Chapter 296 293. The Single Guy
Long Xing could really drink. Whenever there was a gathering and he was present, the table would usually be filled with both beer and liquor.
Before this, he would go out drinking with friends from the fitness club almost every weekend, and every time he returned to the dorm he’d be completely drunk.
But this time, he carried two whole cases of beer straight into the private room.
He glanced at Chen Junjie and his girlfriend, who were both looking down at the same phone. Then he looked at Wang Sheng and his girlfriend discussing games. Finally, he glanced at An Han and Su Peng, who were playfully messing around.
His breath nearly got stuck in his throat, and his eyes almost turned red.
“Finally we get together once in a while—tonight nobody’s leaving sober!”
Long Xing slammed a whole case of beer onto the table.
“Everyone drink a little! If you don’t drink, you’re disrespecting me!”
Although he loved drinking, he had never said something like that at the table before. An Han felt a bit surprised, but when she saw the twisted expression on Long Xing’s face—full of jealousy and envy—she quickly guessed what he was thinking.
Failed in love, so he wanted to regain some dignity at the drinking table.
“I can’t drink,” An Han spoke first. “I promised Su Peng I wouldn’t drink anymore!”
Just like how she didn’t allow Su Peng to smoke, Su Peng also didn’t want her drinking outside. Even though she had always had a good alcohol tolerance, there were still times she got drunk.
Normally she only drank with dorm friends, but now that she had become a girl, those once-close friends had become people she needed to be cautious around. After all, many criminals liked targeting women they were familiar with.
“Why are you being such a buzzkill today?” Long Xing muttered sourly.
He had thought An Han—who usually loved drinking and causing trouble—would be the first to cheer him on.
“It’s fine. I’ll drink An Han’s share.”
Su Peng stood up and took a bottle from the crate. He tried to bite the cap open with his teeth, but after biting for a long time, the only thing that hurt was his teeth.
“Idiot…”
An Han snatched the bottle from him and smashed it against the edge of the table, popping the cap off.
“Drink. Your tolerance sucks, so take it easy.”
“It’s fine. If I get drunk, you can take care of me.”
“What are you thinking? If you get drunk, I’ll leave you here to wash dishes.”
Looking at the interaction between the two, Long Xing didn’t know what to say. He turned his head to the others.
Chen Junjie didn’t mind drinking. He and Yingying were chatting and laughing over drinks. Wang Sheng normally didn’t drink, but he didn’t want to lose face in front of his girlfriend, so he was clumsily opening a bottle with an opener.
He realized that all three couples were whispering and chatting with each other.
Meanwhile, as the dorm’s so-called big brother, he was once again forgotten.
He sat down gloomily, took a couple bites of food, and chugged half a bottle of beer.
Why was this Sichuan food so sour…
After feeling down for a while, he looked toward Su Peng.
If Su Peng hadn’t suddenly appeared back then, he might have already succeeded in pursuing An Han… but he could only blame himself for hesitating about An Han’s gender at the time—he just couldn’t bring himself to go after a man.
But who the hell could have guessed An Han was actually a girl?! It made no sense at all!
This time he wouldn’t hesitate again.
“Su Peng! Cheers!”
Long Xing raised his beer bottle.
“Finish it in one go!”
“?” Su Peng looked at the bottle in confusion, swallowed nervously, then stiffly copied Long Xing and gulped down most of the remaining beer in one go.
“May you and An Han live happily together forever! Another bottle!”
“Alright, thanks.”
“Wang Sheng! Come—here’s to you and Yingying, may you two be perfectly happy forever!”
“Thanks, Brother Long.”
“Junjie…”
“Brother Long, if you want to get us drunk and watch us embarrass ourselves, you don’t need to make excuses,” Chen Junjie said with a smile as he clinked bottles with him. “Whoever backs down is a dog!”
He always saw straight through things.
“Who told you guys to secretly get girlfriends behind my back?”
“I didn’t though…” An Han said innocently.
Long Xing ignored her completely and continued enthusiastically drinking with the other guys.
Although he was jealous of his roommates, he didn’t plan to drag the girls into it. Even though Yingying looked like she could outdrink Chen Junjie, and even though An Han had already drunk him under the table more than once.
After several rounds of drinks, the atmosphere at the table became much livelier. Even Wang Sheng’s rather shy girlfriend, Lin Qian, started talking more.
They complained about things that happened during winter break, grumbled about the nearly full schedule this semester, and occasionally teased Long Xing for still being single.
“Hey! Brothers! I have a girl I like!”
Fueled by alcohol, Long Xing once again pulled out the secretly taken photo of a back figure.
“Think of a way to help me find her. I just need her name and WeChat. I’ll handle the rest myself.”
“Be reasonable—everyone here has a girlfriend now. Taking a bit of time to help your single brother shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
An Han silently rolled her eyes.
She had known Long Xing would bring this up at the gathering.
Fortunately, it was only a photo of a back figure. At most Chen Junjie might recognize it as a man. So far no one had realized that the silhouette was actually their counselor, Ren Chi.
“It kinda looks like the counselor…”
An Han quickly covered Su Peng’s mouth with one hand and glared at him fiercely.
Originally Su Peng had only thought he must be seeing things because of the alcohol, but seeing An Han’s reaction, he instantly realized he had guessed correctly.
His eyes widened—containing three parts confusion, three parts bewilderment, and four parts excitement.
Was it really that thrilling?
Fortunately, Su Peng’s quiet muttering hadn’t been heard by anyone else.
Otherwise, even a mere guess might have planted suspicion in Long Xing’s mind.
An Han cautiously glanced at Long Xing, but he was still arguing with Chen Junjie about whether the back figure in the photo was male or female.
Their debate clearly wouldn’t reach a conclusion. After all, Ren Chi’s female disguise was quite convincing, and since it was winter, the flaws in body structure could easily be hidden.
Eventually the discussion turned back into Long Xing forcefully making the other guys drink.
Soon Su Peng couldn’t hold on anymore.
Drinking had gotten to his head. Even though he slowed down, he seemed increasingly excited.
Originally uninterested in alcohol, he was now eating a bite of food and then taking a drink, getting more enthusiastic the more he drank.
“Su Peng, are you sure you’re okay? Your face is red as a monkey’s butt,” Long Xing teased. “Maybe you should stop?”
“I can drink!”
With An Han sitting beside him, Su Peng always wanted to show a better side of himself in front of the girl he liked. He straightened his back and stubbornly shook his head.
“I just turn red easily when drinking.”
An Han simply rested her chin on one hand, watching Su Peng’s drunken state.
Even when drunk, he wasn’t rowdy. He still looked gentle and polite—just frighteningly red-faced and oddly determined about drinking.
She suddenly remembered last year’s National Day holiday, when she had forced Su Peng to drink until he got drunk.
Back then she hadn’t thought much of it, assuming he simply didn’t know his limits.
But thinking about it now, he probably already liked her at the time and was deliberately trying to act tough.
“Alright, stop drinking.”
An Han pressed down on Su Peng’s glass.
“If you drink any more, you won’t even be able to walk back to school.”
“Then I’ll go to your house.”
“You wish.” She rolled her eyes. “Brother Long and the others can send you back to the dorm.”
“And my parents specifically said you’re not allowed to go to my house.”
…
Half an hour later, the three girls looked at their boyfriends who had collapsed asleep on the table and raised their heads, staring at each other.
“So… what do we do?”
Lin Qian clearly had never seen a scene like this before.
“We can’t even enter the boys’ dorm.”
The only one still somewhat conscious, Long Xing, was already staggering and couldn’t walk steadily. There was no way he could send them all back alone.
“Send them to a hotel, what else? Brother Long, you can get back by yourself, right?”
Hearing An Han’s suggestion, Long Xing suddenly realized that tonight would probably be a night full of passion.
And he would be returning alone to the dorm, facing that empty, lonely, and cold night all by himself.
