Chapter 197 195. What’s There to Be Shy About!

Jan 17, 2026 1,493 words

An Han now had a female body and a male social identity. As for her psychological state, that depended on who she was with.

At school, when she was with her roommates and classmates, her mindset leaned more toward male. But when she went out with Su Peng, she would unconsciously reveal a more feminine side.

However, as she consumed more fat and protein, An Han gradually forgot these scattered thoughts and focused entirely on the electric grill on the table, staring at the sizzling, oil-dripping slices of meat and swallowing saliva.

Su Peng’s appetite had originally been reduced because of his cold, but now, with the aroma of meat filling the air, his hunger had completely returned.

“Can we eat it yet?” he asked softly.

“Let me check.” An Han picked up the tongs and poked at the chicken wings and drumsticks. “Everything except the wings and drumsticks should be done.”

Neither of them cooked much, but at least she could barely tell whether grilled meat was cooked through.

So she handled the grilling, while Su Peng handled taking the food and eating.

“How is it that you can’t do anything?” An Han complained as she put two pieces of meat into a bowl, her face full of disdain.

Su Peng could only explain awkwardly, “I only ate this once or twice as a kid, and my parents always grilled it for me.”

“And here I used to think you were amazing.”

An Han blew on the slice of meat held between her chopsticks, bit into it, and her cheeks quickly puffed up, making her look like a hamster.

After a pause, she asked, “Winter break’s coming soon, right?”

“Yeah. About a month.”

Winter break…

The two of them were fighting with their chopsticks over meat on the grill, but An Han’s gaze became a little unfocused.

In one more month, she would have to face her family’s judgment.

She really couldn’t imagine facing her mother and younger sister and saying, “I’m a woman now.” Just thinking about it made her mentally collapse a little.

Fortunately, there were system items she could use as cover, and everyone at home was female, so there was no need to worry about side effects.

The only problem was that she couldn’t go out while using those items.

“What’s wrong?” Su Peng asked after snatching several pieces of meat in a row and finally noticing that An Han was spacing out. “You came out to eat—why do you have so much on your mind?”

“I always have a lot on my mind…”

“Then tell me about it?” Su Peng sat up straight, putting on a serious expression, though the oil at the corner of his mouth made him look a bit ridiculous.

After thinking for a moment, An Han said, “I’m just a little worried about the future.”

“After graduation? I’ll probably go abroad for grad school after I graduate. I won’t be back for three to five years.”

“……”

“How about you come with me?”

She rolled her eyes at him. “Where would my family get that kind of money? And my grades are average. I barely passed CET-4, and my English is shaky—I’d have trouble even living abroad.”

“But it’s fine. Long-ge hasn’t even passed CET-4 yet. Who knows if he’ll even graduate.”

There were rumors that the school required students to take the CET-4 after sophomore year; otherwise, they wouldn’t be allowed to graduate.

Su Peng’s gaze had been on An Han’s face, but unconsciously, he began to notice something else.

It seemed… more obvious?

His eyes drifted downward, stealing a glance at An Han’s chest.

Even with the thick jacket concealing it, the rise and fall of her chest had become quite noticeable.

“After we finish eating, I want to go buy something.” An Han dumped the remaining meat onto the grill. Her face flushed slightly again as she reached up to rub her shoulder, subtly tugging at her bra strap.

It still felt uncomfortable…

The sense of restriction had been growing stronger ever since she went out. Now it felt like she was being squeezed so tightly she could hardly breathe.

It was obvious—the bra was probably one or two sizes too small now.

That made An Han feel a bit desperate.

It’s over. I’m really going to turn into a dairy cow…

Su Peng looked at her curiously, but she didn’t dare meet his eyes. She quickly lowered her head and urged him, “There’s only a bit of meat left. Hurry up and eat.”

“I’m not full yet…”

“Why can you eat so much?”

They had only been in the barbecue restaurant for a little over forty minutes. An Han was barely full—more like she’d lost her appetite because of the greasiness—while Su Peng looked utterly unsatisfied.

They had expected the temperature to rise again after the cold front passed, but it was still only around ten degrees.

Walking down the street, the autumn wind blew An Han’s soft cheeks painfully dry. Her earlobes and nose tip turned red from the cold, and she could only stuff her hands into her pockets and hide behind Su Peng. This guy had thick skin and wasn’t afraid of the wind.

In the south where An Han lived, even the coldest winter only dropped to five or six degrees, and it lasted about ten days at most. For her, ten-plus degrees was already very cold.

Su Peng glanced back at her from time to time. After walking a few steps, he suddenly turned into a small shop by the roadside.

“Wait here for a moment.”

A short while later, Su Peng came back holding a ball of yarn.

“Are you planning to raise a cat?”

“No.”

An Han couldn’t imagine what it would look like for this rich young master to knit things.

Don’t tell me he’s making clothes for me? Hand-knitting a sweater—his skill couldn’t be that great. With how busy he was with classes, it would probably take two or three months to finish.

By then, the coldest weather would already be over.

She looked curiously at the yarn ball in his hand. “You even have that skill?”

“I learned a little when I was a kid for fun. I can at least mend clothes.”

“You’re so rich—if clothes get torn, why not just buy new ones?” An Han muttered softly, still unable to understand his thinking.

She glanced at Su Peng’s expression, strongly suspecting that he was planning to knit her a sweater.

But she didn’t even wear sweaters…

Don’t overthink it. Maybe it really was just for mending clothes.

Although Su Peng was usually gentle, she really couldn’t imagine him knitting.

The place they ate was on a pedestrian street near the school. After only a few steps, An Han spotted a lingerie store.

She peeked inside, then grabbed Su Peng’s wrist. “Come on, go with me to buy clothes.”

“Buy what?” Su Peng followed her a few steps before suddenly realizing what kind of store it was.

Inside the shop—if there were no other customers, maybe it would’ve been fine—but through the floor-to-ceiling glass, he could see seven or eight customers, all women.

The shop was filled with all kinds of lingerie, dazzling to the eye, and enough to make a man blush and feel embarrassed.

His expression changed drastically. “I’m a guy—wouldn’t it be bad for me to go in?”

“What’s wrong with going in with me?”

An Han tugged hard on him but found that he was rooted to the ground, completely unmoving.

So she turned around, grabbed his arm with both hands, hoisted it onto her shoulder like a strongman pulling a cart, her face flushing red as she used all her strength. “Come on! Go in with me!”

“I’ll wait outside, okay? I’ll get kicked out if I go in.” Although Su Peng’s body didn’t move, the soles of his shoes were slowly sliding along the ground.

“Let you experience how I feel!”

“Do we really have that much of a grudge?” Su Peng panicked as he resisted, not daring to use too much force for fear of hurting An Han.

“What are you shy about!”

This kind of embarrassment—something she had experienced herself—had to be experienced by Su Peng too, otherwise it just wouldn’t be psychologically balanced.
