Chapter 146 144. Dark Past
“Where did you just run off to?”
As she left the teaching building, the flustered An Han spotted Su Peng.
She was still a bit shaken, and the moment she saw him, her feet moved toward him almost involuntarily.
“Su Peng!” She hurried to his side and asked in a panic, “Ren Chi knows too! What do we do?”
Su Peng didn’t react right away. “Knows?”
“Yeah!”
“He knows you’re a girl?”
“Yes!”
Su Peng froze for a moment, then scratched his head. “So what if he knows? That’s perfect—you can be moved to the girls’ dorm.”
The problem is my ID still says male~
And how exactly did I get exposed? If I don’t figure this out, sooner or later Long Xing will find out too.
An Han couldn’t imagine what that “triad boss” big brother would be like once he dropped all restraint and went all out pursuing her.
Probably shy like a little boy?
The scene of her first cross-dressing encounter with Long Xing suddenly surfaced in her mind.
It was kind of interesting, but one Su Peng was already more than enough trouble for her.
“So how did you get exposed?” Su Peng asked curiously.
An Han shook her head in distress, trying hard to recall whether she’d revealed anything in front of Ren Chi, while casually asking, “You didn’t say anything, right?”
Why would I go out of my way to add a few hidden rivals for myself?
Su Peng muttered inwardly and shook his head. “Don’t overthink it. Let’s go eat lunch first.”
He stepped forward, and An Han realized that even without looking at him, her feet had already moved, following behind him.
She wasn’t sure whether it was intentional on An Han’s part, but the scene looked as though two magnets were being drawn toward each other.
He must have found out I was a woman sometime between yesterday afternoon and today.
An Han lowered her head, thinking. If it hadn’t been during this time window, then when she met Ren Chi yesterday, his reaction wouldn’t have been like that.
Su Peng had suddenly heard a voice telling him she was a girl.
She had originally thought it was an “accident” triggered by affection exceeding one hundred points, like the system’s description suggested.
But Ren Chi’s affection toward her was only in the sixties…
However! There was one thing they had in common!
Both of them had been subjected to her mind-reading skill!
Could it be that the side effect of mind reading was exposing the most shameful secret in her heart?
She suddenly understood.
After all, paying a similar price for reading someone else’s mind was understandable—but that damn system hadn’t given any warning at all! That made her mistakenly believe the side effect of mind reading was that it required contact with men to activate.
The reason Ren Chi had loosened up was actually because, through the side effect of mind reading, he had learned that she was a woman.
Compared to the embarrassment of confessing outright and giving all sorts of explanations, this outcome was actually acceptable.
In that case, Ren Chi should agree to let her live off campus, right?
An Han suddenly felt the light around her dim. She looked up in confusion and realized she had followed Su Peng into the cafeteria.
She really did want to eat, but she hadn’t even noticed when she’d started moving her feet.
After buying lunch, the two of them sat facing each other in a corner of the cafeteria.
An Han had already started fantasizing about the wonderful life after moving out~
It was winter now—wearing a bra wouldn’t be noticed by classmates. She could run and jump without worrying about excessive bouncing, and she wouldn’t have to worry about fabric rubbing and causing awkward protrusions or pimples.
When her period came, she wouldn’t have to sneak around like a thief anymore, nor worry about men’s underwear causing leaks.
She could even wear pretty women’s clothes in her rental apartment…
Scratch that! Even if she’d become a woman, she absolutely refused to wear women’s clothes! Dressing too prettily would just make it easier for the system to arrange situations where she’d seduce men.
“Oh right, about that dark past you mentioned yesterday.” An Han suddenly looked up at Su Peng across from her. “Tell me in detail.”
Su Peng looked up in surprise. “I thought you’d already forgotten about that.”
“I was busy with the physical exam yesterday, so I didn’t press you.”
An Han was rather eager, hoping Su Peng would have some embarrassing dark history she could use as leverage.
Now that Su Peng knew she was female, she didn’t dare refuse some not-too-excessive requests.
Su Peng thought for a moment, then sighed helplessly. “There’s actually not much to it. In middle school I got led astray by a group of delinquents. I didn’t want to study, spent every day in bars and KTVs, and got into fights all the time.”
“Luckily my family’s pretty well-off. When fights caused trouble, they could clean up after me. Back then, whenever I got hurt, my uncle handled it.”
The image of the skinny old doctor she’d seen yesterday surfaced in An Han’s mind.
Her lips immediately curled upward uncontrollably. She leaned forward subconsciously, gossip blazing in her eyes as she asked, “So, going to bars every day—you probably weren’t a virgin, right?”
She wouldn’t ask just anyone this, but unless Su Peng hadn’t grown into his looks back then, with his current appearance, even if he didn’t actively pursue girls, they’d pursue him.
“No way. In middle and high school, my head was full of nothing but playing around. Women? What were those?”
Su Peng’s demeanor was completely calm, showing no trace of guilt.
“Playing with women,” An Han replied almost reflexively.
“……”
But quickly, An Han realized she was now a woman herself, and her cheeks instantly flushed red.
“No. No interest. Back then, all I thought about was brotherhood, games, and who I’d be fighting tomorrow.”
A hint of a smile appeared in Su Peng’s eyes. He actually liked An Han’s carefree, bold personality—her mindset and temperament leaned masculine. More importantly, that constantly shy face, the mix of masculine and feminine traits in An Han, gave off a strange, compelling allure.
Put it this way: if Su Peng had to choose between living with his brothers or with a wife for the rest of his life, he’d definitely choose the former.
And this brother also happened to possess the qualities of a wife.
Perfect.
An Han thought Su Peng’s smile was mocking her. She lowered her head to hide the pink on her face and muttered softly to ease her embarrassment. “I was hoping to hear about some decadent private life of a rich second-generation heir…”
“Let’s put it this way—every rich second-gen I know is better than me,” Su Peng shrugged helplessly.
“Oh…”
An Han wasn’t sure what kind of “better” Su Peng was referring to.
At least in her eyes, Su Peng was almost perfect.
Looks? Check. Grades? Top of the class. Physique? Maybe not as bulky as Long Xing’s, but far more to her taste. Personality? Aside from being too aggressive when pursuing girls, he usually maintained a gentle, refined demeanor, and she’d almost never seen him do anything immoral.
Right—except when he forcefully kissed her. That was extremely immoral!
If her mind hadn’t gone blank back then, An Han would’ve wanted to call the police and have him arrested for molestation!
“I’m going to start looking for a place to rent,” An Han said while eating, informing Su Peng of her next plan.
“Living out is pretty nice. Want me to help?”
“No.”
If I let you help, wouldn’t you just create more chances for a lone man and woman to be alone together?
