the door and looked through the peephole.

Sure enough, outside stood the counselor wearing glasses, with a gentle face and a tall, thin figure.

“Brother Ren?” She opened the door and asked curiously, “How did you know I live here?”

“I’m in contact with your mother. I was actually the one who recommended this residential complex to her.”

Her mother had added Ren Chi on WeChat through An Han about half a month ago.

“Oh~” An Han suddenly understood and quickly stepped aside, taking out a pair of cotton slippers she had just bought and placing them on the floor. “What do you need from me?”

“……”

Ren Chi didn’t speak. With a tense expression, he looked back down the corridor. Only after confirming no one was around did he say, “I won’t go inside. I just want to talk to you about something.”

“Okay, go ahead.” An Han pretended she knew nothing and looked up at him with the same innocent, lively gaze her younger sister used.

Ren Chi was only a little over 1.7 meters tall. When dressed as a man he looked gentle, thin, and even a bit short, but when wearing women’s clothing, that height actually made him appear especially tall and elegant.

He looked somewhat nervous. Even though his psychological resilience was excellent, at times like this he still felt guilty and uneasy.

It was the first time An Han had seen this counselor—who usually always smiled like a sly old fox—show such an expression.

Though when Ren Chi dressed as a woman, he also looked fox-like, carrying a kind of seductive charm… the only problem was his completely flat chest.

“You… didn’t tell Long Xing about my situation, right?”

“What situation?”

“……”

Seeing him remain silent, An Han stopped pretending.

“Nope.”

Ren Chi let out a sigh of relief.

“That’s good. If you don’t say anything, nobody will know. But if you say it, I could lose my job.”

He had been overly anxious, which was why he came specifically to ask her. Now that he received a definite answer, the tense nerves in his mind finally relaxed.

His trademark squinting smile returned. Feeling much more at ease, he stepped back and waved as he prepared to leave.

“Alright then. I’ll treat you to a meal in a couple of days.”

“Um…” An Han hesitated.

“What?”

“It might not just be that Long Xing saw you in women’s clothing…”

She lowered her voice, her bright eyes watching Ren Chi’s expression. She tried to suppress her excited tone, but a faint blush still appeared on her face.

“Long Xing actually fell in love with you at first sight!”

“!!!”

Ren Chi froze.

He stood at the doorway completely motionless, his facial expression totally frozen, as if his brain had crashed.

It took him a long time to react, only feeling dizzy.

Getting caught crossdressing was bad enough! But damn it—he was seen by a student, and that student even fell in love at first sight!

“It’s fine. If it’s just love at first sight, he’ll forget soon enough.” Ren Chi’s expression was starting to fall apart.

“This time he’ll probably be more persistent…”

“This time? There was a previous time?”

An Han hurriedly changed the subject.

“He’ll probably start asking friends next, post your photos on the campus forum, and most likely also—”

“Wait, photos?!”

Seeing Ren Chi’s disbelief, she almost burst out laughing.

Watching her friend face the exact same situation she once experienced made it hard to resist teasing him.

But the system task only required her to watch the drama unfold.

She felt a little regret for not choosing Task One—helping Long Xing pursue Ren Chi—but her conscience wouldn’t allow it. After all, Ren Chi had helped her quite a lot.

“I’ll ask Brother Long tomorrow. He probably secretly took photos.”

Just like last time.

Ren Chi stared at An Han in a daze. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he could only let out a long, powerless sigh.

Ever since learning that a student had fallen in love with his female disguise, his face had been flushed with shame. Now he even had the urge to go home, shut the door, and hide for a month without going outside.

“Brother Ren~ calm down. As long as you don’t dress as a woman for the next few months, no one will catch on!”

“And why were you crossdressing near the school anyway? It’s almost the start of the semester.”

An Han’s eyes sparkled with gossip as she stared at him.

Ren Chi’s face grew even redder. After hesitating, he finally muttered a single word:

“Thr… thrill.”

Thinking about the scene… it really would be thrilling.

“How scary~”

Ren Chi took a step back. His urge to hide at home had now turned into the urge to resign, move to another city, and restart life.

Originally, after another half year of work, once the next semester started his probation period would end and he would officially become part of the public institution staff. But running away before things blew up seemed safer—at least he could avoid complete social death.

“It’s fine. Even if Brother Long finds out it’s you, he won’t spread it around,” An Han comforted him. “He didn’t tell anyone even when he found out I was a girl.”

Hearing this, Ren Chi’s expression improved slightly.

But he had no mood to stay any longer. He waved as a farewell, then hurriedly turned and left.

An Han watched his figure disappear down the corridor, the smile on her face never fading.

She wondered whether Long Xing would still pursue his “dream girl” after learning that the person he fell for was actually the counselor in women’s clothing—just as he had once said, that he’d pursue them even if they were a man.

Anyway, she had already given all the advice she could and even told Ren Chi about Long Xing’s possible strategies. Her conscience was clear!

Now it was time to enjoy the drama.

Excitedly running back into the bedroom, An Han began looking forward to what ridiculous ideas and outrageous moves Chen Junjie would come up with once he arrived tomorrow to help Long Xing.

And how Ren Chi would deal with it~

Originally I planned to post three chapters today, but now I have to go research how to treat it.
